I'm a big Hunter boots fan, but they don't love me back (too tall for a shortie like me). Plus I'm cheap and
Hunter boots are not. And living in a city, I have about this => <= many opportunities to actually wear rain boots. Because I am so not one of those people who can pull off wearing rain boots "just because."
So I have one pair of rain boots and they actually get worn more often as work boots on the farm - except then I get made fun of for wearing bright red boots instead of the standard big utilitarian black rubber boots. I really just get no love for red boots apparently.
But if red rain boots are good enough for Paddington, then they are good enough for me. And ones that fit me in the calves and aren't too tall for me (plus they're cheap) are even better. So on a dreary wet city day, I dare to go clopping around in red rubber and may have even found myself a few puddles.

ReplyDeleteI'm a shortie too, so the short Hunter rain boots work for me! But they aren't cheap and they also leak. Apparently when they became fashion boots the quality went downhill. Anyway, your boots are awesome and I love the whole outfit.
ReplyDeleteOh no, nothing worse than a pair of rain boots that aren't waterproof!
DeleteI want a pair of Hunter boots too but I just can't justify them right now. One of my friends just got a pair and seriously they are pretty freaking great!
ReplyDeleteI love the color palette of the Hunter boots - but how often do I wear rain boots anyways?
DeleteI love this top with the eyelet trim! So cute! I am the worst at actually remembering to wear my rain boots. My husband constantly gives me a hard time for shelling out the money for Hunter boots and then forgetting about them. Ooops. ;)

I know, I'm the same way myself.
DeleteGreat bag!! This is a cute outfit and something I would wear on a rainy day!

Thanks so much, Pip!
DeleteYour red rainboots are so cute! I have a pair of Hunters but in the kids version which fits much better :)

Ooh lucky - I think my feet are too big to get the kids version. I bet the shaft length fits nicer though!
DeleteI have a pair of yellow Hunter rain boots, but I'm always wishing they were red instead. I just love yours!
ReplyDeleteOoh, I've always wanted yellow ones, haha.
DeleteLove the boots! I have a pair of Hunters I like but don't get to wear them much since I live in the sunniest city in Canada.
ReplyDeleteYou look adorable in your red Paddington boots! Love how you paired them with the bag. Was Paddington Bear the inspiration for the whole outfit? ;)
ReplyDeleteI think inadvertently he was!
DeleteI have about th same opportunity to wear boots as you. These ones are super cute though.
ReplyDeleteGinny
This top is so cute! I love the lace and stripes. And I personally adore your red boots =)
ReplyDeleteWhat??? I love the red boots! I would much rather get a bright color than black--boring! I am glad you found a Hunter alternative. I could never afford them either! I love your top too--so cute with the lace hem!
ReplyDeleteYeah - boys, what do they know? ;o)
DeleteI have always tried to justify the price of a pair of hunters but just can't bring myself to do it. You look great in your red boots though!
ReplyDeleteLove your red boots. I have a pair of the kids version as well -- they fit perfectly, and I'm 5'2". Plus, they are half the price!
ReplyDeleteI'm going to have to check out the kids version of Hunters - I honestly never thought about it. Though do I need another pair of rain boots, hm ...
DeleteLove thing cute look on you! Those red boots are so fun, and that top with the lace bottom...love! Darling outfit!

Oh I just love your red boots! I think I bought black ones like that a few years ago but they were too tight in the calves for me.
ReplyDeleteYou look great!
I love the bright red color! I can't wear rain boots because my calves are too scrawny...haha. Plus it never rains in California!

I usually have the other problem with my calves! ;o)
DeleteI have never owned a pair of rain boots. Growing up in San Diego they weren't necessary & now living in the snow they're not too practical. These are super cute! And a great alternative to those pricey Hunters. (Confession: I'd never heard of Hunter boots until joining the blogosphere a couple years ago. That's what I get for growing up in sunny Southern CA!)
ReplyDeleteOh yeah, San Diego - the weather ideal! ;o)
DeleteI love these red boots on you.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you on buying cheaper versions. I actually bought a pair of tiny polkadot ones from Costco for a whopping $8 that I love.

