I'd like to think of myself as a fairly uncomplicated person. It doesn't take a whole lot to make me happy. I don't need big fancy gestures, loads of money spent or to be lavished with anything (other than attention and maybe the occasional sweet treat). Sometimes I just really enjoy doing nothing under the guise of barely doing anything.
So on seemingly the first perfect weather weekend this spring, a lazy Sunday was spent at the park in my new favorite (almost) shoes, drinking too much fresh-squeezed lemonade, laying about while I got my hair part sun burned and stumbling upon a art festival that also happened to have some pretty spectacular guilty pleasure eats - funnel cake and cupcakes on the same day? Yes, please.
What are some things that you like to do that barely takes any efforts but still totally makes your day?
The sunshine makes everything just feel so much better and easier doesn't it. I like to just sit and watch Elodie running about at the park or in the garden squealing "bubbles mummy" or the calm that descends on a Saturday mid-morning when she's napping, husband is at golf and I can curl up with a cup of tea and a magazine. All fairly simple, low-cost pleasures but they make my day :-)
ReplyDeleteCurling up to read is an absolute luxury, I love it!
DeleteTaking a walk on a day with beautiful weather and just enjoying the sights and surroundings. I did that yesterday with the beautiful spring weather that we had in DC and got myself some bubble tea and a cupcake! ;)
ReplyDeletehttp://fauxionista.com
Mm, bubble tea, I haven't had any in forever!
Deletehi Lisa! Oh you are talking right down my alley! Visiting family and friends is my favorite thing to do, which we did yesterday. I love to stubble onto Art Shows, too. I'm glad you thought those Tiffany Box blue heels were awesome. I loved them - so had to share.
ReplyDeletei just saw a lady with those shoes on the plane a few days ago. love them! i hope they're as comfy as they look!
ReplyDeleteMy first time wearing them was for a trade show (I know, risky for my feet!), but they are surprisingly comfy and well-cushioned.
DeleteThis outfit is a great mix of girly and tough! Yum on the funnel cake AND cupcakes! I love just talking a walk with my hubby and the dogs on a warm spring day. :)

Love the camo and pink together! And funnel cake? That'll make any weekend!
ReplyDeleteGreat bag! And I love the pink and camo together! I am still waiting for our perfect weather to arrive so I can have a day just like that! I think it might happen this weekend so I'm excited :-)
ReplyDeleteThe artwork is stunning! I am so jealous of your day right now! Funny how you were perusing art and so was I, in preparation of this week's theme (Works of Art Week). Only I bet your experience was infinitely more visceral than sitting in front of a computer and clicking links. :D
ReplyDeleteCamo and pink - who woulda thunk it? Why, supermegafoxyawesomehot fashionista Lisa, of course!
www.myclosetcatalogue.com
At least you didn't have the crowds or the clueless people who would stop walking in the middle of a crowded sidewalk! ;o)
DeleteI'm with ya. It's the simple things that really matter! I love your camo and hot pink Lisa!
ReplyDeleteThat looks like an amazing weekend. Is it ok that it makes me super jealous? we're getting like 8 inches of snow tonight again here... love the pink and camo :)
ReplyDeleteOh no - and it's almost May!
DeleteI like the pink and camo, what a fun combo. As of simple pleasures, coffee and a fancy bagel is such a treat, or simply being able to watch a chick flick, both of those are such a great!

I love sitting outside on a sunny day! It's seriously THE BEST! And sipping lemonade too :) Love the pink with the camo! Great outfit!
ReplyDeleteI love these colors with your camo jacket! Also I love the flower on your jacket. I have to do that!

Your weekend description pretty much says it. Summer is such a relatively short and elusive creature around here, so a day spent lying in the grass, surrounded by sun and the activity of others (plus some kind of sweet and refreshing treat) is the best! I'm not quite there yet, unfortunately. I was misled by Friday's balmy albeit windy 73 degrees, and then almost died the following evening on a night out where it dropped to 23! ouch!!
ReplyDeleteI love pink and camo. so much!
23 degrees, ouch!
DeleteI have been in love with that jacket since i first saw it on Atlantic Pacific blog.. one of the best military jacket ever. The fuchsia bag and flower brooch softened and balanced the look perfectly. I have the same jut TOMS shoes.. they are the best :)

Toms are awesome, I'm wearing shoes but I feel like I'm not!
Deletewe took a walk yesterday and sat outside in the park. we had gelato.. i totally got an awkward sunburn. but it was good, cheap fun and we enjoyed the weather. :)
ReplyDeletelove the accessories in this post!
I got an awkward burn on my hair part. Ah well, just means good weather is here!
DeleteI like the pink and green here - and always marvel at how you can make camo look so sweet.
ReplyDeleteI'm dying over that bag! Such a gorgeous color!!
ReplyDeleteI'm all about the simple things as well. This weekend I was so happy to have macarons in an assortment of flavors, cook a dinner that was simple to make but still yummy and be able to have dinner outside because the weather was so cooperative. Not so much now with this cold front, but I live for the days when I can leave the windows open or be outside with just a jacket.
Macarons are fantastic. My fave are the fruit ones.
DeleteCamo and pink....loving it!
ReplyDeleteNever would have paired camo and pink! Looks adorable on you!

