While I enjoy having stronger shoulders and upper arms from working out, I'm also slowly outsizing myself from a lot of tops and blazers. Nothing like trying on a blazer and not being to pick my arms because they are being squeezed like sausages in casings.
And forget about side-zip anything - I've had more than my share of half-panicked moments in dressing rooms getting "stuck" while trying to take off a try-on side-zip dress or blouse. Do you give in and have to call an SA for help so you can be seen with bra and belly hanging out while your arms and head are entangled in a frilly frock or proceed to Hulk Hogan your way out of a garment and then have to pay for something you've just shredded on-site?
Long rambling short, in this outfit, I've decided to forego any measure of discomfort and just "borrow" a tee from the mister's dresser drawers. A little oversized but nothing a bit of rolling and tucking can't fix and now my shoulders and arms are swinging fancy-free for the day.
Top: Calvin Klein men's tee (sim, steal)
Skirt: Ann Taylor striped flounce (worn here - sim cas, more navy, B&W, as dress)
Necklace: J.Crew crystal collage (worn here - sim simpler, grander)
Bracelets: Asos (sim pricey), F21 (sim), J.Crew factory chainlink
Shoes: Geox D sibilla (worn here - sim, steal, lighter, cork-hued)
Bag: Coach peyton cora (sim, sim)
Love this look and I say good for you on having some beautiful toned arms!! :)

Girl, I am working hard on them, thanks! ;o)
DeleteI love the oversized tee look paired with the sleek striped skirt. Envy of your nicely-toned arms :)
ReplyDeleteGirl you ROCK those arms. I am working on mine and I feel like they are never going to get strong!
ReplyDeleteI am still a weakling but I'm been telling myself not to be afraid to gain shoulder and arm strength. Weights!
DeleteYou styled his shirt perfectly! I am jealous of your arms. I keep saying that I'm going to start weights and it never happens. My daughter is in gymnastics which I used to also do as a kids. She was doing bridges this past weekend (arching back with hands behind head and feet flat on the floor). After a few wines, I thought, I can still do that. Right! I could do the arch, but couldn't get my arms up from the floor. Sad, sad.
ReplyDeleteI can only do a few of those bridges but I def don't like them! Weights are the way to go - I've got dumb bells at home and spend about 10 minutes after each workout with them.
DeleteOooh! Are these the new digs? The light is fabulous! And are those coffee latte walls? The color is divine. Ah, yes - and your outfit fully resonates with me and my linebacker-esque shoulders. Hulk Hogan indeed! Is that why side-zip really don't fit me?
ReplyDeleteStill trying to find the right area/time of day/lighting situation. I'm so happy for non-yellow walls but am finding that this taupe-y latte color doesn't really work well with my skin-tone in pics. I'll keep on trying!
DeleteI'm slowly starting to have more and more problems like this....my arms are bigger than the rest of my upper body, and my thighs are bigger than my waist...makes finding things that fit harder and harder! You look adorable!
ReplyDeleteI used to get scared if I do a workout routine for long enough that my thighs start getting bigger but I am pushing myself to get over that. I wanna be strong!
DeleteI've had a few panicked moments in the dressing room, but have always managed to shimmy out without destroying anything, save for my dignity.
ReplyDeleteI love the balance of the oversized tee and the fitted skirt - it's so cute!
Chic on the Cheap
I've only once had to literally Hulk Hogan my way out of a dress - thankfully it was at home with an Ebay purchase, but poor dress was never the same again, hehe.
DeleteI love the way you styled his shirt! I try to use my hubby's, but he is pretty broad shouldered for not being a big guy, thus rendering his shirts useless...
ReplyDeleteHow are you getting your arms so toned? I am working on mine...and they are getting stronger...but NOT looking like it.
I love your lipstick color. It is a perfect nude. Mind sharing the shade?
I spend about 10 minutes after each workout with some weights. I have dumb bells at home and do curls, etc. with them. I used to do a zillion reps with puny 2lbers and didn't find that they did a whole lot for me. I am currently using 10lbers and while I do a lot fewer reps, I am seeing more muscles pop!
DeleteAs for the lipstick, it's by Cover Girl, but I seem to have worn away the sticker on the bottom of the tube, I don't know the color. Sorry!
This outfit looks fabulous and your post made me laugh out load - I've had way too many experiences with dressing rooms debacles! ;)
ReplyDeleteSequins&Stilettos
I'm honestly not a fan of dressing rooms or trying on clothes in public at all!
DeleteStrong arms - yay! Love the outfit!

