I'm going to blame this one on work, but I seem to have missed the memo where the temps were going to jump immediately from pleasant mid-70s to blistering 90s. Because in the SE when days start rolling in the 90+ degree zone, that means it's going to pretty much stay like that for a while. Like through October.
So combine that with being in-between biz trips, my home days have been pretty much all casual'd out lately. I just want to be comfortable. Which does mean stretchy bottoms to facilitate pizza and Chinese takeout consumption.
So here's what I've been wearing lately - what do you wear when you want to be comfy but still be a smidge stylishness?
Sweater: Gap v-neck pullover (worn here - sim, sim, steal)
Skirt: H&M (worn here - sim, sim, brighter)
Necklace: Anthropologie ampay (worn here - sim, larger, sim)
Bracelet: J.Crew via Ebay (sim, sim)
Clutch: Kate Spade (worn here - sim, sim, spotted)
Shoes: Miss Albright via Anthropologie crossed nerodia (taller, deal, pricey)
Top: F21 essential striped (worn here - w/cat, rugby)
Shorts: Zara elasticated (sim, sim, pricey)
Necklace: J.Crew factory cameo chandelier (sim, blinged out)
Bracelets: Sage K & Co & YuniKelley via Etsy, Betsey Johnson
Bag: Coach legacy penny (worn here - steal, rustic, larger)
Shoes: Sam Edelman trina (worn here - lookalike, pricey)
Top: LEC gingham poplin (worn here - deal, sim, pricey)
Shorts: J.Crew chino (worn here - sim, sim)
Bracelets: C. Wonder pave initial, Sage K & Co via Etsy, Asos, J.Crew (sim, sim)
Bag: J.Crew biennial stripe (solid)
Shoes: Gap leopard calf (worn here - latest, sim, pricey, steal)
(As you can plainly see, I ended up getting the biennial stripe bag as my warm weather carryall. The medium is a good size for a shortie like me. And though unintended, thanks to the stripes I do have the French national anthem bleating through my head whenever I pick the bag up. And yes, I am so taking it with me on my trip to Paris. C'est bien!)
Linking up with Tara at Mix & Match Fashion today!
Three great looks for the summer. I love all threee. You look amazing in vibrant colors.
ReplyDeleteIf you get a sec, check out my latest post 'Kate Spade and Leopard'. I think you would love it.

Oh, I can't decide which of these three looks is cuter, but I think my favourite has to be the last one. Vive la France, eh? ;)
ReplyDeleteHm, if I want to be casual but still put-together... throw on a nice big necklace and/or a blazer, I guess? Or I make sure the colours of my outfit all match up!
Comfy but stylish? Hmmm, the last few days I've been wearing flare jeans with a baggy comfy t-shirt and then silver wedges and jewelry to rock it out. It's now my new go-to outfit!
ReplyDeleteBtw, I just made my blog private recently; I tried finding an email address on here to send you an invite but couldn't find one. Could you provide me with an email I can add on my list (only if you want to, that is!)? thanks :)
Please add me to your list! respecttheshoes(at)live.com
DeleteLOVE these looks - not sure which to comment on b/c they are all so fab! Last outfit in particular - orange shorts!! shut-up! Adore.
ReplyDeleteYou look great in all of them, but my fav is the 1st and the 3rd look! You look stylish and comfortable in all and I love the orange shorts. I just started wearing shorts again after almost 20 years and I think I am adicted. hehe!

Scarf Giveaway!
I love the last look.
ReplyDeleteI am pretty lazy about being stylish when I am just hanging out at home. A pug that sheds constantly means that I usually take off my "good clothes" as soon as I get in the door and slip into a t-shirt and jeans or if it's the evening, go directly to PJs.

Me too - my work clothes get changed out of pretty quickly.
DeleteRight??? It's been the same here in CO!!! I love all of these looks Lisa--seriously! Especially the first one!
ReplyDeleteI love all three of these outfits! My favorite is the first one- neon pink and olive is a great color combo! I haven't mastered the art of the half-tuck yet (it doesn't ever seem to look right on me!)

I just remembered I have a hot pink sweater that needs to be worn thanks to your first pic! I am also a fan of the half tuck. =)

It was 97 here yesterday. I am so not ready for the ridiculous heat, but I guess I don't have a choice. I think I'm going to be in tanks and shorts or tiny dresses. Ha!
ReplyDeleteI'm the person who is sweating outside but freezing in the AC, so I always gotta have sleeves!
DeleteGood question! Comfortable winter clothes usually consist of jeans, a stylish sweatshirt and wedge sneakers. Summer wear is usually ultra light to battle the heat - shorts and skirts with tanks. Maybe we will get a break from this stifling heat... :)

