One thing for me about being a style blogger - I feel there is kind of a pressure to be ahead of the game somehow. Whether it be getting and wearing the latest arrival out there (and doing it before anyone else), the urge to jump on a trend bandwagon (because you don't want to get left behind, do you), or the need to think of the most unique ways to wear things while still having a wearable outfit - you gotta be with it be a style blogger.
Take now for instance. I feel like since July ended, I've been seeing a ton of folks in blogdom prancing around non-stop in leather jackets, fuzzy hats and sweaters and big ole boots already. I mean, I get it, it's back-to-school time for a lot of folks, fall clothes are just more creative, and some people are probably over the heat. And yes, it's new stuff.
But come on, it's still August. We're still a month out from it technically being fall and it is still really hot in most parts of the States. Leather and boots seem a bit much for me, literally. I mean, I've still got warm weather clothes I haven't worn yet.
Like this top which I've wanted since first sight, but waited and waited until it hit sale plus additional % off. I guess if I wait any longer to wear it and show it on the blog, other folks will be rocking tights and coats!
Are you already in fall gear or are you trying to squeeze every bit out of summer as you can?

I'm definitely trying to squeeze every last bit of juice out of this summer, but it's getting so darn cold up here in Norway! :( I left the house and then had to go back for a sweater!
ReplyDeleteLove this shirt on you, by the way! I get what you mean about keeping up, but I think rather than being "with it", what makes someone's blog interesting is when they have their own unique style. And I definitely think this top fits into that category for you, along with the Empress dress you wore in your last post. Just my two cents' (or two kroner's!) worth. :)
Thanks, Gwen!
DeleteYes, yes and more yes. While I would love to be rushing out and wearing floppy hats and fur....it's still freaking August. The Midwest has been unseasonably cool but it still isn't fall weather so I am being super impatient because as much as I love fall, I need it to still be summer for a few more weeks!
ReplyDeleteMe too!
DeleteThat top is really awesome! Our weather here has been weird recently...pretty cool in the morning and at night, but of course steaming hot during the day...it has made layers necessary!
ReplyDeleteIt's been pretty warm but relentlessly overcast and often rainy in the SE this past few weeks. I want some bright sun already!
DeleteLoving this top! I already bought some Fall clothes but I've been trying to hold out on wearing them yet!

I agree, I want it to stay summer for as long as possible!
ReplyDeletei absolutely agree with you - i'm not ready to deal with fall and autumn yet even though the kids are going back to school next week. you look fantastic in this outfit. so cute!
ReplyDeleteyour shirt is so cute! I checked the site but it's sold out :(
ReplyDeleteI hear you...just because stores are already unleashing their fall gear doesn't mean we should be wearing it already...if i saw someone walking down the street in suede booties and a sweater, i'd think they were silly. it's still warm here in Chi-town.

The top keeps popping back in the sale section every now and then, you may luck out!
DeleteCute look! Especially love how you paired the top with fun punches of color with your earrings and shoes...darling! Out here in the mid-west fall weather has already begun (some weeks) so I'm legitimately wearing fall clothes already...crazy!
ReplyDeleteLucky you for fall weather (I do love fall, my fave season), but I'm in no rush for the cooler temps just yet!
Deletethose shoes are to DIE FOR!! great color and they look fantastic on you.

I think it's pretty hilarious seeing bloggers wear their fall clothes now and you just know they're sweating their butts off in it. I will continue to wear my summer clothes till the temps drop!

You live so close to the beach, it'd be a crime to wear cool weather clothes just yet!
DeleteI'm with you. I'll wear jeans or a shirt with sleeves if the weather calls for it, but mostly it doesn't. I'm wearing shorts as I type this right now. Oh, and I LOVE your top, so pretty.
ReplyDeleteI eyed this top for awhile, it is really cute. I love it on you, especially paired with those shoes!
ReplyDeleteYou don't know how ready I am for fall, I've already purchased a leather jacket and booties from the Nordstrom Anniversary sale and I'm thinking about how great a cozy sweater will feel, but there is no way in heck that I can wear any of it now. And I know not everyone is experiencing the same hot summer weather as I am, but whenever I see bloggers posting pictures wearing leather jackets, pants, dresses and skirts I can't help but think why are you wearing that, you have got to be hot in it. :) Same goes for sweaters. I just can't wrap my head around it, lol.
Oh yeah, I'm totally shopping for fall (looking for new booties now!) but my toes don't want to get stuffed into thick socks and boots just yet.
DeleteNot only will I not be wearing fall clothes this month, I probably won't be wearing them until after Halloween. Here in my neck of the woods, it is often warm enough to eat thanksgiving outdoors. No sweaters and boots for me.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds kind of awesome, the idea of eating Thanksgiving dinner outdoors.
DeleteIt's over 90 degrees here, so I would certainly say no to anything involving boots or fuzzy hats! I don't think my winter gear will see the light of day for months. Your top is so cute!
ReplyDeleteReally lovely outfit! The top is very sophisticated! Love the neon detailing too! :)
ReplyDeletecallmemaddie.blogspot.com
nice look, you look great! and love your blog's name
ReplyDeleteI totally hear you! I'm seeing all this Fall attire, meanwhile I'm still grasping on to Summer. Not to mention it's still 100 degrees here in Dallas. This outfit is so cute...I love those shoes and those earrings!