Oh me! Oh my! Your posts has me yearning for warm summer days and time better spent outside enjoying it. Can't wait for festival season this year!
ReplyDeleteHaving sunshine can really make or break your day. We have had horrible weather this year for Spring so just getting outside to enjoy it by walking the dog is lovely.
ReplyDeleteAlso my all time favourite moment of the day is after supper when my hubby and I watch a bit of TV and I lay my head on his lap while he caresses my hair. Nothing feels quite as relaxing or as safe as that.
bisous
Suzanne
Oh! I just noticed I have the same earrings as you! LOL Love them : )

Yay - great minds think alike you know ...
DeleteOoh I love the pink with camo in your outfit today!
ReplyDeleteAnything that is free that I can do outside in the sunshine instantly makes me happy. Or even just being able to open up all the blinds and letting the house air out on a breezy warm day.
I've only got a few weeks where the weather will cooperate enough so that it is actually beneficial to open a window to let in the breeze - soon it'll be way too humid and hot!
DeleteI'm so jealous of your perfect weather sunny weekend. It's been rainy and cold here since last Friday, so I just enjoyed lounging around my apartment and watching movies with family/friends. When the weather is nice and sunny, I'm pretty happy eating barbecue with my family on the patio at my mom's house while my nieces and nephews splash around in the pool. I love festivals too....mostly because of all of the food. The funnel cake and cupcake sounds like the perfect ending to a perfect day.
ReplyDeleteYou must've been at Piedmont - it was my favorite weekend place in Atlantic during good weather. There's nothing I enjoy more than outdoor strolls through festivals/events during warm weather.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely was - great park, though I hate having to pay for parking once I'm there!
DeleteI love how you made camo girly by pairing it with pink!

Loving your camo jacket! I have yet to wear mine. I better do it quickly.
ReplyDeleteI need a warm day that way I can get some fun things in.
I'm with you - I love a good jacket but I've got limited time with actual spring-like weather. Pretty soon it'll just be plain ole HOT until late fall.
DeleteLove, love, love this look! The pink and camo is awesome! Love the edgy yet feminine look! Fab Lisa!

DeleteThat sounds like an awesome day!! I love blue skies and sunshine :) That will cheer me up any day :)

Masculine + feminine style = cool!
ReplyDeleteA walk in the park or mall, or simply a nap totally makes my day. Doing something other than the usual is beneficial for the mind and health.
Have a great day!
Naps are awesome!
DeleteLooks like a wonderful lazy but eventful Sunday....love that.
ReplyDeleteI just really like walking along the street in New York :)
ReplyDeleteI love this bag and these shoes together... the colors just really pop!
I would never think to put pink and camo together but it totally works! My Sundays consist of sitting on the couch and catching up on my DVR. I even refuse to clean. I think there always needs to be a day of rest in the week!

You're right, I totally hate having to spend off days running errands and doing chores.
DeleteLooks like you had a great weekend! I love lazy weekends but they don't happen much anymore since we are busy all weekend with your little boy. Lots of fun and can't wait to start lounging by the pool while my son & hubby play. Love your outfit! Your heels are adorable - it looks like they are blue with pink trim? such a pretty combo!

The pumps are green - in that mostly green but can seem blue kind of way, hehe. Don't know how the pics turned out the way they did but there's no pink trim - though that'd be a fun idea!

ReplyDeletenice outfit! I love the camouflage
ReplyDeleteTaking a scenic drive and singing in the car:)! That's what makes me happy! I love your camo jacket Lisa! Looks so pretty against the pink!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed your weekend photos! Art + food sounds perfect. :)
ReplyDeleteSomething simple I enjoy is couch time with some of my favorite shows - give me an episode of Cupcake Wars, Millionaire Matchmaker, or What Not to Wear and I'm happy!
Oh WNTW - one of my all-time faves!
DeleteLove the camo with the pink - so cute! Looks like an awesome weekend :)

Hey Lisa! HaHa We both love funnel cakes! They're so good. I love the festivals we have here and just taking in all the sights that you see around you. Great outfit and invest in a good hat to protect your head.
ReplyDeleteWow, that sounds like a perfect Sunday! I love your outfit too. The flower brooch is very Carrie Bradshaw!
ReplyDeleteI love going on short day trips to fun places, even if it's just a half hour/hour drive. You look like you had such a relaxing day! And by the way, I love the camo and pink combo!

One thing that makes me really happy is crafternoon with my friends. We spend the afternoon crafting (duh!), and as I was recently given some resin and resin moulds, I think we're going to try to make resin jewellery next - that or make plushies! And baking - my friend has a two-year-old daughter and I have a bunch of cute animal cookie cutters, so this is a date destined to be awesome and fun.
ReplyDeleteYou look so cute, as always, and I really like how you prettied up the army jacket with a flower! It inspired me to put flowers on two of my spring jackets, too! Oh but those (almost) favourite shoes of yours look pretty rad, in a medieval wench sort of way - where did you get them? :)
Ooh, "crafternooning" sounds like fun. Too bad none of my gal pals are very crafty - or maybe they are and I just don't know because I can't craft anything!
Deleteso nice!
ReplyDeleteOk pink and camo is one of my favorite new color combos!
ReplyDeleteLovely post. Yes, such a nice way to spend the Sunday. Sometimes things just work out beautifully.
ReplyDeleteI like your outfit and especially the combination of colours. And I don't even like camouflage things, how about that. Very pretty bag too.
A cupcake makes my day every. single. time. Sounds like you had a lovely Sunday. I wish it was Sunday :)
ReplyDeleteToo me! It was a keylime cupcake too, and it was spectacular. Seriously.
Deletethis is such a cute casual outfit! your bright pink bag is the best. I love doing mostly nothing. it's such a good way to spend a day.
ReplyDeleteChic on the Cheap
I wish I can have more "nothing" days!
DeleteI love this look Lisa!! The pink looks so cute and feminine with the camo jacket!! Great choice on your shoes too!!
ReplyDeleteI love how that flower spruces up the jacket! And oh man, I would sit in the park or anywhere outside really and read all day errday if it were an option.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like heaven too. Get a blanket and some snacks, find a nice shady tree ...
DeleteI just... I can't even articulate how damn cute you are in this outfit... precious! what a perfect outfit for a leisurely day out and about in your city :)
