Abstractly Rosy

abstract rose abstract rose

I know everyone's pretty much got fallen leaves, suede booties and pumpkin spice errthang on the brain right now, so I'm sure my outfit is reading as more April than September, but oh well. I got this dress recently and felt the obligation to wear it despite the season (and it's still like 80 degrees where I am).

This dress was a surprise find at Forever 21, which other than for it's awesomely cheap trendy jewelry I actually have been staying away from for a while now. Let's call it me finally maturing a bit as I'm realizing that though I can physically fit into a piece of clothing does not mean it's meant for me. Forever 21's target demographic is most likely not the office gal. But sometimes they have a few winners that are too wallet-friendly to resist (like this J.Crew-esque tee worn here, or this awesome dress I've had for a few seasons now) and appropriate for someone too old for short-shorts.

  2. Some of my new favorite wardrobe additions have come from the Love21 line recently. It has been a total surprise! I got an amazing midi-esque black skirt and the most perfect olive green drapey tee, some of my favorite additions all year. I feel like it is mostly too young for me, and than there is that hidden gem that is worth looking at them again. Love the bright colors! Great find.

    1. I like their Love 21 line - it's made for a more sophisticated palette and some of their pieces look really wearable for us non-teens!

  3. This was a great find from F21. I normally buy either tops or jewelry from there but rarely dresses because they are usually too short for me. This dress looks great with that pretty jeweled belt.

BTW, I am hosting a weekly link up tomorrow and would love for you to join me.

    1. I know - F21 dresses are usually too short for me too, and I'm a shortie! Every once in a while they come up with a winner for me.

  4. That color combo--YUM. It looks amazing with your skin tone. :)

I have very little from F21, but I do wear the Paris tee I bought from them a lot. It has held up, much to my surprise...

    1. For me, if the temps just stayed right where they are now, I'd be OK with it!

  9. Oh I can relate - I have been trying to stay away from their clothes but do find jewellery ageless when worn properly.
I like this dress and need to know if the pearl rings were a recent purchase, because if they are I'll drop by this weekend.

  13. Great dress. I agree with Suzanne: you have chosen your shoes very well. But then again you always do. Like your choice of cardigan with it.

  14. But you have got the eye! Imadore this dress with that gorgeous belt, it does not looks like something from F21, it looks sophisticated and expensive on you, paired as it is with that belt and sweater .
I love F21, and if it were not such a mob scene near me, I would be shopping there too, selectively ...
They do cut for small people like us. LOVE this Lisa, truly,
