Hey ladies! I'm back from a work trip that took me across the pond to Bangkok. I can't say enough about how nice Thai people are, they will bend over backwards to be helpful. I didn't have an opportunity to see much of the city between limited free time and the epicness that is Bangkok traffic. But I did manage some good eats, snuck a massage in one evening, and may have snuck food to some stray cats and dogs ... though I've never seen such healthy-looking strays before. I hope for an opportunity to go back someday to explore.

Outbound on my trip - my first flight for me on an A380 with a dedicated level for business class.
Very nice indeedy ...
Very nice indeedy ...
Bibimbap, airplane-style.
Some delicious eats once on land: pad thai with an egg yolk "net" and wi hok norn rang (fried shrimp done like a cute bird's nest), with hor mok (steam fish paste custard) in the background. Almost too cute to eat.
One of hundreds of hidden little gem restaurants along the Chao Phraya River.
The view from my massage table. I was able to treat myself a bit during this trip. (Health Land is a great little spa where you can get spoiled for cheap). / Me and my new pal, Thai Ronald.
The line-up of crab at Somboon Seafood - that place is four stories of crazy busy!
Had my first taste of coconut water - dare I say it tasted like corn? / Somboon's famous fried curry crab.
I'm not much into souvenirs but I couldn't resist this little guy - Oh! Bears, made in Bangkok.
Last bit of Thailand from the airport ... and then on to my fave airport for meandering, Seoul's Incheon.
Hello, dancing Psy dolls!
Hello, dancing Psy dolls!
Aside from a plethora of duty-free and designer shops, Incheon's got the Charlie Brown Cafe!
... which happens to be two gates away from the Hello Kitty Cafe! Cuteness alert!
I love seeing pics from travels! Especially the food pics. Looks amazing and yummy!
ReplyDeleteThailand is awesome! I haven't been back in ages. The food pictures are making me hungry and I am hours away from lunch!
ReplyDeleteDid you get to explore Seoul or just Incheon? I don't know how I missed the Hello Kitty cafe when I was in Incheon 2 years ago but not making that mistake again when I fly through in December.
The HK and CB cafes are both in the International terminal around gate 20-ish, close to each other.
DeleteMy layover in Seoul was not long enough to leave the airport - I'd love for the opp to visit S. Korea someday though!
Thank you! Writing this down so I don't forget :)
DeleteI love Bangkok! We went there for our honeymoon and I had a great time eating and shopping. I definitely want to go back someday! And isn't the A380 the bomb?! I hardly ever travel by business class but when I do, I try to make sure it's an A380. It's so luxurious!
ReplyDeleteI was initially expecting mobs of people to board, etc. but it really all went quickly and smoothly.
DeleteSo cool to see these pics. My husband just got back from 3 weeks there and never takes any cool pics. He did come back with a brutal sunburn and it makes me wonder just how much "work" he is fitting in! LOL

I guess your hubby got to spend some time on the beach! ;o)
Deletesuch awesome pictures. The food. The business class meal certainly looked delicious! Love Thai food and I went to Bangkok long long time ago. But could still remotely recall how great the food there is. How cute the Charlie Brown and Hello Kitty cafe. I would be in heaven there :)
ReplyDeleteIt probably wasn't the best bibimbap I've had, but definitely an improvement over most airplane food. I also had some noodle soup and a tofu/fried rice deal that was delish.
DeleteWow, that looks like so much fun. You are so lucky that you get to travel to all these places for work! The food looks incredibly delicious.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a fun trip, even if it was for business! The teddy bear you got as a souvenir is too cute!

Wow, everything looks amazing - the food presentation, even on the plane is pretty impressive. Glad you had a good trip, it must be nice to see and experience different parts of the world, even if it is for business.

I love trying new foods, so getting to travel definitely satisfied my food curiosities!
DeleteI love seeing photos from your travels! Thanks for sharing!! The colors in this outfit are gorgeous together!

That bear with the elephants is so darn cute--I wouldn't be able to resist him either! I am glad you get to travel so much for your job--that is awesome! I love the green and blue today too!
ReplyDeleteAs a grown-ass adult, I probably don't need any more stuffed animals in my life, but I had some leftover bahts to use up, and there that bear was ...
DeleteOh wow this looks like a great trip! The food looks delicious and the bear is so cute! Loving the bright pink and blue in your outfit today =)
ReplyDeleteI would love to get to Thailand one day! And um, Hello Kitty cafe? Yes please.
ReplyDeleteI took the pics of the HK cafe with my phone, turned around and then the place got mobbed, so I decided against stopping for a cute cake or smoothie.
DeleteMan, what job do you have that lets you travel? I'm quite envious, Thailand sounds absolutely fantastic! Did you run into any trouble at all? I've had several friends tell me of shady business practices and drivers that try to rip them off. Thanks for sharing, it's fun to see the nicer side of the country!
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately I didn't get to travel around too much in Bangkok but I've been there a few times and other than ferocious traffic, I thought everyone was really nice and didn't have any trouble. If going to one of their big weekend markets, I've been advised to keep careful hold of my belongings and barter, barter, barter. Most restaurants have menus with pics to make ordering food easier since most locals don't speak much English and everything is pretty cheap by US standards.
DeleteI work in mktg and often go to trade shows or visit my company's offices around the globe, so I'm lucky that I've been able to get to travel quite a bit.
You go on some pretty awesome trips I must say! Glad to see Psy has officially conquered world domination ;-)
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely love the color combo of this outfit. I tend to shy away from pink paired with blue but with the right shades it's lovely. You definitely did it RIGHT!
PS - hope you beat your cold before it got too bad!
DeleteI seem to be keeping the cold at bay as I've been vitamin C-ing it quite a bit - though my sleep cycle is wrecked!
DeleteI love this outfit - the colors are so vibrant and I just adore that necklace!
ReplyDeleteGreat pics from your work trip - the food looks amazing!!

