Other than leather shoes or handbags, my experience with wearing leather (real or faux) is fairly limited (I think this is the only two other times - here and here - that I've done so recently, and one wasn't even really worn out). Leather just seems to have an edge and attitude that I can't seem to carry off. I'm so not a slightly menacing bad ass or a chic cool girl.
Like this dress and these pants which I adore? Price and occasion aside, never could I put either on and confidently walk out of the house, even though I don't think either piece would draw particular attention. So this jacket I'm wearing in this post that I got on super-sale? Just enough leather-ishness to make me feel kind of bad, while still sticking close to my real-life studious girl persona.
Jacket: Ann Taylor dressed up denim (additional 40% off sale right now - sim, hooded, luxe)
Sweater: Old Navy marled (sim, chiffon hemmed, tunic, long cardi)
Skirt: Banana Republic ivory box pleat (on sale, worn here - sim midi, mini)
Necklace: J.Crew crystal cluster (worn here - sim simpler, collar, black)
Bracelets: F21 (sim, sim), Target (sim pearl)
Rings: F21 pearl set, geo set
Shoes: Sole Society ena (worn here - same in suede & herringbone, kitten-heel, luxe)
Bag: Coach peyton cora (worn here - sim, w/bow, steal w/tassel)
Oooh, I love that jacket on you Lisa! I know exactly what you mean, leather can be kind of intimidating if you're not Faith from Buffy. But the jacket really suits you. You can be a bad-ass good girl! :) Have you seen that black felted Madewell skirt with the leather side-panels? Now there's a leather-ish piece I'd actually be tempted to try out... maybe just as well they don't ship to my country because that baby's expensive, haha.
ReplyDeleteI think that skirt is on Shopbop? If so, they ship internationally, hehe. #totalenabler

Thanks much - I'm surprised I've still kept it stain-free!
DeleteLove the jacket!
ReplyDeleteYour outfit is beautiful. The sleeves on your jacket are fabulous. Your red bag is eye catching!
ReplyDeleteLove that jacket! Denim and leather look so good together.
ReplyDeleteYou're so right, thanks!
DeleteGreat jacket! I'm actually contemplating trying the leather trend myself--there was a leather sleeved trench at Ann Taylor on major sale that I am very tempted to buy. I love that skirt too!
ReplyDeleteI know what you're talking about, you so should try it - AT has been killing it with the super % off sales recently!
DeleteI like a longer sweater on a full skirt. Nice silhouette. And I adore your bag. I had a look at the Coach site again (I own a yellow bag of them). They don't sell yours anymore and frankly I was a bit disappointed at their new arrivals. There is very little that I like and I am such a fan of this brand. Shame.

I know what you mean - some seasons I want everything and sometimes nothing seems to catch my eye. Better for our wallets, right? ;o)
DeleteI have the same jacket! Unfortunately, to get it so the jacket would button over my chest, I had to size up and the sleeves are SO loose and long! I'm gonna try to get them taken in.

Oh no! I ended up getting the petite size for the length, but unfortunately I've never had a bust issue, hehe.
DeleteHow fabulous is this jacket you are wearing!!??
