I can’t believe we’re more than halfway through April
already, time just seems to be flying by. I feel like this year I am
ill-prepared for the arrival of warmer weather – most of my tees and lighter
clothes are wrinkled masses on the bottoms of my drawers, I am still afraid to
show my toes because I haven’t had a pedi in forever, and I’ve just started to
break out the self-tanner so I can get some color on my legs. Can’t you tell
how bronze and sleek my legs look already, ha.
I kind of miss the days of being a kid when April meant
spring break from school and being taken out to get fresh clothes for the
warmer weather. Back then I would have much rather been outside running the
block with my friends on sunny days than play dress-up, but it felt special to be
able to get new things just for me to wear and to get all this attention
lavished on me by my mom and big sis.
What do you typically do to prep yourself for warmer
weather? What do you enjoy about spring?
Top: J.Crew factory tissue (same long-sleeve, sim, sim, steal)
Skirt: J.Crew lighthouse linen (sim, pricey, as dress & another)
Belt: J.Crew (sim, sim, steal)
Bag: J.Crew factory dorset (strapped, pricey, luxe)
Necklace: Anthropologie tinsley strung (worn here - lighter, pricey, seed)
Bracelets: Asos spike & stone set, Target, Yunikelley via Etsy
Shoes: Jessica Simpson jaide (worn here - sim, bowless, slingback)
Ha ha prep myself for warmer weather?! That's funny. The night before we went to Dubai I painted my toenails and shaved my legs. Sadly I don't have time anymore to begin the prepping-body-for-warmer-weather process in February, scrubbing and buffing, tanning and moisturising. I read about it in magazines in between bathing the baby and making the dinner thinking "I really ought to do that". Lol! :-)
ReplyDeletePaint your toes, that's way more than I've done!
DeleteThis is such a cute outfit! Love the unique print of your skirt :)

That skirt is so cute Lisa!
ReplyDeletehmm... we get our best weather in sept/october so we still have a ways to go. i do put away the majority of my heavy coats though! and often purchase new t shirts/basics that have worn out.
ReplyDeletethis outfit is adorable on you lisa!
Lisa I'm loving this outfit! Simple but beautiful. Maybe it's the bright blue that's drawing me in and reminding me that yes, Spring is finally here!!
ReplyDeleteThe fabric pattern on that skirt looks adorable.
ReplyDeleteSpring preparations are normally dropping a minimum of 5 lbs, using copious amounts of self tanner, getting a pedi/foot makeover and actually wearing some of my great summer dresses outside of the house in the real world. That is all a mute point though if Spring and Summer decide not to show up this year. Since we are expecting SNOW again this weekend I'm not in a rush to get any of this started yet. Instead I will pile on my sweats and sweaters and add a few extra carbs to my diet. I think this is called "lack of Spring" induced depression.

Ah yes, losing a few pounds for warmer weather. That's been on my to-do list for oh, several months now ...
DeleteLove the color of the tee! I'm obsessed with their tissue tees right now. Got a few 'Vintage' tees from ON that are very similar too. Also, I love that you paired this with leopard heels. So much more fun than a solid!
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of Spring....I'm just praying it'll actually get here. We're still in the 20s in the a.m.!
In the 20s! Whoa, I won't complain about the 40-something weather last week then.

ReplyDeleteI am passing by the CUUUUUTEST sweaters in Gap, J.Crew, ON, etc., because spring here only means the temps aren't in the 90's yet :/ Still too hot and humid. And THAT is my first indicator that I am fully spring-ified.
ReplyDeleteI love that skirt--so cute!!!

Ok, first of all, that skirt is adoooorable! Love love the print. Second, this shade of blue looks so good on you! Third, well where I live its pretty much hot all year long, but now we are entering the rainy season! I like the rain, so I am happy to have cooler weather (aka= a little less hot, but still hot... haha).

That skirt is gorgeous as is the whole outfit. I don't know that I really prep for warmer weather since I live in South Alabama where we have barely had a winter for the past two years. Do you take styling requests? I have an Anthropologie skirt that I would love to get your opinion on how to style.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely, I'd be thrilled to help and offer some advice, Rachel. I'm no expert for sure, but I adore playing dress-up, my clothes or someone else's!
Deletei love this skirt so much! it looks great with the cobalt shirt and the that belt. so chic and fun! :)

I'm trying to work on my tan too. My legs are so pale. All of me is pale, but my legs are the worst.
ReplyDeleteManaged to burn the tops of my feet again. My legs are still ridic pale!
DeleteWhat warmer weather? LOL! In Toronto we are getting teased - warm weather accompanied only by rain :(
ReplyDeleteI love the mixing of the colours and patterns here Lisa!
I'm pasty white - definitely need some of that self tanner too!
ReplyDeleteYour skirt is completely adorable - and sorry if I'm late to the party, but I love your hair!!
Aw, thanks! I am in a constant battle with my hair, so if I have a rare good day, I will milk that, haha.
DeleteThis is such a cute outfit, lisa!
ReplyDeleteHi Lisa :o),
ReplyDeleteI wish you a nice spring :)!I don't really enjoy spring or summer.I'm more of an autumn and winter lady :)... But,liking it or not,the warm weather brings with it the light clothes and so some more attention to taking care of our body is a must.I like to take long walks during this period. It does wonders for a glowing skin.
Anyway, today I came to your blog, because I wanted to tell you that in the past two weeks I've been going quite a bit through the shops in the search of some new shoes.I had in my mind the ones your wearing with this outfit.Again,an anusual combination, but so super cool! And all through my escapades to the shops I had in my mind: If Lisa can,I can :))... You see, you're an inspiration to me.
I still haven't found such shoes,but I will.I must ;)!
Have a great weekend...
XO
Good luck hunting down your shoes!
DeleteI love this look Lisa! The blue is so piercing and perfectly styled with the skirt and leopard heels! Fab!

Cute skirt! I don't really prep for warmer weather other than switching out the sweaters for my regular shirts and tees. I'm not one to care too much about my nails so no mani/pedi for me. ;)

What a cute skirt! I usually paint my toes. And go to the beach. The last one is always on my wish-list, though:)
ReplyDeleteI need some beach time this year too! More just water time, I don't really any beach time since I pretty much just crisp!
Deletei definitely need to grab a pedicure! i usually am pale all through the summer, but am sporting a Maui tan right now. not sure how i like it. i havent had any color in years...
ReplyDeleteDont worry Lisa....you look soooo ready for warmth in this lovely look!!!

Again lovely outfit. I like how the necklace is set on the top and how it brings back the colour of the shoes.
ReplyDeleteHow do I prepare myself for spring? Buying lots of new and colourful stuff..
this is one of my favorite looks of yours!! love the skirt belted!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful outfit! The propotions are so perfect on you - I LOVE that skirt!
ReplyDeleteLonger days and bright cheerful colors are what I look forward to in spring. You are looking the vision of springtime in this outfit.
ReplyDeleteMy legs are always pasty, which is probably why I hardly ever wear a skirt except when cool enough for tights. ;)
Loving your skirt, Lisa! It's so unique and whimsical. Mother Nature can't seem to make up her mind. The weather was in the high 80s last week and it was in the 30s when I walked out this morning. Brrr! Hope you enjoy your week.
ReplyDeleteIt's been a bit of the same here. Both my air conditioning and heat have been on last week!
DeleteI need that skirttttt. Anyway, the ModCloth one doesn't do it justice. What a treasure you have!
ReplyDeleteCute skirt! What's the pattern on it, though? I can't tell but it looks adorable!
ReplyDeleteHugs & Kisses,