Wow you are super lucky to travel for your job :) Loving all the pics ~ The airport looks cool!

14 hours on a plane is brutal though - I get soooo stuffed up and my skin is usually a wreck!
DeleteYou visited two of my favourite cities! I lived in Cambodia for a few years and would regularly escape to Bangkok to relax. That might sound weird but I love the food, the shopping, getting massages, going to movies (at one theater, he air conditioning is ferocious, the seats are plush reclining armchairs and the ushers tuck blankets around you so you don't get too cold and bring you yummy snacks).
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your photos!
Ooh, I want to go to that theatre - now if you could get a foot massage at the same time, hm ...
DeleteBangkok is definitely a destination on my list of "must visit" places. Thanks for sharing a bit about your travels!
ReplyDeleteI really love the colors in this outfit, particularly in combination with your leopard heels!
Lovely pictures of your travels and of course your outfit! I love how cute the food looks. The hello kitty and snoopy cafe/store would be right up my alley! Thanks for sharing your adventures!
ReplyDeleteI should have stopped longer and taken pics of their cute cakes at both cafes - Snoopy and HK shaped cakes and such.
DeleteThat is the fanciest plane I've ever seen. Love the blue and pink color combo.

I should be going to bed, yet my mind has been inundated with images of delicious cuisines... and my tummy feels left out of that party! Uh oh.
ReplyDeleteBeyond the food, I love how streamlined your outfit is. Maybe I will concentrate on how I can recreate it is a means of getting my mind off of food....
I have a hard time myself of alternating between food and fashion, haha.
DeleteWhat a cool and amazing post! Love it!

I've always wanted to know what coconut water tastes like and now I know. But I want to partake in everything else you had ;) so yummy looking!
ReplyDeleteGood reminder for bright colors with animal print ... cute!
Yeah, I'm not too much of a fan of coconut water. Plain ole water for me, please.
DeleteOh wow! I want to go there and eat ALL THE THINGS! Yum.

That job of yours isn't bad, is it? Lovely pictures of Thailand. And how on earth do you come up with a combination of a pink top with a blue skirt and leopard shoes? It works so well, but why?
ReplyDeleteGreetje
Oh my goodness Lisa! Everything looks amazing!! I love that view from your massage table...the details matter right? And I have to add how pretty you look in the magenta sweater and blue skirt!! So feminine and sophisticated!!
ReplyDeleteI have to admit, I think I fell asleep through some of my massage - so relaxing! Until the gal started working out the knots in my shoulders with her elbows - ouch!
DeleteThe cobalt blue looks great! I've got a skirt that same color and I really enjoy wearing it!!
ReplyDeletewelcome back lisa! what a fabulous trip girl! the plane, airport and food look amazing. hahaha Hello Kitty is definitely there. i think i read about a Hello Kitty plane they have w/Hello Kitty bento boxes, pillows and everything. you look great. so glad you had a great time.

Yes, that's EVA Airlines out of Taiwan. I think that would be too cute to fly in - but wonder what all the business men would think, being handed a cutsie lunch? ;o)
DeleteI've been to Thailand a few times, but I've never really spent any time in Bangkok. That bird's nest-styled dish is so creative, I've definitely never seen anything like that!
ReplyDeleteGood eats indeed, Lisa! I hope you can go back to explore Bangkok at leisure one day. It looks like an amazing place, and even better if the people are so warm and welcoming. Your souvenir bear IS adorable. :)
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh! A Charlie Brown and Hello Kitty Cafe?!! Awesome! I am jealous of your nice airline seats. I just got back from my trip and felt like a sardine on the plane - we were all so smooshed together.
ReplyDeleteThank you for pointing out that you felt the stray cats and dogs were looking well fed. I tend to panic a little about stuff like that. Even if I can't do anything about it.
xo,cynthia
I'm very late in commenting, but what a fantastic trip!! There's nothing quite like flying business class to an exotic location...even if you do have to work most of the time.
