Hey ladies, please check me out today on Franziska's blog! She has featured me in her Behind the Blog series - thanks again, girl, I'm so flattered!
♠ ♠ ♠ ♠
I know I spent yesterday's post talking about the need to do something with my wardrobe so I can give all my clothes a fair shake at being worn - and thanks for all your organization tips, ladies, btw - so in my attempt at being a sartorial egalitarian, I probably shouldn't talk about favorites from my closet.
Meaning my entire outfit today.
Like this jacket, which is perfect for the mild SE winters and has shiny
gold buttons to boot (plus it makes me feel kind of tough - OK, tough
in that
I-have-a-white-collar-job-and-like-to-eat-lunch-at-Panera-Bread-while-sipping-ice-green-tea-through-a-straw
kind of way). Or these pumps, which are new, but are officially
unofficially my favorite pair of animal print shoes because of the
pointed toe, bow detail and loads of insole padding. This
sweater, which is my favorite winter-appropriate pastel shade - and has
sparkles. The necklace, which goes with pretty much everything. The
skirt, which is nubbly wool warm, in a classic shape and neutral colors -
but it's colorblocked, so bam, it's contemporary.
I can't help but loving all these pieces, so I had to gather them
together into an outfit. So be prepared to see these guys under
different guises again and again pretty soon. And to all the other
clothes in my closet waiting to be worn - I still love you guys, I'll be
back soon. At least it's warm in there!
What are some of the favorite pieces from your closet that you find yourself reaching to wear again and again?
Jacket: J.Crew downtown field (worn here - sim, cheap, pricey, luxe)
Sweater: Pim & Larkin via Piperlime sequin stripe (worn here - sim, w/navy, pricey, sim peach)
Skirt: J.Crew factory colorblock (sim blue or black, pleated, a-line)
Scarf: street vendor (sim, sim, sim)
Necklace: Anthropologie ampay (worn here - sim-ish, sim green)
Bracelets: J.Crew, Asos (sim, sim, all-in-one)
Shoes: Jessica Simpson jaide leopard (sim, slingback, bigger bow)
I find myself wearing my red pants a lot, there are days when I have to make myself wear something else.
ReplyDeleteI love your sweater and it looks amazing with that necklace. Wish it was mild enough here for a mild jacket, I'm freezing my butt off!
It's been really warm here in the SE lately - I kind of wish for at least one good snow!
DeleteI love your leopard shoes today...they are super cute. I've been wearing both my red jeans and royal blue jeans like they are going out of style. I reach for them more than my regular blue jeans. It's still pretty warm down here in Florida, so I'm not wearing too many jackets these days.
ReplyDeleteMoody Girl In Style
I need to get some bright blue jeans - I got a pair from Loft way back when but they stretched out so badly after one wear, they were ridiculous!
DeleteGreat interview! She asked some great questions & I loved your answers. Today's look is fabulous. I tend to reach for my skinny jeans way too much. Sometimes I have to force myself into pants or a skirt.
ReplyDeleteI love jeans, that's pretty much all I wear on the weekends!
DeleteSaluting the shoes.....I will head over to Franziska's blog now !!!

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this outfit!!!!
ReplyDeleteLisa, we both seem to have a thing for shoes with bows. :)
ReplyDeleteI love everything about this outfit so I totally understand why you love it so much too. My most recent post featured all my favorites, the black and white sweater I got from Madewell is something I'm constantly tempted to wear.
I know - I love your red ones!
DeleteHow cute are those shoes? Love the little bow detail!
ReplyDeleteFizz and Frosting
I want to rip those shoes off your feet! I'm in love...
ReplyDeleteyou look fantastic!! the colours are so fun!
ReplyDeletei love the advice you gave in the interview of blogging because you want to, not because you think you have to. bravo!
phiphi's blog
Really like this combination of camel and aqua, and those shoes are adorable! Found your blog via your interview at Franish, great interview :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by and visiting, Laura!
DeleteHow adorable are the bows on your leopard heels?!
ReplyDeleteI'm constantly wearing my chambray shirt and shocker-my striped tops. They just go with everything!

Love your heels. The bows at the back are totally adorable! Anything with bows on, I seem to have a big crush on :)
ReplyDeleteThat skirt is awesome! Looks very spendy.
ReplyDeleteAgain, another fab outfit! I love the leopard heels (still regretting of not buying a pair that I saw from a shoe store *sad face*) haha- recently, I've been reaching out my F21 skirts. They are so comfy and it goes with everything.Unfortunately, I have only 2 pieces, black and blue so I just alternately use them :)
ReplyDeleteOh those shoes! Swoon! They are definitely fabulous. This whole look is perfect on you, though! :)
ReplyDeleteI would say my favorite go-to pieces are my denim blazer (bought at a boutique in Madrid), my wedge, cognac, knee-high boots and my Marc by Marc Jacobs watch(es).

