Neon Yellow and a Must Have Box

neon yellow

Subscription boxes have been around for a few years now but due mostly to mass indecisiveness, I've yet to partake. There are food-related ones, beauty, fashion, etc. and I didn't know which to try. So when POPSUGAR approached me about their Must Have boxes, I was seriously intrigued.

What makes the POPSUGAR Must Have boxes immediately stand out to me above the other box services out there is that their monthly boxes cover a little bit of all my fave things - food, fashion, beauty and a little stylish miscellany. Plus I get access to full-size products versus little samples.

Boxes are $39.95 per month (including shipping - discounts apply if you sign up for multi-months, though read their terms so you're aware of their cancellation policy) for the program.

I received the June Must Have box which had a decidely beachy laidback theme and got the following items:

must have box

Emily Griffin The One and Only
I haven't bought a honest to goodness physical book since I got my Kindle. But I totally miss the feel of cracking open a good read and flipping the pages. I've been a fan of Emily Giffin since Something Borrowed, so I'm looking forward to some light-hearted summer reading.

Sachajuan Shiny Citrus Body Lotion
Smells citrus-y and goes on my skin without feeling greasy. Plus the lotion contains Swedish oats which will help to calm irritation if you're been out in the sun and surf for too long. This lotion smells fantastic!

Turkish-T Beach Towel
It's beach towel size but balls up into nothing and is light enough to wear as a wrap or scarf. The pretty aqua and white is such a great color combo, I may have no beach to be going to in the near future but I already have plans to wear this as a fun warm weather scarf.

You Smell Lemon Wet Wipes
Not over-perfumed or chemical-smelling like some other wipes, these come individually packed for easier transport. Plus each wipe is actually big enough to be useful, thank you!

Lillies Basics Hair Ties
With the gold-tone metal accent and braiding, these ties can be worn as bracelets when not in use, and they're made out of swimsuit fabric, which means the ties don't stretch out with use. I'm wearing one as I type and literally it's not pulling my hair nor loosening up, so my pony's all snug.

One Potato Two Potato Hawaiian BBQ kettle chips
They're cooked in small batches in sunflower oil and taste delish! This item obviously was the first item opened and consumed in the box. Yum.

Native Union $15 Gift Card
These guys make really cool gadget accessories, like leather USB connectors and phone cases. I envision a new iPhone cover in my future!

Granted almost $40 a month is a bit pricey for a subscription box service but the total cost of these items individually more than makes up for the price of a box. I think it'd be a fun gift to give a friend as a little treat for yourself. And for those afraid of making a commitment, POPSUGAR's also go limited edition seasonal boxes available too.

As a treat, POPSUGAR is offering a $10 discount off a 3-month subscription to their Must Have box. Use code JUNESELECT10 when placing your order - code expires on June 30!

POPSUGAR provided me with a complimentary POPSUGAR Must Have box. The opinions I have shared about the box are my own and POPSUGAR did not tell me what to say or how to say it.

  1. Love the neon you're sporting today! I normally think {for me} neon in small doses, but you're making this look really attractive. I might just break out of my comfort zone :)

  4. I have never done a monthly box subscription, but this one is the best one I have ever seen. I love the wipes and the beach towel/scarf! I am still not sure if I would want to pay that much monthly though...thus the reason I have never done anything.

Love the bright yellow on you! Such a fun summer look.

    1. I know what you mean - that's why I think it's cool they also offer one-off boxes if a person wants a treat every once in a while but doesn't want to full-in commit.

  8. Hi again! I looooooove this outfit!! I've said it before, but you're just SO GOOD at pairing things that at first may seem like they don't go together, but they totally do! The pink/purple shoes with the yellow looks AWESOME and is something I never would have thought of doing. And I'm definitely going to be on the lookout for shoes like that!

Hope you're doing well lady! I feel like I've been mostly MIA from blogging since Baby B came along but I still check out all of your outfits/posts even if I don't always comment :-)

  9. So...
    a) A subscription box with BOOKS?! I'm intrigued!
    b) I was toying with buying a similar gingham shirt - only from Tarjay because of funding situations - and now you've once again convinced me to just go for it.
    c) NEON is my favorite summer thing! You look fantabulous!
    d) I like how your phone case matches your shoes. Always thinking of everything, eh, Lisa? ;p

    1. I have way too many gingham shirts but two of my faves come from Old Navy and Target. Gingham works at all price points.

  10. You looks so good in bright colors! I get birchbox (it has been really disappointing lately) and ipsy, as well as an Adore Me monthly subscription, Julep and Cult nail polish subscriptions (Cult sucks and I'm canceling it too) and occasionally I get Vox Boxs. I like that yours came with a book. I also read something borrowed and would like to read more by Emily Griffin.

    1. I am intrigued now and may sign myself up for a little trial run on one of these sub boxes. The Popsugar box is a bit pricey, but I dig that I get a little bit of everything.

  11. I've never done these boxes, I'm always afraid I will get more duds than actual things I like, and for $40 I can most certainly buy something I'd love. That said, I think you got some great items in your box, and while I like them, I probably wouldn't choose to buy them on my own.

Also, I love your yellow skirt. So much.

    1. I get what you mean - I think it could be a fun treat once in a while though. I'm not sure I would commit for a full year, but doing a couple of months or getting a one-off box seems like fun.

  13. It'd kinda be like Christmas when you get a box, right? It's a cool idea and definitely worth it if you like everything in the box...but if you don't, it might be a bit of a money waster.

Also, how do you manage to be an Asian girl pulling off yellow? I thought that didn't happen! :)

  23. I have not signed up with any subscription boxes either because I just can't see myself using all these samples. I do have a weekly CSA grocery box full of fruits and veggies that I love and have exposed me to new varieties. Love this bright yellow outfit!

  24. I love this neon look on you, Lisa! It's so badass, in an undercover superhero kinda way. And the purple shoes set off all that yellow so nicely, too.

You know, I don't think I could ever buy a kindle, I love physical books too much... we'll probably be moving house soon, and that's when I'll briefly come to regret that, because the amount of boxes, oh my gawd, haha!

  25. This phenomenon of the boxes has not reached The Netherlands yet.
But I had to laugh when I saw your outfit. Today I am wearing a yellow/lime dress with a wide skirt, a matching cardigan in yellow/lime with a bit of sand colour and fuchsia high heels. If people could see us together, they would laugh.
As you can imagine, I like your outfit. LOL

  26. This box thing began last year where i live. Of course I signed up for it - its like giving myself little gifts.
The problem is I cannot keep up with using all the stuff I am getting, so i have begun to give some away.
You look amazing in this bright yellow skirt. I am feeling kind of sad and regretful about letting my yellow vintage skirt go.

  27. Is agree , Lisa, this would be a get gift! And a nice indulgence for oneself! I love that author, and these products look like good quality . Love your lemon ensemble , especially with the lavender shoes... Gorgeous !,
