I am completely a creature of habit. I guess I am an old lady at heart because there are just certain things that I like to have done a certain way.
I eat breakfast every morning partly because ... I eat breakfast every morning. I sit on the right side of the couch, I sleep laying on my left, I brush my teeth for for the entire two minute Sonicare cycle. Once I like a certain dish at a restaurant, that will be about the only thing I order when I go there (Cracker Barrel, you had me at house salad with ranch and chicken and dumplings). I've been pretty consistent with the treadmill each day and have not given myself any time off unless I'm traveling, because I know one day off will soon equal two days off, then three ... And if I like a book or a movie/show, I can reread or watch reruns without fail over and over and over ... ad nauseum.

Currently on repeat with me? Born Round by Frank Bruni. A Homemade Life by Molly Wizenberg. Mystic Pizza with Julia Roberts and Lili Taylor. No Reservations or Bizarre Foods,
if either happens to be on when I'm watching TV, the remote stops
there. (Wow, just realizing all this stuff has a food-related slant to
it - what does that say about me?)
Are any of you creatures of habit? What are some of yours? Are there any books or shows that you don't seem to ever tire of?

A special thanks to RedEnvelope for gifting me this beautiful sterling silver open heart necklace. It's a beautiful piece that's both delicate and a little rustic, a great choice to wear on days when I just don't feel like a big heavy statement piece. RedEnvelope has been one of my long-time go-to places to find unique gifts - they've got stylish and quirky pieces, loads of them which can be personalized!
The open heart necklace Red Envelope gifted you Lisa is gorgeous. Looks lovely on you. They always have really nice items. I'm definitely a creature of habit. I sleep on the right side of the bed. I must have seen Pretty In Pink, The Breakfast Club & St. Elmo's Fire like a GAZILLION times and I still can watch them over and over again. HaHaHa And whenever I go to my favorite Chinese Restaurant I order the SAME thing. HaHaHa Some things in life are just that good! Love your red jeans and those leopard ballet flats. Have a great day.

Ooh,Pretty in Pink was awesome!
DeleteI'm totally with you on this. I eat breakfast everyday. It boggles my mind that people don't do it. And there are a few things on tv that if I'm flipping through and they are on, I will always stop to watch it. This includes the movies Clueless and 13 Going On 30 (I swear I have better taste in movies than this haha) or the shows Big Bang Theory and How I Met Your Mother, which is dangerous because these shows are on re-runs on different channels at just about any given time of day. I was also recently heart-broken to discovery that my go-to dinner at Olive Garden was taken on the menu. I seriously don't even need to go anymore.
ReplyDeleteOh and of course, I am loving your shoes!
13 going on 30 is so fun! I wish Jen Garner would do more movies like that, or more ass-kicking movies!
DeleteSame here! Totally a creature of habit, which works out because my husband is the same. Wouldn't we have an interesting double date? :)
ReplyDeleteYeah, we may all end up at different restaurants, haha! ;o)
DeleteLoving the stripes and red skinny jeans!
ReplyDeleteI am less of a creature of habit since I am in college and things change so much for me but before I was in college I so like you!
ReplyDeleteI fluctuate between being a creature of habit and flying by the seat of my pants. It's my nature; I'm the quintessential Gemini. That said, there are certain comforts I am loathe to give up: my Vivienne Westwood knuckle ring, the Balm Schwing eyeliner and my Tag Heuer watch. Gimme those three things and I can instantly feel put together. They all feature consistently in every outfit I create.

Burt's Bees lip balm - it's like I'm naked without it!
DeleteI am such a creature of habit too! I eat cereal for breakfast every single morning (with the exception of weekends when I've usually run out of cereal). I do the same thing with restaurants..once I find something I love there, I'll just keep ordering that and nothing new. If if ain't broke, why fix it? :)

If Friends is on, I'm watching. The same goes for Billy Madison and Erin Brockovich. And I almost always order the same exact thing at every restaurant I go to.
ReplyDeleteOh, I used to be so into Friends!
DeleteI'm very much a creature of habit. I've become even more so since my back injury which necessitates several periods of prone rest per day or I end up in terrible pain. Every evening, I take a hot bath and then lie on ice packs, drink a martini, and watch Murder She Wrote. Seriously!
ReplyDeleteI'm also most likely to be reading Agatha Christie or P.G.Wodehouse at bedtime but, when I'm really down, nothing is better than one of the books in the Narnia series. I've been re-reading them since I was eight years old.

Martinis are excellent habits! ;o)
Deleteoh yes. total creature of habit - i even walk the same side of the street to work in the morning. i always order my favorite indian dish at any indian restaurant - i don't even have to open the menu.
ReplyDeletesuch a lovely necklace, too!
If I go to an Indian restaurant, there must be naan. Lots and lots of naan.
DeleteI used to be like that and I still am to a certain extent--I definitely like things done my way. But after I had kids, all of that went out the window. We're a family on a whim at this point! I love your red, stripes, lace and vest Lisa!
ReplyDeleteOMG - I'm the exact same way!! And I'm not a happy camper when my routines get altered. I'm trying to cure myself of the restaurant thing but it's just so hard when you find something you like!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE your red jeans! And the lace detail on your top is so cute!!