Score!
DeleteCute boots, Lisa! I had the same bag but ended up selling it since it didn't get much wear. Looks fab on you =)
ReplyDeleteI wish I had gotten the camel leather version!
DeleteBut they are soooo pretty. :) I know what you mean though, they ARE spendy for what is basically a basic rubber boot. I've been scouting ebay for a good deal!
ReplyDeletevery cute outfit & loving the pop of red Lisa :)
ReplyDeleteLove this look! I would love to own a trench coat like that--it's definitely on my wish list.
ReplyDeleteI love the top! It's so girly and cute. Don't worry about those not being Hunter brand. My rainboots are from Walmart.

I got black rubber rainboots from Walmart for like $11. Too bad I don't know where they went!
DeleteOooh! I love the scarf with that top. That top got away from me last year. You look great in it. And I love the red rain boots! I desperately want a pair of Hunter rain boots. Last year, Nordstrom Rack got a shipment of so many colors in. I think they were $75. And I went home to think about it. Duh! The next day they were all gone. Now everytime I am there, I look for them.
ReplyDeleteYour outfit is adorably chic!
Jenni
Ooh, $75 is good for Hunters.
DeleteYou get work on a farm? How cool is that? I have been wanting a pair of Hunter boots but can't justify spending the $$$ for them. You look great in your red rain boots!
ReplyDeleteAlice

Well, my idea of "work on a farm" and real farmers' idea of work on a farm are probably different things. I'm a pro at finding shade ...
DeleteCute red boots! I own a pair of slate grey Hunters and love them. They were definitely a splurge, but living in Oregon I actually get a lot of use out of them on days when I am not working. Rain boots are also great for pumpkin patch and Christmas tree farm outings too!
ReplyDeleteCute red puddle jumpers! I haven't bought rain boots in years, or gardening boots as I used to call them. Haha! I can't believe how on trend they've become in the past few years. :)
ReplyDeleteI know. I've seen people wear them on non-rainy days and can't help but to think that's slightly strange ...
DeleteI like that you chose a red version of the boots. On a rainy day that little pop of color can really brighten the mood. This looks like a very happy rainy day outfit!
ReplyDeleteLove this whole look, and you are getting lots of love for the red boots from me. I am tired of the "official black or olive" boot. I love the nautical and upbeat look for a rainy day.
ReplyDeleteI wish I could wear rain boots, they irritate my skin , I love the look and would wear them with skirts and dresses, too. XX, Elle http://mydailycostume.com/
I've never thought of wearing my rain boots with skirts or dresses - need to look forward to another rainy day!
DeleteThis is such a cute outfit. I do love those red rain boots! I have a pair of Hunters from such a long time ago and I want to buy a new pair just because I love how long they have lasted me. But, these are so appealing!
ReplyDeletexo,
nancy
I love how your boots go perfectly with the bag...you look adorable!
ReplyDeleteYeah, the Hunters are nice and all, but I don't see the need for purchasing expensive rain boots. If I wear rain boots, they're going to get wet and muddy. Love yours! Great color.
ReplyDeleteYep, I've gotten these boots plenty of muddy and wet before - so far so good!
DeleteLove the red boots and red bag!
ReplyDeleteDuuuude! Those boots totally ARE rad! And yeah, definitely much better than the standard black. I like how they're not super bright so they're still pretty mix and matchable, you know? Love love!
ReplyDeleteI love the boots. In fact I am looking for a pair but refuse to pay the Hunter prices.
ReplyDeleteI think you look adorable with the white lace bit at the bottom of your top.
ReplyDeleteVery good rainy look. And I am all for red boots. I love red. So I love red rubber boots too. You would get my praise if you turned up at my doorstep.
I actually spotted very high fasionable rubber boots with a narrow wedge, high heeled. They were so cute. But I realized in time that it is silly to buy them. If you need to wear rubber boots you are probably in a situation of "long walking hours in the rain" or going through leaves and mud in a forrest or on a farm. Not the ideal places for high heeled wedges. Rubber or not.
Greetje
I love these boots too! I own them in brown and they are super chic and comfortable.
