Attention Catching

amelie stripes

So I have this weird habit of wanting the "full immersion" of things when something shiny-new attracts my (apparently short-term) attention.

It can be almost anything - I've gone through phases of All-Things [insert randonmess of choice here] such as ... ramen, Pride and Prejudice (recent), that weirdly named J.Crew color "modern red" (here or here), French, Pinterest or rather, my new social media addiction Instagram (and I finally have page up), Hart of Dixie, apple fritters, party rocking ... you get the point.

My current thing? Well, I spent a better part of this past Sunday Netflixing Julie & Julia, whilst re-reading Julie Powell's book Julie and Julia and Julia Child's My Life in France, whilst perusing The Julie/Julia Project blog. And I am about two clicks from purchasing a copy of Mastering the Art of French Cooking. I just need to poach an egg and I'll be done.

Edit: Since this post went up, I have actually poached four eggs and eaten them all and they are delicious!

But it's a new week and by tomorrow I'll probably be on to my next "big" thing to be occupied with. Maybe I should get some new batteries for that Wii Fit.

So, it's a new month. What do you find yourself currently engrossed in?

  1. Chocolate covered almonds, that's what I'm into lately. Hope that won't last all month!! I know what you mean though, I tend to go whole hog into something and I may become a wee bit obsessed. Curious, what did you think of Julie & Julia? I liked the book, but Julie Powell is not a very likable person...
Love the stripes and the leopard!

    1. I definitely like Amy Adams as Julie Powell the character, and I am enjoying reading the original blog by Julie Powell. I don't mind the book version, I think Julie has a great way of putting words together but she can make a mountain out of a mole hill. Though I guess that's what you need to be to be a good storyteller? I don't know much more about Julie Powell honestly, though reviews for her second book haven't been the most awesome.

  7. Love this look! And I like your "full immersion" idea. Although I am so scattered I don't have a lot of time to focus on one thing. I can barely get my necessary to do list done!