I'm the same as you when it comes to ordering at restaurants...once I find something I love, that's all I want! Love your cute stripes!
ReplyDeleteIRL, I'm very Type A++ about a lot (husband would say All) of things, so routine quirks are common with me. (Btw, I can't order anything else at CB except house salad & dumplings too). I like certain errands on certain days, lists galore, planning way far out, & I live for punctuality. Snoozefest, I know, but i must enjoy being tense - ha!
ReplyDeleteOh, and my OCD extends to tv, books, whatever. One book about fundamentalist polygamists? Try 12. I'll read every single book in a series in 2 weeks, and I loooove me a good tv marathon.
DeleteHehe, we totally need to go to CB together - it'll make ordering easy.
DeleteLove your nail polish--what is it???
ReplyDeleteTaylor
Hi there - it's Revlon cafe pink!
DeleteThis is so pretty! I've been looking for a military jacket like that for ever. I still can't find one. There's so many ways to wear it.
ReplyDeleteIf you have time, check out my giveaway I'm holding on my blog for a Naked 2 palette. I'd greatly appreciate it. :)

Creature of habit as well. But that's what keeps us sane, right? I like change every once in a while but somehow I always end up resorting back to my previous way of doing things :) I do love watching TV shows/movies in the evening with the hubs - so routine but so much fun!

I am definitely a creature of habit! Love those cheetah shoes!
ReplyDeleteI'm totally a creature of habit, this morning my son woke up an hour early and I was totally thrown off. I'm lucky I remembered to put on deodorant :) love the shoes and that necklace is so sweet!

I was like that before, but i have learn to compromise to please people around me, before it was either my way or no way lol, i love your vest, the leo flat are cute:) thanks for stopping by my blog.

This is adorable! I love that top and those cute cute flats.
ReplyDeleteWe are all creatures of habit. That way we don't have to spend energy on things we have already found out to be good. And we can give our energy to... OUTFITS!
ReplyDeleteYeah.
This outfit rocks again. Lovely. Everything is, but especially the trousers. OK and the boots..and....
Oh Lisa, I am very sorry, but I accidently deleted your comment on my blog (orange coat). I was publishing comments on my iPhone when my thick fingers got in the way... and your comment was deleted instead of published. Cannot get it back. I do apologize.
DeleteGreetje
Don't worry, I think I've done that myself - I only publish comments when I am on Blogger now, hehe.
DeleteI am so a creature of habit too and I like my mundane routine! Love this look Lisa! The vest, the cute anthro top, red jeans...the whole outfit is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteSorry...
DeleteI'm an old lady at heart, too.I guess a routine gives a sense of security.Lovely shoes Lisa :)!XO
Love the color combinations!
ReplyDeleteWow, so many things I love about this outfit! The stripes, the lace, those SHOES! So cute.
ReplyDeleteYou just reminded me that i have not worn my red jeans in a while.
ReplyDeleteI am an old soul too - i've come to terms with it :)
Figure get the wear out of these cords while I still can! One of these days it'll get warmer!
DeleteCreature of habit? Hmm, I know that I do like to have things done a certain way. But I am fairly flexible. I do like to have "habits" when it comes to fitness, church, and morals, but those things have evolved into a way of life rather than habits. Habits just sound so negative. So in that sense, I guess I could be an old soul...
ReplyDeleteLove, Richelle from Lynn + Lou
I always thought I'm a creature of habit, but after reading your quirks (meant in a totally endearing way), I'm rather spontaneous in comparison. Who knew?!
ReplyDeleteI adore this slighty matchy-matchy-but-not-really outfit. THe color combos are awesome.
I'm a total creature of habit. Especially when it comes to working out. Because you're right; the days off just start to snowball. I can also watch No Reservations or Bizarre Foods over and over again (doesn't matter if i've already seen that episode a bajillion times).

lovesytlehappiness.blogspot.com
I totally did some of that this weekend, they had old episodes of both shows on. Can't get enough!
DeleteOnce I find something I love, I also like to stick with it, especially at a restaurant. I've tried to branch out too many times and been left disappointed because of it!
ReplyDeleteSequins&Stilettos
I love this classic sailor look of red pants with strips!
ReplyDeletewww.trendinginfashion.blogspot.com
Love your shirt, is is so beautful!
ReplyDeletelooks so comfy and chic at the same time. i always order the same thing when i find a combo i love. another creature of habit here!

Love your striped tee with the vest. Very chic as always. There are so many habits that I cannot get rid of. They kind of give my mind a break when they are so routine and don't require any thinking :)
ReplyDeleteNo Reservations is awesome, and your necklace is so pretty!
ReplyDeleteMy my I am soooo like that too & I get quite upset when the status quo is disturbed hahaha! I am STILL looking for a military inspired vest like what you're wearing Lisa. BTW, I hope you could drop by my blog soon so you could get instruction on how to help me win the Wallis search for its 1st US Blogger-Ambassador....when you got time. Happy Easter!!!

Ooh, good luck with the Wallis competition - and congrats on making it on the list!
Deletei think i am a creature of habits for things i enjoy. i HATE exercising, so i never want to do it. even if i try to make it a habit. :(
ReplyDeletehope you had a lovely easter weekend!
modern.girl
Is it weird that the thing I hate worst about exercising is the sweating? ;o)
DeleteCute outfit! Love the stripes and the lacey details on the hem :) You look cute in this!
ReplyDeleteHope you can check out my new post on the site. I'd love to hear what you think!
http://fashchronicles.blogspot.com
Hope you had a great Easter weekend! And if being a creature of habit means being an old lady, then I am too. :) I also approve of the food-related slant, I'm not so much into Bizarre Foods, but definitely No Reservations and The Layover. :)
ReplyDeleteDid you hear that Anthony Bourdain has a new show on CNN now? I think I totally missed the debut but I think it'll be another rehash of No Reservation with less food (but the food is what I love!)
DeleteThis is such a chic weekend look! And I'm the same! EVERYTHING I do is habit.. same foods, same schedule - I bore myself sometimes!

Great color on the cargo vest. I have one but it is a bit too green...I love the shade on yours. The lace and the vest are perfect in my opinion. :)