Love this! Glad to see wearing your man's shirt has become a "thing!" And I totally feel your pain of growing out of blazers/tops etc. I did that too last year except mine was from too many sweets while pregnant ;-)
ReplyDeleteWhat's the nail polish you're wearing?
Polish is Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in Hot Magenta, thanks!
DeleteThis made me laugh out loud! I can't even count how many times this has happened to me in dressing rooms! I'm always so horrified. My arms are definitely chubby, they always have been. I struggle to find tops that fit because I have a small waist and smaller chest but giant sausages for arms :)
ReplyDeleteYou look great! I love this look!
Yeah, I've always had "beefier" arms myself. I finally figured they are never going to be lean and little, so I may as well make them fit!
DeleteGood thinking, borrowing that T. And I don't mind asking for assistance when I am stuck. So what if they see everything.... I don't want to marry them and they don't have a camera pointed at me.

Haha, true!
DeleteI know exactly how you feel! I have disproportionately broad shoulders for my size, so jackets and shirts can be tricky to fit sometimes. Boyfriend blazers have become my best friend!
ReplyDeleteI tried on a coat at Zara this weekend and literally felt like that scene from "Tommy Boy" where Chris Farley puts on David Spade's blazers and sings "fat guy in a little coat ..." ;o)
DeleteNever would have known it was a guys tee unless I'd read your post - it looks really good! The kind of tee I like, comfortable, oversized so it always fits, and looks great partially tucked in! :) In fact, I'd wear this entire outfit! :)
ReplyDeleteAway From The Blue
And not too way low-cut that I feel like I'm exposing myself every time I lean over since I have non-boobs! ;o)
DeleteI like how your bf's tee looks like a great oversized tee. I have had way too many stuck in the dressing room moments....not fun and I start sweating like crazy all of a sudden.

Do you remember that scene from "Friends" when Ross weasr leather pants for the first time, then has to use the bathroom when he's at that cute girl's apartment? He ended up pulling his pants down because he was sweating so bad in them, but then he could take his pants off or pull them back on. I feel like that is me sometimes trying on tops, haha!
DeleteThat is one of the most hysterical scenes on TV. Ever. I am cracking up now just thinking about it!
DeleteLove you in neutrals, Lisa!
xo,cynthia
I like it -. its different to your usual wear, but you look so relaxed and well dressed.
ReplyDeleteToo funny! I think we've all had that moment in the dressing room! And I love that tee on you, never would've guessed it was a men's tee. Nice job on styling it!
ReplyDeleteGirl, I've had more than my share! Now I just plain stay away from side-zip anything!
DeleteAh, the ol' sausage arm dilemma -- though your arms look so good and toned that I'd say suffering the occasional arm-can't-fit-oh-god-now-this-won't-zip freakout is well worth it. Especially since you have some breezy shirts you can borrow! :) I love that skirt too!
ReplyDeleteI once thought I'd have to cut myself out of a dress when a zipper BROKE while I was zipping it up -- it wasn't even too tight. I think I just zipped myself up with too much gusto or something. That was weird to explain to the SA at Ann Taylor.
you are looking fit and buff, and this is a great outfit. i've had my share of the side zipper rescue mission so i feel for you on that too!
ReplyDeleteYou always look great in stripes, Lisa. Your skirt is a must-have for any women's closet. As always, gorgeous jewels, too.
