Viewing Some Neon Spots

neon + spots

I have to admit to being a long-time reality TV fan, but I'm starting to think that "real-life" TV personalities are getting overblown and played out. Ohhhh drama. So lately I'm all about plain ole regular fun TV again. Some of my current fave shows?

The Vampire Diaries - I read the books from L.J. Smith on which this series is based way back in the day and those books started my love of vampires. And I think this series with its too-good-looking-for-their-own-good cast is actually better than the books. This is one of the few shows on TV that I've watched since episode one and continue to tune in when new episodes air.

The Agents of SHIELD - Pretty much anything with super heroes, secret government agencies and the chance to see cameos from Cobie Smulders and Samuel L. Jackson.

Call the Midwife - Period drama set in 1950s East End London with stylish nurses and spunky nuns. This show has replaced Downton Abbey as my guilty pleasure PBS offering. I'd watch it for the costumes alone but it's bonus that the storylines have been so enthralling. Poor Nurse Lee!

Once Upon a Time - Fairy tale characters living and battling in the modern world? The evil queen from Snow White being a redeemable character? And she hooks up with Robin Hood? Yes, please!

  1. Love the black and yellow. I saw the skirt recently at J.Crew but was too scared of it :)
I have heard great things about Call the Midwives. I have season 1 and 2 of Downton sitting next to my dvd player..so I should finish that up before I start something else. Of course, I always make time to catch up on Hart of Dixie...ya know, quality southern soaps ;)

  2. Love this outfit! You look gorgeous in neon, and that sweater is just too cute!

We've been watching Game of Thrones, plus I finally caught up with the rest of the world and watched X-Men: First Class. And unlike the craptastic Last Stand, this one was amaze! Bring on Days of Future Past! Also, Michael Fassbender in a black turtleneck and slacks... I die! *swoons*

    1. Hollywood redoes comic book movies all the time, I wish they would redo the X-Men. But then how do you still have the same Wolverine if you redo all the other characters? Bleh ... but I am looking forward to Days of Future Past!

  3. This outfit is adorable! I don't watch any of these shows but I just watched three series of Homeland, that was intense!

  4. I am still loving neon so I hope it's here to stay! I've been watching The Office from the very beginning thanks to Netflix... such a classic. ;)

  5. I used to have my "regular" shows I would watch but then when I would miss an episode, then I was behind on what was going on. Plus I seem to only have time to watch TV at night, when the kids are asleep, maybe that's when my reality addiction started? I have to say, I do get annoyed at all the drama that some of those 'Housewives' can muster up but it's like a train wreck I can't turn away from. I did however get hooked on "Sons of Anarchy", does that count as a regular show? ;)

You look fab by the way. I love the neon. I wore a bright jacket a few weeks back and all day I felt like I was glowing, I defiantly stuck out, that's for sure.

    1. I think the Vampire Diaries is the only show I manage to catch when it actually airs, everything else I get mostly on "Watch on Demand" via Comcast, because honestly I don't really know when most of these shows air, hehe.

  6. I don't think I'll ever be able to to give up on my beloved Housewives. I think you've admitted to being a fan of theirs too (am I right?). Those bitches just provide me so much mindless entertainment. I've been loving Modern Family for a while now - wasn't into it when it first started but now I love watching the reruns and am all caught up. But honestly I don't watch much tv nowadays. With the baby in the picture I released myself from being chained to the tv for my favorite shows (there used to be one every day of the week). I used to be adamant about not missing anything but I feel much better not being a slave to the boob tube anymore. It's been surprisingly freeing.

Have a wonderful weekend! Hope you guys are having gorgeous weather like we are (finally!!)

    1. I used to be all about Bravo TV but all the pointless drama from the Housewives is kind of wearing thin on me. I think the only reality show I really enjoyed this last season was "Southern Charm" - bugged me at first, but then I grew to like it - seems like though the show was full of Bravo-lebrity drama, there was never a time where everyone was just ranting at the same time and there was plenty of humor. I'm kind of over Housewives-style drama, even from my old fave NY Housewives.

  7. Shield! OMG my husband & I love shield. I guess we are behind in the UK. In case I spoil it for anyone we've just seen the episode that ties in with captain America 2.

Call the Midwife is all finished here now, I think we are getting a Christmas special though.

    1. The only thing that bugs me about some of the British series I enjoy (Call the Midwife, Downton Abbey and The Paradise, for example) are that I don't think there are enough episodes per season! Give me more Nurse Lee, please!

  8. Oh & we are loving The Blacklist too :-)

  12. I love Vampire Diaries. It's so ridiculous. I don't even care. Just let me see the pretty people already! I'm not as into The Originals, possibly because the cast, though attractive, is not QUITE up to the Ian Sommerholder bar, in my opinion. When Pretty Little Liars is on, I'm all about it - though it is even MORE ridiculous than vampire diaries, but the outfits are great. I also like Once Upon a Time and enjoy The Mindy Project, New Girl, Modern Family, Mixology, and Bob's Burgers. Just started watching Silicon Valley, too.
As usual, I absolutely LOVE your outfit. Classy with tons of spunk!

    1. I'm so over the doppelganger thing they've got going on the Vampire Diaries, but you're right, the people are so pretty, I can't complain much. ;o) Caroline is my fave - I was all about her "redeeming" Klaus but I guess now that he's got his own show, that won't happen!

  15. Very cute outfit! Yellow is a colour I am wearing often recently...I am in love with your sweater...really beauriful!

About the series...I am a follower of Once Upon a Time too!

  16. Cute sweater!

I try to watch Game of Thrones every week, but that's about it. I'm still working through Season 3 of Glee and trying to get caught up on Grey's Anatomy but I think it's hopeless at this point.

I watched True Detective in 3 days (only 8 episodes in the season) and it was pretty amazing. There's a 5 or 6 minute long take in one of the episodes that blew my mind.

    1. I'm way too behind on Grey's Anatomy I don't think I'll ever get caught up again. Are Cristina and Owen still together - they were my fave pairing!

  17. Love this whole outfit Lisa…you look fabulous! I totally hear you about these reality shows lately...I honestly haven't been watching them for a while now. Mainly because I have the very basic cable due to my crazy travel schedule and the insane high prices. I'm all about regular shows like Scandal, Grey's Anatomy, Nashville, Grimm, Agents of Shield, Mad Men, The Walking Dead, The Mindy Project, New Girl and I can always watch any Law & Order or CSI.

    1. I'm kind of cresting the hill with the Housewives - way too much bickering and too many big egos makes the series not so fun to watch anymore, IMO.

  18. Oh, girl, welcome back to the other side of tv. I watch all of those!! Others I like are Orange is the new Black, Orphan Black, The Mindy Project (her style is to die for!), and Parks and Recreation.

I also like once upon a time, and I like your suggestion of call the midwife. I have heard good things about that and appreciate the reminder. Have a wonderful week kisses, Elle
