I've been meaning to put up some of my Amsterdam trip pics but this "life" thing kept getting in the way of blog time. I seriously could not take enough pics of the cute little homes around the city center area. And though I was working most of my time, I really took advantage of it being daylight until well past 10pm over there this time of year - there was a whole lot of strolling about and eating frites going on. Here's a few pics from my trip:

I adored all the cute random shops around the main shopping area on Leidestraat.
And the cheeeeeese shops abounded with their delicious offerings (and free samples ...)

If you want to get all your standard "I visited Amsterdam" souvenir needs fulfilled,
the Flower Market along Singel would fit the bill.

It was always pretty much fry (or flower) time in Amsterdam. Vlaams Friethuis Vleminckx,
a little hole-in-the-wall, had the best ones in my opinion (with curry sauce, mmm) ...
and enjoyed a spot of wine on my way from Amsterdam to Paris via Thalys train.

Amsterdam is such a great walking city and city center is pretty easy to find your way around in
(though getting lost is half the fun). Just be aware of bikers and trams when crossing the streets!

  1. So pretty! I spent a 6 hour lay over in Amsterdam, walking all over for those short hours. Unfortunately, it was between 5-10am on a Sunday, so everything was closed except for the "smoking" cafes and the only people out were in intoxicated. Regardless, the beauty of the city was undeniable.

    1. I saw quite a few "affected" people walking out of coffee shops at pretty much all hours of the day. At least they all looked pretty happy with themselves, haha.

  2. I love this outfit, I recently bought a similar skirt in red and will need to pair with a stripe tee. I went to Amsterdam many many years ago and it is such a pretty city with so much to see. Thanks for sharing your pics!

  7. I was thinking of heading there later this year. I think you swayed me with the frites. Love the skirt and the hat. I wish I could find a hat to find my massive head and all my hair :)

  9. I loved Amsterdam but was quite disappointed that the Marathon barely took in any of this version of Amsterdam! It's probably not feasible during the race but luckily we did all the touristy walking the day before!