Ok I love your new animal print shoes! But I also forgot to mention in your last post--have you ever heard of the app called Stylebook? I got it for my iPad and I LOVE it. It's like the software on Clueless, but much more sophisticated. It takes a while to get all your clothes loaded on there but after that it is very easy to navigate and see what you have and create outfits. You can even add in an inspiration folder where I keep magazine cutouts and some Pins.
ReplyDeleteOoh, I def need to check that out - thanks for letting me know!
DeleteI am in LOVE with that sparkly sweater. The color is gorgeous, and I love that it's glittery.

ReplyDeleteMARC JACOBS GIVEAWAY!
NEW POST UP!
I love everything about your outfit today! You look awesome! I hope you wear this combination again and again, and looking forward to seeing other combinations...
ReplyDeleteI love your sweater...the color, the sparkles...perfection!
ReplyDeleteI read Franish already, and saw your feature there. It was well done!
ReplyDeleteOh wow, this jacket has such nice gold hardware! I'm a big fan of the back of these pumps, too. So cute!
ReplyDeleteI have this skirt and I love it. It's perfect.
ReplyDeleteI also reach for my field-type jacket time and time again (even when it's not weather appropriate), and I'm thinking of investing in the J Crew one this year - did you find it true to size?
ReplyDeleteI think the field jacket runs a smidge large, but it's got waist tabs on the sides to make the waist appear more fitted, plus it's great for layering. I am typically a 2/2P and got this in a XS. I probably could have fit the XXS, but then I couldn't have layered. I think order your reg size if you plan on any layering - plus it doesn't look bad even if you just have one thing on underneath. If you can try the jacket on, I'd say reach for your size and one below just to compare. Hope this helps!
Deletethose pumps are cute. i love the bow accent on the back. usually it's cute shoes that i'm always drawn to in my closet. haha
ReplyDeletehttp://www.averysweetblog.com/
I love Panera's Green Tea. I'ma join a motorcycle gang next...lol.
ReplyDeleteLisa, you're sort of magic when combining separates. I don't know why I love these pieces together so much, except that the combination has a super clean aesthetic and also seems soothing, like fish. Well, okay, maybe it's weird to find fish soothing, but I do.
I've gotten so many awesome pieces from GW Boutique lately, it's hard to pick a fave, but I keep reaching for dresses. I like to get dressed all in one go :P
I know, sometimes putting on a dress feels like cheating with getting dressed, hehe!
DeleteI think the best part about wearing favorites is seeing how many ways you can wear them! While I understand wanting to get more use out of other pieces, there's nothing wrong with going to your favorites :)
ReplyDeleteI love the sweater and how the stripe patter kind of continues in the skirt! And those shoes are so cute! I love the bow detailing! :) Found you from Franziska's blog! Now following! :)

ReplyDeletethe sweater will be perfect for spring, too! which should be on its way any time, right? its supposed to be in the upper 40's this weekend. crazy.

ReplyDeleteI found myself doing some wardrobe rehab recently - it always feels so good afterwards to look and your wardrobe and think, I love everything in here. Loving this mix of colours, you look really chic. As for my favourites? a couple of boucle peplum tops, a longline chunky cardigan and a cute white skirt. x

ReplyDeleteTasia
i love the color of your sweater! and the leopard shoes are so cute with the bows xx
ReplyDeletelovely outfit !
ReplyDeleteThat color sweater is beautiful and looks absolutely gorgeous on you. And sparkles! I definitely have closet favorites too, but mine are more about weather-appropriateness. Like I love my boring black tights that are 100 dernier because even in Scotland on the wintery days, I don't feel the wind through those things. Not something necessary when I lived in the SE though ;) Very jealous of your bare legs... in JANUARY!
ReplyDeleteLisa, I love that skirt... and those heels are so adorably chic!!! I know it's a bit late, but Happy 2013!!! Cheers to all the best the new year has in store for all of us. :)))

Your attempts to be a closet egalitarian are really admirable - I should really try the same, but I definitely have pieces that are my favourites and then, well, the rest of my closet that I mix in occasionally :) And who could blame a girl? After all, your favourits are all gorgeous, and they go perfectly together besides! I love the combination of turquoise and camel, it's just too pretty!

I'm wearing the black & white version of that skirt for the first time today. It's so comfy and warm and classy! You make the camel look amazing, too. It's either too bad or a good thing that it's sold out or I'd be grabbing it, too.
ReplyDeleteI love those shoes. They are actually on sale right now--bonus! I have a green suit coat that I get compliments every time I wear it. Makes me want to wear it every day :)
