Hidden Floral Popcorn

hidden floral popcorn

My apologies for the brief blog absence, I was in Spain last week for work and pretty much spent all my non-working hours imbibing in ham and wine.

One thing that was difficult to get used to while I was there? Pretty much having to wait until nine-ten in the evenings just to start dinner (I know, I should be tapas-ing, but hungry hungry hippo here sometimes just wants to Eat). One thing I could get used to? Of course, the ham, especially the impressively massive displays and selections of the stuff at the local supermarkets (seriously - imagine the produce section at your local market and replace every single fruit and vegetable display with hammy ham ham).

So I ate my way through Madrid, but one thing I did not at all while I was on my trip was workout. There just didn't seem like there was enough hours between working all day, trying to get any sleep with the six hour time change and the late dinner hours. And I pretty much ate anything and everything that was put in front of me (croquettes, paella, so delicious), so who has the time for any real cardio, right? If you ladies have any advice on how you stay fit and healthy while on the road, I'd love to hear it!

  1. I did not "get" why the title of the post included the word popcorn until I saw the close up of the sweater… which I think is really cute.
I cannot give you any good advice on staying fit while traveling. When I have to travel I just eat up - I try everything and take more with me to the hotel room. Will I go back ?What If I never try this dessert again…? I pretty much try to lose the weight when I am back home.

  2. Perfect outfit. All items.
Tips for staying healthy and so on while on the road? No idea. I would say indulge while you are there and go on a strict regime the minute you are back. And hope they never send you away for two months.

    1. Haha, I know, I should be glad that my trips are never very long. But it's always "interesting" to weigh myself before and after a biz trip, I'm always heavier when I get back - trying new foods is always too tempting to miss!

    2. It is also the feeling of freedom when you are away from home which makes you want to think "what the heck... why should I restrict myself?"

  5. I just got that sweater and love it. It's so comfy and I can't wait to wear it with longer sleeve tops underneath when it gets colder. I love it with those pants!! My father in-law is obsessive about exercise to the point that whenever they travel, the first thing he does is find the nearest gym. Yeah, I'm not gonna do that. When I travel, I try to at least get out and have a 30-60 walk. Every little bit helps.

    1. It's a surprisingly warm sweater for being cotton knit - when I first wore it a few weeks ago when it was a bit warmer, I was dying hot! ;o)

  8. Oh I hope you took photos of your trip to Madrid! Love the pops of pink and the texture on that sweater. The only thing I can think of to stay in shape when you travel for a trip is to maybe try to walk everywhere. But then it sounds like you really don't have much time. Hmmm...

    1. I think I did more eating than anything else while I was in Madrid, haha. Unfortunately there wasn't a ton around the area where my hotel was that was interesting, but luckily I got to go into city centre a few times.

  9. Love those pants on you! They are so cute and flattering. You've motivated me to give them a try next time I'm at a J.Crew. But how do they look from behind, if you don't mind me asking? I see tons of bloggers with cuffed pants and they look great from the front, but I always wonder if the butt looks saggy or unflattering. With regards to exercising on the road, if the trip is short, I saw screw it and enjoy. If I'm super motivated, I love going for (short) runs, it's a way to see a new city, or hit the gym in the hotel. This way I feel less guilt when indulging.

    1. The hotel gym thing was funny this time around - my hotel had no in-house gym. They said the gym we could use was 15 minutes away - which was far enough away to dissuade any of us from actually wanting to go to the gym, haha. God forbid we've got to walk to the gym, ack! ;o)

I actually think the turner pants don't sag much in the bum area - the material hangs well and doesn't stretch out, so it holds its shape well. Plus with the crazy print - no one could see my bum if they wanted to! Granted, I did also just order the solid black ones, so wearing those may change my mind since they will have no fancy print to camo any potential saggy bum.

  10. It's the same in Cyprus with the late dinners. I normally eat around 7 so waiting until 9 or 10 would mean my blood sugar takes a nosedive & I get the rage. Ha ha! When we go as just aim for btwn 7-8 to stop me hulking out ;-)

    1. Yeah, the late eating hours was a little rough for us, especially since most kitchens didn't even open for dinner until 8-9pm. I know we were supposed to be "tapas-ing" to pass the hunger, but with late work days and early mornings, it was a bit tough. I did trade sleep for eating on this trip though, haha.

  12. It's been years since I've travelled for work (or worked outside the home, for that matter), but when I did, I would use the exercise/workout area in the hotel. Usually before dinner, right after all meetings. I think it's easier now with Kindles/ipads, etc. Just download a couple yoga or walking videos and you can do them right in the hotel room. When you're gone a week or more it makes it hard to get back into things when you get home, but if you just include it in your routine, even if it's 15 minutes, you'll probably feel better. At least you still look great - that's a great outfit.

  13. I love those shoes. I have no idea why I always forget hotels have a gym. I agree w/CC that doing videos online is what I aim for. If I aim at all. lol

  14. I love that sweater so much, and it's fun with the printed pants! And ham galore? That sounds like heaven. Spain is on my list of "Places I Must Go" and your review of it is pushing it higher up the list... As for working out while I'm traveling... if I don't use the hotel gym, I just rely on copious amounts of walking, haha!
