This is may sound weird because I pretty much shop as a hobby all year long, but I along with gifts for the fam and close friends, I also like to gift myself every Christmas. I know the last thing I should be thinking about over the holidays is myself, but with all the good deals going around, but hard to pass some things up. Plus I've worked hard to earn my own money, so why not?
I don't usually buy anything over-the-top, nor do I wrap it and put it under the tree or anything, but I tend to mentally designate one (or two) items as "I shall give this to me." This year I have self-gifted the claremont tote and even "splurged" for the monogramming (monogrammed orders take up to two weeks to complete, so I am patiently waiting for my UPS guy).
Do you ladies gift yourselves over the holidays? What's on your personal wishlists?
Vest: J.Crew expedition (worn here - sim, sim, tweed)
Sweater: J.Crew camel
Shirt: J.Crew (worn here - sim in white, solid, plain collar & deal)
Jeans: Old Navy sweetheart distressed (worn here - sim)
Rings: F21shooting star knuckle & square set
Shoes: J.Crew mona tassel (worn here - sim darker, flat)
Bag: Dooney & Bourke (worn here - sim, sim, deal)
First off, I agree with you 100%. You obviously work very hard for the money you earn, so you totally deserve to treat yourself.
ReplyDeleteAlso, how cute is your outfit!! I want to try something similar for myself now with my own J.Crew sweater (the Parisienne one) and my green plaid shirt. So thanks for the inspo.
Finally, the transport tote from Madewell is on top of my personal wishlist, and since we're going to the States again this Christmas, I'm planning on getting it then! Squee!
The transport tote is awesome - if I didn't already have something similar, I would be snagging that myself. Have fun on your travels!
DeleteDear that's a nice vest! love how you pulled together these neutral colors with a loud tartan shirt. :)

My ratio of Christmas presents to myself versus everyone else is slightly out of control. True confession!
ReplyDeleteHaha - probably me too. That's probably why I don't designate the other purchases as gifts, haha.
DeleteI just ordered myself some earrings today when I was ordering a gift for a friend on Accessorize. Free delivery as well so I figured why not? It's normally something small like that if I do to be honest but it still feels nice :)
ReplyDeleteI agree!
DeleteI love this combination! You look great!
ReplyDeleteI think there's nothing wrong with gifting ourselves as well! I just bought myself a faux fur snood as my little gift to myself.

Aw, I can't wait to see it!
DeleteI love the collection of rings and the outfit is super cute.
ReplyDeleteMy husband and I don't buy gifts at Christmas, instead we each get to choose our own presents. Sure there is less surprise or excitement, but thankfully I'm not left holding some jean jacket covered in white leather fringe that I hate (one of the first Christmas presents he ever gave me and I had to figure out how to tell him just how much I hated it).
bisous

Jean jacket covered in white leather fringe ... aw, girl, I couldn't even begin ... ;o)
Deletei love that camel sweater lisa! i waited too long to purchase it on jcrew. but i'm loving it so, i just might get it on ebay. lol i treated myself to miu miu crystal loafers. hahaha i buy myself something all the time. you look great.

Ooh, those loafers are awesome!
DeleteOh Lisa, I love that sweater on you! I'm eying some Frye boots that I saw go on sale today but eeep.
ReplyDeleteI have a good understanding with my family and friends, we don't really give each other gifts anymore. We much prefer to get together and cook and eat, or go out somewhere and eat. While I don't specifically make it a point to give myself a gift, I do buy myself things on the pre-Christmas sales. I like what you do, though, maybe next year I'll save up and consciously give myself a nice gift. :)
ReplyDeleteMy friends and I give each other more "stocking stuffer" type things than real-deal gifts, more as a gesture than anything. I like the idea of doing something more as an experience for everyone, then everyone gets to enjoy!
DeleteI love your layers and I love all of those rings! Yeah for fun Christmas gifts! Can't wait to see it on the blog.

This is the first year that we will not be spending Christmas with my parents, so I'm in a slight Scrooge mood. Our tree is up (only bc we decided to put it up in our finished basement last year and I never took it down.....Oops. Add that to my Scroogeness/Laziness). I have picked up a couple things for my husband, and my mom, but that is as far as I've gotten. My online shopping for Moi however.....bring on the deliveries Mr. UPS Man!!! Oops again. I'm usually the one who loads up the presents for everyone else under the tree, but since we won't be home on Christmas Day to open.....never mind!! So shop away sister!! You deserve to splurge on you!! ;)
ReplyDeleteI visited my parents over Thanksgiving and we trimmed their tree. I honestly don't even think I'll be doing anything decorative at my own home, so that may warrant a glass of wine and little online browsing ... ;o)
DeleteI don't gift myself anything over Christmas but that sounds like a tradition I'd like to start! But don't get me wrong - I definitely took advantage of a few Cyber Monday deals so that probably counts as my gifts :)
ReplyDeleteI love that you call shopping a hobby :) I love this outfit, I swear this vest goes with everything!
ReplyDeleteYou're too cute! I MAY have gifted myself a Marc Jacobs bag on Black Friday. Maybe. I told my hubby thanks. =)
ReplyDeleteShoot, you're working your butt off recently with the fam and the new shop - you deserve it!
DeleteI always end up with a few things for myself - it's just how it goes!
ReplyDeleteLove your cute camel print sweater!

Love that your hobby is shopping…mine too!! This year I am gifting myself some new pots & pans. I just started using them today and love them. Not the most exciting gift but they will be put to great use.

I wish shopping was better cardio though, haha.
DeleteI think it is wonderful to gift yourself. After all, you work for it :)
ReplyDeleteLove that sweater! It looks so good paired with the plaid and vest. And your rings are fabulous! I might need to start gifting something to myself. I like the way you think! :)
ReplyDeleteI've been gifting to myself since Black Friday...some new J.Crew clothes and a new Coach bag. Like you said you work hard for your money - so why shouldn't we treat ourselves? Even if it's throughout the year.
ReplyDeleteI love the plaid w/the camel sweater. Self gifting...uh....yeah.
ReplyDeleteI so wish I had the money to gift myself beautiful bags too haha. I LOVE this vest on you!

A critter sweater! <3!
ReplyDeleteI don't intentionally gift myself over the holidaze, but once in a while, I do. Even worse, once in a while, I buy something I really love for a friend, and then. uh, I keep it. Yes, I do buy a replacement gift :P