Fabulous top; it looks wonderful on you.
ReplyDeleteIt's funny, but I was just thinking about this same thing. Sort of. At the beginning of each season, I don't so much want to be first, but feel sort of obligated to wear trending items for that season so that my readers think I'm a good source of information. But the end of a given season, I'm just wearing whatever I feel like (usually vintage dresses and sandals) and hoping my readers have seen enough of whatever that season's trends were. Basically, I'm lazy.
Also, it's too darned hot for boots!
Shoot, I'm lazy too!
DeleteGreat jeans!
ReplyDeleteI'm definitely enjoying my summer clothes as long as I can. And it annoys me to see all the fall fashions in store windows when I'm feeling so hot!
ReplyDeleteI love fall but it is too hot! I am not going to be wearing tights and boots till the end of October. I'm holding onto summer while I can! I love the top. You can totally pair it with a cardigan and boots, etc. when it gets colder!

Shoot, a lot of times I go tightless even in the dead of winter. I guess one good thing about living in the SE, it never gets that cold in winter. That, and I figure my legs are probably the most impervious parts of my body to the cold.
DeleteI love that top! I mean LOVE it! Maybe you could have the best of both seasons by layering a thin turtleneck underneath and adding a jacket or blazer for cooler weather?
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely! I want to get the most wear out of this thing!
DeleteOur nice weather is finally coming our way so this weekend it was all about maxi dresses and skirts with sandals! I will keep it for as long as it wants to stay. :)
ReplyDeleteLovely shirt on you Lisa!
I love this post. I live in the same county as some of those blogger so I know it's 100° outside and they aren't really wearing those outfits. Or if they are the just getting a new fall clothes all sweaty. I think it just looks ridiculous and unseasonal to be wearing boots and jackets right now unless it really is chilly where you live
ReplyDeleteI actually don't pay attention to seasons (Southern Cali doesn't really have seasons) or style blog trends (I'm woefully behind any bandwagon). Since my style blog is more a personal adventure and less a public forum, I feel I have a lot more freedom with what I choose to post. With a meager following of 73, my harshest critic is my kid sister and oftentimes, I feel my blog is more a conversation between her and me than anything else.
ReplyDeleteThe long and short of it? To heck with other style blogs! Just post what makes you feel like a rock star. Today's outfit is a perfect example - brilliant as usual, Lisa!
Haha, my big sis is usually my biggest fashion critic. She got the height, the looks and all the styling talent in the family, seriously!
DeleteYes, thank you for a summer outfit post. Summer wear is just less clothes and harder to style. I am not rushing fall! Love that top ... Waited and it sold out :(
ReplyDeleteIt keeps popping back online - you may be able to snag it yet!
Deletei've spent the last few weeks wearing warmer clothes. it barely got up to the 70's for a while there. i'm not ready for fall at all yet. keep that stuff packed away!
ReplyDeleteLove the top! Beautiful and styled perfectly! I still have so many more summer style posts that I want to get in that I am not rushing fall at all!!

While Fall is my favorite season for the crisp cool air, I'm in no hurry to rush into Fall! Definitely trying to max out my Summer, as like you I still have Summer clothing that haven't made it to rotation this year just yet!
ReplyDeleteBtw, love the top on you! Then again, I'm a sucker for just about anything monochrome. :P
Squeezing more out of summer, although I do love and am ready for fall fashion. It's just not cool enough for leather jackets yet... at least not for me!
ReplyDeleteI am a summer lover. Leave the fall clothes for fall! I'm happy to share my summer clearance finds right now.
ReplyDeleteChic on the Cheap
I bought this top too on super sale after eyeing it for months and praying it would last in my size. I love it and plan to wear it really soon. Thanks so much as always for the cute styling ideas.
ReplyDeleteYay, we can be virtual top twins, haha.
Delete100% agree with you Lisa that I am not ready for fall!! I barely had any summer weather in Southern CA and some of my new summer finds have not been worn yet. I am in love with this top and now need to hunt it down.

