Ivory Popcorn

ivory

While I adore the clean crispness of a white/ivory ensemble, I usually stay away from wearing them because I'm a klutz and a quicker stain picker-upper. But I've been keen on several items from the new fall collection at  Banana Republic lately (thank you again, Marissa Webb), and this sweater and skirt have become my first two fall purchases (thank you, 40% off sale).

I don't really go by the "no white about Labor Day" rule so this hue will surely last me through fall and winter. I was, however, excited about breaking this outfit out that I neglected that this sweater and skirt are also fall-weight pieces, so I was a might bit cozy through the Southeast August weather.

I'm looking forward to pairing these pieces again in cooler temps with maybe grey or brown tights/boots. In the meantime, have a great holiday weekend for those in the States!

  1. Love the texture of the top! Really nice white outfit :) I'd be much too clumsy to wear white on white, but I do admire it on others :)

  2. I've always liked the idea of a monochromatic white look but could never pull it off. I guess the secret is off-white, eh? That, and buying the pieces from the same place. Who knew that white had so many hues?! You lok mahvelous as per usual, dahling! ;p

  5. Quicker stain picker upper--ha! I am the same way. And if I don't stain it, my kids probably will. I love this look on you so much! So crisp and classic!

    1. If I keep something clean, my dog will usually take care of tearing/staining it for me.

  6. I have that sweater saved in my online shopping cart but wasn't sure if it would be long enough in the torso... You may have convinced me to give it a go!

    1. The sweater def does not look as long or as loose as it does on the product model - I am wearing a regular length sweater and I'm only 5'2"!

  7. I love the look of winter white but if I wore that outfit something would jump out and attack it. Either the cat would sneeze on it or coffee would splash. I would love to hear in another post how the outfit did in an all day setting.
Banana Republic has always had such good quality. I really love this sweater.
    Have a great weekend,

    1. Oh yeah! Probably not the best choice to break this entire outfit out just yet, but oh well, I survived, haha.

  13. Lisa,
I adore an all white outfit, and also shades of ivory as this is. This is a classic example of a timeless look that is still fashion forward, with the textured sweater and skater type skirt. I love tonal dressing. This si also beautifully accented by your Jewelry and shoes .

  14. I forgot to mention that I also agree that rule is mostly silly. But I do think it can pally to white eyelet for example for summery fabrics. can't wait to see this outfit again with boots and a scarf.

    1. I've seen women looking uber stylish in winter white wide leg trousers in the December. Granted I don't know how they keep it all clean, but I think white looks great any season.

  15. these are gorgeous pieces - I am especially smitten with the popcorn sweater, and have severe weakness for white (spills be damned) I just adore wearing the shade.
