For those in the States, I hope you all had a fab Thanksgiving holiday! For me, I took a short trip to NYC. Other than visiting fam, my goal while there was to try to eat all the carbs (I came pretty close).
One cool thing about not living in the City anymore is that when I go back to visit, I have zero qualms about doing all the touristy things. I used to pretty much steer clear of anywhere in Manhattan above 34th Street, but now, I am all about Midtown. Part of the fun of being in the City is seeing all the wonder in the eyes of people who are just visiting.

Below is a medley of pics I took with my phone, some of which you may have already seen on my Instagram. As for today, it's back to the grind!
It was a bit cold on my first day in the City. / Shopping and skating at the Winter Village in Bryant Park. / The diversity of eats available is awesome - some Azerbaijani for this evening.
Love Asian bakery breads! / FAO Schwarz - can't visit NYC during the holidays without coming here. / My fave part of the store is the Build-Your-Own-Muppet section.
One of Tiffany's windows. / Love seeing the city all dressed up for the holidays. / Some macarons and "serious" reading on the evening before Thanksgiving.
Grand Central Station on Thanksgiving eve - packed! / The New York Public Library is dolled up for the holidays. / The epic hugeness that is my brother-in-law's wallet.
Loving (albeit it super-posed) pic of my nephew and I finishing up the tree trimming - cue the warm and fuzzies! / Home-made food is the best - beef noodle soup with wontons and fish cake. / Love ya, NYC!
My last bit of food in NYC - the black & white cookie, where "two races of flavor live side-by-side." / Finally at home, robed up, snacked out, and prepped to do some serious holiday shopping.
AHHHH! I am honestly so jealous of you. NYC totally has my heart and ever since I went there last year I have wanted to go back!
ReplyDeleteSpring would be warmer! ;o)
DeleteFabulous! You look adorable!!
ReplyDeleteSo near and yet so far! Had the opportunity to chaperone trips to NYC when I did my Yale stint this summer but opted for D.C. instead. Some day, Lisa. Some day...
ReplyDeleteIn the meantime, thanks for sharing your lovely memories and welcome home! :D

DeleteI love seeing the holiday windows of all the department stores in the city! But I avoid Times Square like the plague, haha!

Yeah, Times Square is really really touristy, and I never go into any of the stores there, but my BF and I went during the evening last year and it was kind of cool - the vibe of the people!

It's a really festive city to spend the holidays in, but boy was it c-c-cold!
Delete"Look to the cookie!" When the guy stomps Elaine's foot with his cane & says "Sorry" - that's an inside joke with one of my best friends. So that scene holds a special place in my heart :-) Love it!
ReplyDeleteGlad you had a good time in NYC. I've never been but the pictures I see always look fab.
Loving your whole outfit here. Those shoes are some of my fave!
Haha, we actually had babka over Christmas last year and I totally thought of that scene too!

ReplyDeleteLove the NYC photos! Especially the one of Grand Central Station and the frozen fountain. Your whole collage looks like scenes from the movies. So festive! Thank you for sharing them!

One thing about being a visitor now instead of a resident - I am more appreciative of my time there and the stuff I see/do!