The top has little tiny mirrors on it. Really cool, IMO. I don't even want to think about laundering this top though, ha.
DeleteIt will be months before I can think of boots and sweaters, think linen is good for at least weeks and weeks ahead. I love this simple summery pretty and chic outfit on you. And your updo! How do you keep your hair up, mine always fall down after about 5 minutes.
ReplyDeleteI guess you can thank my kind of frizzy hair for the help in keep an updo up. I just twist my hair up, use a claw clip and hair spray the front and sides a bit. Probably not the most chic method, but it works!
DeleteHa ha I HATE autumn and winter (winter especially) so I try to eek out summer for as long as I can. We've had a superb summer weather wise in the (south of the) UK this year, looking back at my blog archives it started in June time and apart from the odd rainy day here and there it's been fab, with some really scorching weeks thrown in.
ReplyDeleteI've skipped over reading or looking at any blog posts regarding autumn wishlists, fall outfits etc etc. I refuse to think about autumn until after my birthday (next week) and even then, until late September! I don't care if that means I keep wearing the same summer clothes over and over again, it's literally what I am wearing to keep cool in every day life!
Once it gets cold, I will miss the ease of just being able to throw on a dress and call it a day!
DeleteI love fall and winter, but it lasts a long time in this part of the world so I've learned to enjoy summer while it lasts. Especially now that the weather is on a warm upswing again. :) But what drives me nuts is not being able to buy something you're looking for at the end of the season that you need for the weather now. Not so much for summer, but I've had many experiences trying to find gloves in February or March and not being to find any because it's all spring stuff in store. Of course, it's probably my fault for losing my gloves so often... :)
ReplyDeleteLove those shoes!
I know what you mean. I remember looking for some shorts in July a few years ago and you'd think I was hunting for unicorns or something - they were so hard to find!
DeleteI have to admit, I'm leaning towards darker colors and fall clothing just because I'm ready for a change, BUT I AM NOT READY FOR FALL WEATHER. I like my warm weather and will be wishing for summer back in no time :)
ReplyDeleteI've been buying up some fall stuff on sale, but I'll wait!
Deleteahh! so pretty outfit! it matches all together! it's rainy season here and I kinda misses summer days a bit.I hope you're doing well =)
ReplyDeleteNo fall gear yet for me! Definitely still in skirts and shorts and summer clothes :) I'm trying to enjoy every last ounce of summer before the bore of winter hits! Just think - once fall/winter really hit, we'll all be complaining about how much we miss summer haha.
ReplyDeleteOh yeah, I'll be the first to start whining, especially during January.
DeleteHa! I've noticed that too. The good thing about being cheap (thrifty?) is that by the time fall sales roll around, the temperatures outside are perfect for new items grabbed at a discount. I don't mind that I'm not the first to wear new fall clothes if it means saving some $. So count me as someone who's squeezing all she can out of summer and its humidity!
ReplyDeleteIt's been so rainy and overcast this summer in the SE, I would appreciate some sunny warmer days!
DeleteWhat a cute top! Love it. I'd love to be in fall clothes already, but it is just too hot for that. That didn't stop me from doing a week of fall outfits as a preview on my blog :)

Oh yeah, I've already done all sorts of cool weather shopping already!
DeleteI completely agree! I'm trying to milk August for all it's worth. I love this top on you! Definitely refreshing and cute!

I think I will have to disagree with you there. See, I live in the Middle East and it's crazy hot here, and has been for months, so I can't wait for it to get cooler. But I think I would feel the same as you if I lived in a place where it was less hot :)
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love that top by the way! Gorgeous!!
I get what you mean - the grass always looks greener on the other side! ;o) I've been to Dubai a few times in the "winter" and it was still hot as heck during the day - I couldn't imagine being around there during summer!
DeleteI'm in the same boat about the dresses!
ReplyDeleteI don't want summer to be over, but it's been feeling like fall here lately! I love your fun top!
ReplyDeletexo,

Pretty top!
ReplyDeleteI'm definitely not ready for the fall stuff yet. I'm still enjoying the summer while I can! :)
ReplyDeleteOMGAAAA that top! I'm obsessed!!!

Haha...I have to admit that I'm more in the mood to buy fall things now but it is still hot outside so I'm trying to not wear my sweaters!

I am so ready for fall!
ReplyDeleteIsn't the bracelet a Stella & Dot item? http://www.stelladot.com/shop/en_us/p/jewelry/bracelets/bracelets-all/renegade-cluster-bracelets
ReplyDeleteHi Tiffan - Yes, I think Stella & Dot came out with the original design but a lot of other shops are now offering the same styles. I got mine for cheaper off an Etsy shop.
DeleteI completely agree! While I absolutely love fall and am looking forward to cozying up...where I live, summers are so short so you definitely have to take advantage of it while it's still here. Those jeans are fabulous on you - love the whole outfit!
ReplyDeleteThat blouse has a fun collar. I love the clutch & earrings. Your Shoes as usual are GORGEOUS.
ReplyDeleteThis shirt was well waiting for. Lovely. I also love your earrings.
ReplyDeleteAnd I totally agree with you, there are still some summer clothes waiting to be worn. We have had rotten weather till the second week of July, so summer has just begun in The Netherlands.
I totally agree! Fall is a whole month away still! I love every season up here in the Pacific NW, and I love it that the equinoxes/solstices finally make SENSE. :D
ReplyDeleteLove that top !
ReplyDeletePOM POM fabulous.
I love the top, so cute.
ReplyDeleteLOVE YOUR TORN JEANS AND EMBROIDERED BOHO TOP!
ReplyDeleteI am still i summer clothes, but my heart is in autumn tweeds, and closed toe Boots..