Love your striped shirt! I'm all about stripes right now :)
ReplyDeleteI think the third look is my favorite - the blue and white gingham with the orange shorts is so much fun! :)
ReplyDeleteHmm, if I want to be comfy I wear my lightweight sleeveless shift. It's patterned so it looks like I put in some effort. If I want to get fancy, I add a belt, but for ultimate comfort I wear it as is. :)
You can rock a stylish comfy look.
ReplyDeleteI have to say i am a faaaaaan of look number 3, it's amazing how polished you look in shorts.
Maxi dresses all.the.way. I wish I'd known about them in college & maybe I wouldn't have gone to class so many times in my sweats. :-) Loving those bright orange shorts in the last look.
ReplyDeleteI wish I could rock a maxi dress, but most are too long or I feel overly dressy in them.
DeleteI love the half tuck :) That bright pink top is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI dropped all three of those skirts at a consignment store - they bought them all. you just made me a regret it!
ReplyDeleteFor some reason this olive version has a soft spot in my heart, I can't give it up!
DeleteI love the red shorts with the checked shirt!! I really feel like I might try that!! It looks so cute!!!
ReplyDeleteOliviamoone.blogspot.com
Cute outfits, I especially like the gingham shirt and red shorts, so eye-catching! When I just want to be comfortable but not too casual, I wear skinny jeans and a silk top.
ReplyDeleteI like all three loooks, but my fave is the last one! so cute!
ReplyDeleteI tried the half-tuck look today and felt so silly - I'm not sure I get it quite right when I do it! Love this look on you though - and I definitely stick to breezy dresses, or shorts and loose tees when it gets up to 90, which, sadly, will likely be happening SOON.

The one thing I don't miss about GA is the ridiculous summers. I live all of your sets - and I unknowingly wore a turquoise gingham shirt w/,-n orange skirt today. :)
ReplyDeleteI'd never heard of a half-tuck or a shame-tuck until I stumbled across GOMI after the Anthroholic fall-out (E was just days old so that was 21 months ago!!). Shamepuffs either, I just thought they were high buns, lol! Not sure if half-tuck is used that much in England yet verbally but I see it in magazines and IRL now. I can't quite do it 'properly' myself yet, it depends on what top you use whether it looks a bit unkempt or nonchalant! I probably veer towards the former ;-)
ReplyDeleteI don't think I could ever pull off a top knot and honestly I think it looks weird!
DeleteOkay, even your casual outfits are freaking gorgeous! I love how you still look put together, even though you're much more comfortable. I tend to steer clear from shorts (I have an abnormally huge bottom), so maybe a tee shirt and a skirt? Most often I'll just throw on a casual dress. The less thinking the better!

A little warm(er) weather would be nice over here. It's been stuck in the high teens/low 20s (that's around the 70s in Farenheit ;)). But I have to be careful what I wish for, cuz it'll probably shoot up into the blistering temperatures just to spite me!
ReplyDeleteYou're very cute and comfy. I aspire to that, but I'm afraid sometimes I end up looking sloppy. For me, it's always jersey knits and elastic waistbands.
I half-tuck all the time now. And as a SE Alabamian, I am devastated that there is no more cool weather until it's time to put out my pumpkin doorhanger. Depressing. I do not like summer at all :(
ReplyDeleteLove your new bag and every outfit on here. CUTE CUTE!!!
Taylor
Same here. The humidity, thunder storms, and mosquitoes, bleh!
DeleteAll of these looks really are the perfect mix of comfy and stylish! I love the second look especially.
ReplyDeletei'm still trying to master the art of the half tuck. sometimes i tuck too much in and other times i don't feel like i tuck enough. sigh... i was never good a tucking in shirts (even all the way in).

Me too. Sometimes I feel like I look "cool cas" but then catch myself in the mirror and I resemble Steve Urkle or something!
DeleteDont' you love it that the 90s is back with the front tuck? i remember doing this a lot during high school and felt weird when the 2000s came. Love all the outfits!

I did try the half-tuck with the button-down shirt but had to stop - I felt like I was trying to not try too hard! ;o)
DeleteI feel like I keep seeing awesome jewelry from J.Crew Factory everywhere. I guess I need to do a little more online shopping!!! Super cute looks!

Usually I wear 3/4 length cotton trousers with ballerina's and a nice sweater, jumper on top.
ReplyDeleteI like your to outfit with the pink sweater best. It is ever so lovely.
And I see you have acquired the bag with the stripes. LOL
Absolutely LOVE these shoes! Great choice!
ReplyDeleteOoh, the orange shorts + blue gingham top + striped bag combo is my favorite! I'm definitely pinning that look for inspiration. :)
ReplyDeleteJen @ Librarian for Life & Style
You're rocking the half tuck, perfectly accessorized (as usual). Wish I had your knack.
ReplyDeleteI'll take one of each of these outfits please! I love how you put outfits together :-)
ReplyDeleteLove the cargo skirt! Cargo anything is so wonderful for travel - wish I could wear it all the time!
ReplyDeleteThese are really cute outfits! I especially love the necklace in the first one. But I totally do the half tuck all the time... Sometimes on the side. It can work occasionally?
ReplyDeleteHugs & Kisses,
Olivia
Great summer looks! I really love the first one! Great color combo!
