Quilted Navy, Golden Stripes

navy + gold

I've turned into a shameless quilted vest collector with the addition of this one I am wearing (and the red plaid one that was recently re-released) but I do seriously wear them all the time on casual days. Gotta keep my middle warm and toasty in these cold months!

Sleeveless Pink

.
long pink vest

You know I can't get on board with office wear if I can't show at least a bit of my quirky style. This sleeveless vest is business-y, but lets me show a bit of personality by exposing my striped sleeves. There is a certain streamlined crispness to a perfectly matching suit but that's just not quite me. I actually don't own a suit, I prefer to mix and match together separates to make office-appropriate more my own. #alwaysbealittlequirky

Plaid Scarf Convert

I seem to be about two seasons behind everyone else, but I finally jumped on the plaid scarf bandwagon. I blame the retailers but it feels like we're skipping right past Thanksgiving and going full-on Christmas this year - even more so than usual - so a bright red plaid seems to be appropriate for the season.

My scarf drawer is already bursting full so I think I'll probably end my plaid collecting with just this one, but I can already envision the throngs of outfits this scarf will go with (and I did totally get the red plaid shirt with a scaled down version of the same print so you know there'll definitely be some plaid-on-plaid mixing going on soon. Actually in fact ... done).

Rainbow Stripes, Take Two

rainbow stripes

I wore this outfit last month before the real chill has set in (though it's in the high 50s to low 60s this week in the Southeast, so we're still warmer weather lucky), but easily could see adding a black blazer to this look for warm if it was cooler out.

You know me, I haven't met a stripe yet that I don't like, so of course stripe pairings are bound to happen. There's a lot of color and stripes going on here so I thought to keep my accessories simple - a gal's gotta still fit in a little bit at the office, after all!

Uncommonly Good

uncommon goods uncommon goods

The fine folks at UncommonGoods recently contacted me about checking out a few pieces from their jewelry collection and of course, I could not refuse. One of the hardest things for me during the holidays is to find unique gifts for my family and friends - well UncommonGoods specializes in that area and their holiday book now literally sits on top of my gift-browsing catalog pile.

UncommonGoods is a Brooklyn-based retailer of distinct gift and home decor items. Their mission is to support and provide a platform for artists and designers - half of their products are made by hand and most of their jewelry collection is created in the U.S. UncommonGoods is not just a cool place to go buy unique gifts though - the company is an independently-owned B Corporation that supports non-profits and small businesses. And with every purchase made, they donate $$ to a non-profit of your choice.

I selected two pieces from UncommonGoods' jewelry collection to try out - the horseshoe pendant by Dana Reed and the love birch cuff by Nancy Nelson. I picked these pieces not only because visually they drew me in, but also they are part of the handmade collection and each piece includes a bio on the artisan and the motivation behind their exceptional creations (the cuff is hand cast in brass from real birch bark, for example, and the horseshoe is a symbol of prosperity).

I know it's still early, but I already have the holidays on the brain (yes, my Christmas decorations are starting to creep their way out ...) and already have a bunch of stuff dog-eared from UncommonGoods' catalog as good gift prospects. Seriously, guys, if you're starting to think about gifts, I'd recommend checking these guys out for the ladies in your life or The special lady in your life.

Cozy Cable Knit

I do like a cozy over-sized sweater when the weather gets downright frigid, so this turtleneck is right up my alley don't-like-a-cold-neck alley. I can trot around in bare legs during the cold months and not feel so bad, but if my neck is exposed, I curl up like a pill bug an am pretty useless.
