Red Lips
I love the look of bright red lipstick. For a gal who can't really do makeup, lipstick is about the only thing I can manage and red lips can instantly dress up an outfit (and a face). However I wear red lipstick with caution because I have a tendency to get it schmeared everywhere - on my teeth, my cheek, my hands, my collar, on mugs and cups. So any tips to keeping lipstick where it belong, please let me know!

I'm addicted to pairing stripes with this fun floral print, I can't help myself!
DeleteThe red lipstick looks amazing on you, and I'm loving your striped skirt!
ReplyDeleteRed looks gorgeous on you Lisa!
ReplyDeleteI have a great tip! Brush on a bit of pressed powder to your lips before you put on the lipstick. It works like a charm. You can also dust on a bit more (just a bit sometimes I'll just a kleenex and then dap on top of the kleenex) on top of the finished lipstick. It sets it like it sets foundation.

Thanks for the tips, I'll try it!
DeleteCan't go wrong with red lips! Love the skirt and the way it plays with the pretty floral top!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Suzanne's tips. I also swear by Urban Decay's Revolution lippies. I've got 6 of the colors and that stuff goes nowhere!
ReplyDeleteCool deal, I've never tried Urban Decay before, thanks.
DeleteThat is a great outfit! Can I ask what lipstick that is? And to keep your lipstick from traveling, the tip above works, also lip liner, and also blotting, then reapplying. My personal problem with bright lips is that I rub my lips together out of habit and so the lipstick just disappears after a while.
ReplyDeleteIt's L'Oreal Colour Riche in British Red, thanks! I rub my lips together too, that's probably another reason my lipstick keeps schmearing away!
DeleteI echo above suggestions of translucent powder (blotted over) and lipliner. Oh, and stick your index in your mouth and remove it through closed lips (that sort of came out wrong!) to remove the inside lipstick to ensure it is not on your teeth! You look lovely!
ReplyDeleteSounds funny, but thanks for the tip, I'll try it!
DeleteI love this! I love the floral top especially. You are all kinds of preppy and fantastic today.

There's yet another smart, cool and perfect pattern mix outfit. Cheers.
ReplyDeleteI've been looking for a good orange red, but I hate to commit to buying lipstick unless I can try it. The problem is even though you can try them at department stores and Sephora, i still find it a bit unsanitary. ha ha. You chose a great color and i am kicking myself that I didn't get that skirt. But that's what eBay is for, right?
ReplyDeleteYeah I hate trying on lipstick at department stores, I only ever rub some on my hand and honestly I can't really tell how the color will look on me that way. I wish J.Crew would come back with that punchy orange red they had a few seasons ago!
DeleteThis outfit is so cute, and so you! Love it + deadly jealous that you have some of those Liberty print J.Crew items! Florals and neutrals, eh? ;)
ReplyDeleteHave you tried Sephora's own-brand lipstick? That one never smears and stays put like glue - only downside is, it can dry your lips out a bit, but put some Burt's Bees lip balm on top and you'll be golden. And it still won't smear! The one I use is in the Sephora Rouge range (It Girl, reddest lipstick you ever saw). Avoid the Rouge Shine ones, because they are less dry, and they will smear.
I never thought about it before, but I tend to get moisturizing lipsticks so my lips don't dry out, that's likely part of the reason why I can't keep the color on my lips!
DeleteSuper cute purse and skirt!

I completely agree with Anthro Blogger about pursing your lips and pulling your finger in and out of your mouth quickly. I use my pinkie finger. Sounds odd but it really works for not getting lipstick on your teeth.

It totally sounds odd, I'm giggling as I think about it, but I'll try it!
DeleteI love this look! The pattern mixing looks stellar!
ReplyDeletewhat an adorable look
ReplyDeleteusually see this look flipped, but this looks great

I love the look of red lipstick on others but I feel like a clown whenever I try to wear it. I am like you and get it smeared everywhere as well. Looking gorgeous as always Lisa!

I don't wear the bold color as often as I'd like because I get it pretty much everywhere except my lips, hehe.
Deleteso fresh! That skirt and that shirt are made for each other- or rather, Lisa makes everything made for each other! you do it so well.
ReplyDeleteHaha, aw thanks!
DeleteI have said it before and I will say it again, you have the best lips. Red lipstick was made for you.
ReplyDeleteJenni
Aw, thanks, girl!
DeleteI was just talking about this with my mumsie and we did a google search. Apparently beauty pageant contestants swear by a light coat of vaseline on the teeth. Yeah.. we said the same thing :)
ReplyDeleteEewwww ... haha.
DeleteOh I love the stripes with this pattern, Lisa!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely outfit! Especially like the shoes. And I am nearly aleays wearing red lipstick. Otherwise you don't see my lips. Very difficult to keep it away from my clothes, but most days I manage. No tips.. sorry.
