Not Guilty

casual layers casual layers

The great Christmas-New Year holiday countdown continues tick tock tick tock and though I'm done with my present purchasing, I have yet to wrap a single thing. Plus I plan to do some traveling over the next week or so and determining what to pack for three locations has been a bit of a mental challenge - don't even ask if it'll all fit yet, I haven't gotten that far!

One thing I do know is that as we inch closer and closer to next week, my mind slips further and further away from the capability to do anything productive at work (sorry, work). Granted I look forward to seeing family and friends and sharing in cozy warm togetherness, but I really like the idea of being off work for an extended period. At the same time that pretty much everyone else I know is off work - i.e., new projects and requests don't pile up in my absence and my last days off won't be riddled with worried thoughts of what am I going back to?

(Those of you who have to work between Christmas and New Year's, I feel for you. I've been there myself flying back on Christmas day so I can be at the office on the 26th and it isn't so awesome. However, the office shenanigans that ensue during that week of lackluster work can be awful fun ...)

I'll look forward to  fa la la-ing the chilly mornings away under the covers and guilt-free afternoons spent reading / sharing in good treats / or shoot, even staring off into the distance while I twiddle my thumbs if I feel like it. 'Tis the season!

  4. I started wrapping yesterday during Elodie's nap. I could do the rest now whilst she naps. Or I could nap myself!

    1. Still haven't wrapped a thing yet, though I did put a gift card into one of those gift card holder boxes - does that count as wrapping? ;o)

  7. I love this! You look SO cozy. I'd like to live in that outfit right now. I don't know why I didn't buy any maternity leggings...That was dumb. But now that I'm only 3 weeks away from being done I feel like it's just as dumb to buy any more maternity clothes. I may have to break down...

Anyway, I hope you have a wonderful holiday week with family & friends! I'll be one of the "lucky" few stuck at work. I only get Christmas & New Year's day off. Pretty shitty considering I could use a week off now more than ever.

Boy, that was a lot of complaining in one comment! Coffee hasn't kicked in yet... :-)

  10. I'm pretty much off for the next two weeks so Friday can't come fast enough. I've had plenty to do here with new insurance plans so I'm staying busy but also looking forward to staying at home.

Love the outfit - you look so holiday festive without being overdone. :)

    1. I am living in my quilted vests, plus I can wear them indoors and not feel completely weird, like I would if I was walking around all over the place inside with a big puffy jacket on.

    1. Traveling on Christmas day is not too bad, but it felt weird to wake up that morning, tell my parents "Merry Christmas" and then have to leave. And then to be at the office starting on the 26th with not a whole lot going on because everyone else is pretty much gone ...
