Black, White and Rainbow

OK, I absolutely adore this outfit, but let's be honest, it is a little much for an office job. So I did wear a plain black blazer with this ensemble through the work day to tone it all down a bit, and waited until after-hours to bare my striped out best.

  1. Ooooh! Love this! It's pattern mixing at its finest! I do see how some might think it too much for work, but I say rock the stripes! (Btw, you and stairs! How lucky for you that this architectural feature has awesome lighting in both your old home and new. I'm so jealous!) :D

    1. I know, with the stairs! I actually prefer to take pics in the backyard but the deck is covered and too dark and the rest is all grass, so if I'm in heels, it doesn't work so good stomping holes/sinking into my lawn!

  2. I feel like my work would totally love it but it would have to be a day that is more relaxed and without clients in the office. I think it is totally fun!

    1. I know what you mean - I totally keep the day's schedule and proposed activities in mind when I get dressed in the mornings. Part of why I take so long, hehe.

  5. I LOVE this skirt! I always have trouble with sizing at ASOS. How did you find your size in this compared to your usual J Crew size?

    1. I usually order one size up in Asos items as they are European fit and smaller than US sizing. So I'm typically a 2/2P in JC and usually order a 4 in Asos. However, this skirt I ended up getting in a 6 since there is zero stretch in the materials and I didn't want it too tight. Hope that helps!

  6. I LOVE THIS. I love that skirt. I love it with the striped top. It looks like a super fun dress because of how you put it together! I'd love to see the "toned down" version of this too. :)

    1. My inner Rainbow Brite freezes up at the thought of toning anything down, hehe, but I think next I'll likely pair this skirt with a black t-neck or denim shirt to keep it simple and let the skirt shine on its own.

  9. I do the same thing with some of my louder outfits--add a blazer or cardigan to tone it down until quitting time :) This is such a fun and pretty outfit! I love the colors in that skirt.

  10. This is so pretty! I love the colorful stripes. I think a blazer would subdue it just enough but I wish you could have worn it as is!

  11. I adore this outfit too and would've done the same and worn a blazer to make it a bit more toned down.

  12. I would totally wear this outfit to work without a blazer, screw toning it down. That is, if I weren't so boring lately. I love the colours and stripes with that big chunky pearl necklace. Maybe you've inspired me to step it up a little, we'll see. :)

  13. You look radiant - and I have to say have the ability to make stripes work together like no other blogger.
    Kudos!

  15. I am with you... I also adore this outfit. Sooo good. I would also wear it in the office without a jacket, but we don't have any strict rules on clothing.

    1. Thanks so much! We don't have any strict rules either at the office, but I figured since there was a lot going on with this outfit, I didn't want to "overwhelm" anyone, haha.
