Though the print mildly resembles the before shot during a Tide laundry commercial, I've got some unexplainable love for this top. Because it is somehow ridiculously cheerful to me, and because it resembles the MSGM original which I covet, especially after seeing this outfit.
But in no way can I replicate that outfit without looking like an overgrown second-grader, so instead I opt to neutralize the crazy watercolor print as best as I could with some denim-on-denim action.
So what do you think? And how would you recommend I wear this top?
Top: c/o Choies floral
Shirt: LEC oxford (worn here - sim, sim, spotted)
Jeans: J.Crew destroyed matchstick (worn here - sim, pricey, deal)
Necklace: J.Crew factory cameo chandelier (worn here - sim, sim)
Bracelets: Yunikelley (worn here - sim, sim), Target (sim)
Shoes: c/o ShoeMint (worn here - sim, point-toed, pricey)
Oh, that is so pretty. I love the way you styled it here, but you could definitely go super glam with it by pairing it with a pencil skirt. Of course you could be safe and wear it with a neutral colored pencil skirt, but I would love to see it with a hot pink pencil. You must have a hot pink skirt in your closet!
ReplyDeleteI tried it with a pink flared skirt but it seemed too 2nd-grade, if you know what I mean. But I hadn't considered a pencil skirt - I will need to try that next, thanks!
Deletethe water color top looks great here!! love this outfit, so floral and pretty!
ReplyDeleteThis sweater is GORGEOUS! I think you wore it perfectly. It looks great against blue!
ReplyDeleteI love this! The sweater is gorgeous and I love how you are transitioning it to the fall!
ReplyDeleteSlowly but surely it is getting cooler in the SE - which means soon it'll be time for SE winters. Which means cold and rainy wet, bleh.
DeleteLoveeee the top!!
ReplyDeleteI think I can't wear that floral top as beautiful as you do and honestly I wont change anything. That looks suits you well and rock solid. And yes it brings a more cheerful side of you.

I love this sweater and it does look so similar to the sweater you linked. I like how you kept this outfit neutral to bring attention to such a great sweater!

Oh my! What a gorgeous sweater! It would be so fun to wear it during cold months awaiting for spring. It looks like one of those pieces of clothing that would instantly lift your mood.
ReplyDeleteI feel like the top kind of slaps me across the face and demands that I be cheeful, haha.
Deletegorgeous sweater!! i'd wear it with a black pencil skirt with black booties to spice it up a bit. i love how you styled it with the denim too though!
ReplyDeleteGood idea for cooler weather - thanks!
DeleteThat colorful floral print is soo pretty! I don't think you should be afraid of pairing it with color :)

I think you've done a great job by pairing it with neutrals and more "adult" accessories like the clutch and the heels. I think it would also be fun with some bright pink or orange skinny jeans though!
ReplyDeleteSecond vote for pairing it with bright pink. I'll need to try that next.
Deletei LOVE that top! it makes me happy just looking at it :)
ReplyDeleteOooooh, that would look great with a bright colored pencil skirt (cobalt blue, or pink or yellow or green or red!) Such a cute top, Lisa!
ReplyDeleteI didn't think about pairing it with a pencil skirt, thanks for the rec!
DeleteIt's a gorgeous floral top Lisa. It would also look great with a skirt (full, pleated or pencil). It can be dressed up or down.

Spot on for styling this top! I'm sure it will look just as good with black jeans in the winter, or even with army-green skinnies :)
ReplyDeleteOoh, I need army green skinnies ...
DeleteI love that sweater. It looks like water colors splashed all over it. It looks great with boyfriend jeans

The print is really cute :) I would stick to neutrals and let it stand out!
ReplyDeleteI adore the floral watercolor with the ripped denim. love the synergy and contrast. The statement necklace, also, is great. Fabulous look, Lisa!

Oh, I know! You should wear it With a stripey A-line skirt, either black stripes or red ones, and then you New red wedges. They'll go so well With the bits of red inside the big blossoms! And stripes + florals = Instant win, right? :)
ReplyDeleteThis is true. Stripes are a neutral, right? ;o)
DeleteThe shoes look divine. A request for a closeup shot on your next outfit please...:)
ReplyDeleteI've worn these shoes before (http://respecttheshoes.blogspot.com/2012/03/mint-y-new-shoes.html) but you will definitely see them again and again this fall. One of my fave pairs. Thanks!
DeleteI think you styled it perfectly! Love that necklace. And I agree with other, stripes would be cute with it too.
ReplyDeleteThat top is gorgeous! You gotta love a shirt that goes with every color:)
ReplyDeleteI really like how you've styled it here with oxford.
Haha, that's true!

J'adore that jumper! It's so lively and fun! Wish I fit in Choies clothing 'coz I'd snap that up in an instant! Also, I think you could totally pull off the inspiration look without looking twee. I have faith! ;p

I find they run a bit small so it def helps that they've got the size measurements on each piece.
DeleteLove the floral top!
ReplyDeleteGreat Post... :)
ReplyDeleteI absolutely LOVE the way you've styled this top. It looks like it would be a difficult piece to incorporate into an outfit, but you've done it magnificently. LOVE!! :)
ReplyDeleteThis sweater is gorgeous! Love all of the colors :)
ReplyDeleteSuch a pretty top! You can pair it with bold/plain colors similar with the colors on your top, or top + neutrals, it might work :)
ReplyDeleteLove that top! The colors are fabulous, and it doesn't look like the "before" of a Tide commercial (although that was quite funny). It looks great with the boyfriend jeans! I would pair it with an A line skirt and/or a pencil skirt too.

Pairing it with a pencil skirt seems to be the winning suggestion - I will def need to try that, thanks!
DeleteWhat a unique sweater! Jeans are a good choice. I would also layer it with a blazer or jacket if you're not in the mood to show quite as much color.
ReplyDeletegreat outfit!!! love the jumper

That top is beyond gorgeous and I love that necklace!
ReplyDeleteThat sweater is too cute! I love how you grunged it down a bit with the jeans :D

I used to make fun of these pre-destroyed jeans, but I actually really like them. They're super-soft. Plus as an adult, I'm skinning my knees and ripping my pants on my own a lot less, haha.
DeleteI can't even begin to explain how much I ADORE this outfit, Lisa! :D If only I had the neck to replicate the look I would. (Collars tend to make my short neck disappear.) Haha!

I LOVE this outfit and it's perfect use of color and composition! It just sings happy!!
ReplyDeleteSuch a lovely sweater! If I may also make some recommendations?? How about this outfit without the shirt peeping out from under the sweater? It sort of cuts you in three parts. And I have the same suggestion as Dina: how about a pencil skirt?
ReplyDeleteGreetje
I love your pretty outfit! The colors are great, you look so full of life...
ReplyDeleteTide Laundry Commercial hahahaa. Where do you come up with these metaphors?! LOL You are definitely not awash. That Sweater is Gorgeous and it goes with everything. The Necklace definitely pops, also. =)
