Monochromatic looks are a fave of mine (ivory and green versions), so when I realized this sweater and skirt were a magenta match made in heaven, of course I had to wear it together.
The awkwardness of these backyard shots come from my realization as I was attempting to take pics that high heels and grassy lawns don't work well together - it was a constant battle to keep my heels from sinking into the soil, so I was trotting around in my tip toes pretty much the whole time (so classy, so graceful - so not). Ah, well, what's a personal style blogger with no photographer and limited patience for photo shoots to do?
Have a great weekend, ladies!

Thanks!

So bright, but so cute. I have a question, do you really wear heels every day? I'd love to see you style more outfits with flats. I could use the inspiration :-) I'm also short, but my work environment is so casual that it would be weird/borderline in appropriate if I showed up in pumps! For me that's mostly a pro, but sometimes a con as I could use the boost in height, and frankly heels make many outfits look better.
ReplyDeleteGreetings Anonymous - 9 West (my fallback shoe store) has tons of flats and kitten/mid-level heels at affordable prices. They often have promotions going on - I believe this is the last weekend for 20% off 2 or more pairs. They will probably have a 30% off Friends and Family promotion soon. BTW, I work in a casual environment too, and I don't think it's _ever_ a bad idea to dress up - you will consistently look more pulled together and professional, and a lot better than your co-workers who look like they just came from a backyard barbeque or cleaning out their garage (not kidding - see it all the time in my office - ugh). Have a great weekend - Jennifer
DeleteHi, thanks for the info on Nine West. It's true, in general better to be over-dressed than under-dressed, and looking well put-together can be dressy or casual for sure. In my work environment there is also the chance of ruining anything too nice, but that is what lab coats are for I guess! Ppl come to work in track pants where I work, no joke.
DeleteHey Anon, I do have a tendency to wear heels a lot, mostly because I'm only 5'2" and try to stretch myself whenever I can, hehe. But a lot of my heels are either kitten heels or wedges, so they're comfier and easier to be mobile in. I am also one of those people who always seem to have extra pairs of shoes with me - I've got a few pairs of sneaks and flats in a drawer in my office, have a pair of flats in the trunk of the car and if I know I need to do a lot of walking, I'll wear flats then change into heels once I get to where I need to go. So though I wear heels a lot, I tend to "cheat" it when I can, hehe. I do also wear flats quite a bit though (mostly when I work from home or on weekends), so I'll def make more of an effort to show some of my "flats-friendly" ensembles in the future. Thanks much!
DeleteGreetings Anonymous - Sorry, didn't mean to be too Judgy McJudgmental there. I realize that job conditions often have a say in one's work wardrobe and that heels and pencil skirts aren't practical for everyone. And I'm happy that I'm not required to wear them every day myself :-) Cheers - Jennifer
DeleteHi Lisa, love your style so thx in advance for future flat wearing ensembles. We are the same height, but I also find it intimidating to wear heels for some reason. Well, except for formal events. JenniferD, didn't think you were being judgmental @ all.
DeleteHappy Weekend, Lisa! I wore heels yesterday and immediately got my heel sunk between a crack in the pavement and looked like a big stupid bird flapping its wings as I flailed around. Ah well.. at least I thought it was funny!

Haha! I'm a big klutz and am usually the first person to crack up at some of my own more "graceful" motions - we gotta have humor, no one's perfect! ;o)
DeleteLpve this vivid color on you and I love the necklace, too . The stacked bracelets area. Great accent and a perfect way to top this off.

I'm kind of dying to get a haircut but my hair literally has not been this long in years, so I figure I'd hold out on cutting it for a bit longer ...
DeleteGreetings Lisa - Love the turquoise in the necklace - really pops against the magenta. I wouldn't have thought of that combination, so glad you put forth the example! Cheers - Jennifer
ReplyDeleteThanks, girl! I adore touches of turquoise - this outfit became a happy turquoise accident!
DeleteThey make little plastic taps for the backs of heels to keep you stable in grass if you're interested! Love the leopard with the magenta!

Ooh, I didn't know those things existed - that sounds awful smart!
DeleteI love this look! Magenta is really a beautiful color on you. I often do the tip toe dance in my back yard for outfit photos. I need to look into these plastic taps...
ReplyDeleteThis bright color works so well on you Lisa. I have such a hard time with monochromatic looks and need to use textures to add some interest. You did such a great job here!

Magenta looks amazing - and i like the green backdrop :) even if being in heels for the pictures was a pain.
