More things I'm currently loving ...
... Caramel dip. With tart little green apples. With pretzel sticks. With cheddar. Scooped out of the container with my finger. May be doing that as I type this post.
... New fall TV shows. I'm excited that some of my old faves are back (The Vampire Diaries, Once Upon a Time) and am digging some new shows as well (Sleepy Hollow, Witches of East End). I guess I dig the sci-fi and fantasy, huh?
... Low heeled suede ankle boots. I adore the Sam Edelmans but their long narrow shape will most likely make my feet look big. And I'll probably look short. So I'm eyeballing these Clarks look-alikes which probably are way comfier. What do you think - black or taupe?
... Falling Slowly from the indie film, Once. I know it's been out for years now, but I am just hearing the song now. It's glorious! And the story behind the film is fantastic - good for the duo to win an Oscar for their music.
... I Am Galla. Dude's like 20 and dresses like a cast member from Gossip Girl. He's a bit too polished and posed, but I can't deny he's got style. Welcome to the first male style blogger on my read list.
One thing I'm not loving? How it is almost mid-October already? I had lofty dreams of going to New England and watching the glorious fall colors but it seems to be passing me by. Before I know, it's just going to be plain ole cold!
What are you loving so far this October?
Sweater: J.Crew tippi (worn here - deal, pricey)
Top: J.Crew blythe (worn here - factory version, sim, sim black & here)
Pants: LE colored ankle denim (same in corduroy, dressier)
Necklace: c/o Choies (worn here - simpler steal)
Bracelets: J.Crew factory chainlink, J.Crew (sim), Sage K and Co (sim, sim)
Shoes: Carlos Santana brooky (sim, pricey)
Bag: Pour La Victoire roma (worn here - same shape, sim, sim) & Madewell pochette (same animal print, sim)
Mmmm, caramel dip with pretzel sticks...I like how you think!
ReplyDeleteForget pumpkins - fall is for caramel, mm, mm.
DeleteI follow Galla, just so that I can drool. Its pathetic.
ReplyDeleteAlthough I'm also drooling over this bag of yours... could it be more beautiful?
Chic on the Cheap
Aw, thanks!
DeleteVery cute and I'm loving ankle boots too. I tred Sleepy Hallow once and like it, but haven't had a chance to see it again.
ReplyDeleteGinny
For some reason I keep forgetting which night it is on. Too many new fall shows!
DeleteI love that your sweater is monogrammed!
ReplyDeleteI hadn't heard of Galla before, but daaamn. Don't tell my hubby I said that :)

The Tiny Heart
I know - dude does suited up and casual really well.
DeleteThis outfit is just perfect. I love those Clark's booties! Especially in the Mushroom color :)
ReplyDeleteLOVE the polka dots poking out...perfect little detail! Happy weekend.
ReplyDeleteC
Carmel apples are my weakness. Food in fall is my weakness. I made these incredible pumpkin cookies with cream cheese frosting..and was totally bummed when my boys ate the last two. My weekend plans revolve around a cider mill and apple cider doughnuts...so yeah, food and fall go hand in hand :)
ReplyDeleteLet us know how the clark booties work out. I love the looks of little booties, but I am afraid the cut will make my calves look even bigger. Would love to see them irl.
I feel the same way - I have been hesitant about getting low-heel booties because I think they may make me look shorter than I am. I need to find these in-store somewhere so I can try them.
DeleteOnly you can make a sweatshirt totally glam! Lisa is my hero! Btw, did you catch my ode to you several days ago? Leaving you the link in case you missed it: http://myclosetcatalogue.com/2013/10/09/ootd-of-day-9-and-fangirling/
ReplyDeleteM @ http://myclosetcatalogue
Aw, thanks, Maricel - I will def check it out!
DeleteI have been all OVER the apples and caramel dip. Mmmmmm. Love the layers today Lisa!
ReplyDeleteMe too - mm, burnt sugar goodness.
DeleteLoving your monogram sweater! So adorable!

Fizz and Frosting
Oh my goodness I love Once and that song is brilliant. I really like the Clarks booties you are looking at. At first I would have said go with the taupe because they'd be more versatile. But you've already got tan booties and black ones are having a moment right now, too!
ReplyDeleteI'm kind of leaning towards the black myself but believe or not, I'm still considering!
DeleteI love that top and bag! I don't have any male bloggers on my read list, but I do read Kelsey Bang and her Husband and her always do his-and-her posts. Does that count?

I'll check them out too, thanks!
DeleteGreat outfit...perfect for fall! I am loving the new cheese pretzels from Starbuck's and watching Breaking Bad on Netflix! Cool male fashion blog, thanks for the link!
ReplyDeleteCheese pretzels?! Uh oh, sounds delish!
DeleteOooh I love your layers and that pretty necklace!! So cute!

Love the ankle boots - I vote taupe. Caramel dip sounds amazing right now......
ReplyDeletecaramel.. and monograms... and boots. yum to all three!
ReplyDeletei was eying those same clarks boots the other day because i too feel the sam edelmanns would make me look odd with pointy feet. we shall see.
I read a comment somewhere that the Clarks didn't make a person's feet look big in basically flat boots, so that gives me hope. I like the SEs but I'm with you, they are long and narrow and will probably make my feet look huge.
DeleteWhat a lovely list to romanticize October! I'm loving my new Keurig coffee "Winter Celebration Pack." Mornings with a cup of golden french toast or gingerbread coffee?! Mmmmmm. I'm also loving breezes and the wind rushing across my skin and ruffling my clothes. It's been months and months since I've felt a breeze. Baked apples? Slow cooker recipes? I could go on and on...
ReplyDeleteConsidering I don't have a huge yard to rake, I am digging all the falling leaves underfoot.
DeleteI definately think the Clarks in the taupe would be more comfy. Black will probably go with more, but the taupe is so pretty.
ReplyDeleteI am loving the changing leaves but not loving raking all of my yard.
That necklace is hilarious.
From your muscular calf sister : )
Suzanne
Go, muscular calves! (They used to call me "mango calves" in elementary school - more power to me, eh?)
DeleteJust checked out I Am Galla and you are so right - he is one stylish dude. He is quite compelling for some reason.
ReplyDeleteWe are having spring like weather here in Los Angeles. One day it is cold and rainy the next it is 90 and sweltering. Today it is 75 and beautiful. So weird.
xo,cynthia
It's pretty much in the 70s now, but chilly in the mornings. I'm not going to complain.
DeleteLove this outfit! Those booties are so cute and such a pretty color.
ReplyDeletei love the polka dots layered under the sweater! and what a cool necklace! I've never heard of Falling Slowly but I loved Once -- will have to check it out!
ReplyDeletecute & little
cute outfit! love the pop of polka dots underneath!! super adorable!! yumm caramel dip that sounds amazing! i'll have to get me some.. i love tart green apples i usually eat them w/ peanut butter lol!
ReplyDeleteHave you tried mixing a bit of peanut butter with maple syrup? Delish with apples!
DeleteAhh, Sleepy Hollow. We are fans of that as well - great acting and great plot! Other things I'm loving...hot chocolate, marshmallows and pumpkin.
ReplyDeleteI just kind of wish Ichabod would get a haircut and new wardrobe already. I know it would ruin his ole "I'm from colonial America" shtick, but wouldn't his 200 year old clothes be all smelly and mildewy? You'd think the cops would've given him some new duds.
DeleteOooh, nice "casual Friday" look! I like the slightly sheer quality of both the shirt and the sweater together -- it really works with the light grey color. :)
ReplyDeletelove ur love!

I love this outfit and the way you laid out all the pieces for the last photo could not be more perfect. It has more charm than a standard Polyvore picture. I'm looking for a polka dot blouse so I should check out J.Crew. I haven't been as excited about their fall clothes this year, but I will keep checking back. I have not seen this particular blouse before. Oh and I have the Witches of East End show on TIVO and still need to watch it.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend, Stacey
Laying out clothes like this is easier for me than working Polyvore, haha.
DeleteI'm kind of with you on JC - I haven't purchased anything from their fall collection so far this year.
DeleteI am Galla's got a great sense of style. How does a 22 year old have so much great clothing? Have a great weekend!

Dude must get freebies from retailers all the time - I don't know anything about male style bloggers, but I think he's one of the top ones.
DeleteLoving sweats over collared tops! The ankle boots is the perfect combo this season :)
ReplyDeleteLove that the holiday's coming very soon! and looking forward to a month of vacay with my love. Can't wait! :D
Really like that polka dot shirt! It's so nice layered with the bright pants :) Getting very warm here (Australia) so much too hot for layering!
ReplyDeleteAway From The Blue
Ah, but you'll have beautiful beach weather soon!
DeleteI'm loving the fact that the weather is warmer and we have more sunlight at the end of our workdays :) We are slowly going into Summer whereas you guys are going into Winter ;)
ReplyDeletekatattack2000.wordpress.com
Yeah, it is kind of depressing waking up to the dark now. When's daylight savings already?
DeleteI always love your tidy little detail photos of the outfit all folded up- so pretty! Thanks for the Galla linky- I like following a few stylish lads, like learning about ties and tailoring from Simon Crompton at Permanent style.
ReplyDeleteThe up side to mid-october here is Canada is that it's thanksgiving, so I'm pie baking like mad so we can leave the city tomorrow and feast on turkey in a cottage by a lake- heaven!!
Happy Canadian Thanksgiving!
DeleteLove the layering and the polka dots.
ReplyDeleteI´m loving your necklace, the booties and the colder temperature which is perfect for layering! ;)
ReplyDeleteLove that J.Crew silk polka dot blouse! Love this layered look too!

Jeans and a Teacup
this weather has made it hard to believe it's already mid-October! loving your neutrals in this post. Mmm....I love caramel ANY time of the year. I love tucking in on rainy days and making Sunday dinner...and I love pulling out my fall and winter clothes (finally!) Loving your booties too, super cute!
ReplyDeleteI know - I'm still wearing sandals and shorts on weekends!
DeleteI need a monogramed sweater.
ReplyDeleteLisa, I love your preppy and chic outfit: how do you mange to combine the two?
ReplyDeleteI love the Good Wife, and homemade cookies, and watching the leaves change color..
and your blog..

I don't know why, but this is not a favourite for me. Perhaps the light blue is not so much your colour? I don't know. Love the booties and the bag though.
ReplyDeleteGreetje
I like the outfit on you. The skirt/midi at the current length when pair with heels like you did looks great and not really matron like at all. It looks modern with a 60 twist. Now as for shortening if you like do about 1-1.5 inch to let you show more shin/calf skin but not all the way to below knees because that would turn it into an entirely different piece and will not give the same ladylike of the long skirt. I actually like the way you are wearing it currently. But that's just my humble opinion.
