So I made the mistake of downloading the game Bejeweled onto my phone over the weekend at the recommendation of a friend and let's just say after that happened, nothing productive has been done. Bejeweled is pretty much the most pointlessly addictive time suck ever.
For those of you lucky enough to be unfamiliar, Bejeweled is a series of tile matching games where the tiles are shaped like gems and the more like tiles you stack and explode at a time, the higher your score. Now that doesn't probably sound so tempting but once you're in, you're in. Ooh, the colors, the explosions, the high scoring - remember to blink!
Hopefully this slight game addiction will soon pass, but in the interim, I might be playing as I cook, on the treadmill, at the dog park, and might even have woken up in the middle of the night and instead of rolling over, picked up my phone to stack some gems. In fact, as I have a few free minutes now ...
Dress: ModCloth tell your tale (sim darker, more colorful, tunic)
Necklace: Banana Republic tutti frutti (worn here - sim, simpler for a steal)
Bracelet: INPINK pink glitter barnacle (worn here - sim, sim)
Shoes: Zara block heel (worn here - sim deal, taller)
Bag: Longchamp (worn here - sim, sim)
I am hooked on Two Dots. I never liked games much, but this is addicting!
ReplyDeleteOoh, I've not heard of Two Dots and I better not start now! ;o)
DeleteI haven't tried any games like this out of fear of "the time suck" Hopefully you can win and move on soon :) I love this dress on you today!
ReplyDeleteI figure if I play a lot now, maybe I'll play it out of my system and get over it sooner. Right. ;o)
DeleteI have had to ban myself from ANY games in the itunes store! I know I will just get addicted!
ReplyDeleteSomeone's gonna need to take my phone and delete the Bejeweled app soon.
DeleteLove that dress, such a great print! :) I remember getting quite addicted to the bejeweled game on facebook when I was studying at uni, haha. Much more fun than prepping for exams! :P
ReplyDeleteAway From The Blue
Bejeweled Blitz only lasts for a minute - that's not much time at all, is it? Let's not discuss how many times in a row I'll play though ...
DeleteOh yeah I'm going to stay away from adding that one on to my phone. I remember I used to play it online all the time, so I know how addictive it can be! Love this dress, by the way, it looks super comfortable and adorable!
ReplyDeleteIt is super-duper soft and comfy!
DeleteThat is a beautiful color on you, Lisa. I love the dress's print, too!
ReplyDeleteI am not addicted to any app or game, but boy my kids are. LOL. Minecraft anyone? Oh, wait, how many fashion/style bloggers and readers are ten year old boys? Yeah. ;-)
I've tried Minecraft but I sucked sufficiently enough at it that it never caught on for me.
DeleteYears ago my university gave my class palm pilots. I played many games of Bejeweled on mine...
ReplyDeletePretty dress. I love the print!
Nice! ;o)
DeleteHaha, I am hooked on it, too. But guess what: Communting by public transport gives you the perfect excuse to indulge in the game without feeling gulity!
ReplyDeleteHaving to stand by the stove constantly stirring something is a great excuse to have a wooden spoon in one hand and my phone with Bejeweled in the other.
Deletelove the pretty print of that dress and the blue color!!

Yep, still sucking all my time!
DeleteYou are too cute! My time suck this weekend was reading Paper Towns. I loved it!
ReplyDeleteI love the coral-y necklace against the bright, pretty blue of your dress. Such a summery combo.

I also started reading the last Mortal Instruments book this week so my packing progress has dwindled to almost nothing. I may look like an adult, but apparently I have the mind of a 12yo!
DeleteI have a love-hate relationship with timesucker games! If you haven't, don't download Candy Crush!
ReplyDeleteLiz @ www.shoppingmycloset.com
Candy Crush is a real game? Forgive my ignorance, I just thought it was some made-up racing thing that they showed in the movie "Wreck-it-Ralph".
DeleteI was hooked on Candy Crush and then I just stopped. It was too much!
ReplyDeleteI like your dress but specially your colourful accessories :)
Hm, urge to look up Candy Crush increasing ...
DeleteHaha..I actually feel lucky that I haven't been sucked into too many games like that myself. I waste enough damn time on Instagram & facebook that there's no time left for games! (Trying to fix that....)
ReplyDeleteI will say whenever I see the word "periwinkle" I ALWAYS think of the movie Snatch when Brad Pitt is talking about the caravan he wants for his mom and he says "..she's partial to periwinkle blue, boys" in that gypsy accent. Oh Brad.... ;-)
At least I'm not glued to Pinterest anymore. Bejeweled is much more productive ... haha.
DeleteOh man, I love bejeweled. If only we had tetris...
ReplyDeleteI like the coral paired with the blue - just lovely!
Tetris was the bomb-diggity!
DeleteGirl, you should try 2048! At least you can pretend you're doing math while really it's just grown-up Bejeweled. No fancy explosions, though. ;p
ReplyDeleteSuperfun outfit - the colors are so vibrant and refreshing together!
My dad loves Sodoku - he says he'd really doing match but I figure it's just another time suck game.
DeleteGorgeous dress! So universally flattering too. I love the blue paired with coral, so Summery!
ReplyDeleteSometimes it seems that my kids always find the latest time suck games on the iphone, ipad, kindle, whatever: Flappy Bird, 2048, Piano Tiles (the newest time suck), etc., etc., etc.
ReplyDeleteI got over Angry Birds after the second and third iterations came out - they got too complicated for me so I got bored. Matching colors in Bejeweled - much more my speed, haha.
DeleteThis dress is such a fun print, love the color on you!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute dress! Both the color and pattern are so pretty. I also love the contrast of your jewelry!
ReplyDeleteOh gosh, I have been like that recently about 2048. Mindless, but SO addicting! Also, I love the dress!
ReplyDeleteUrge to also look up 2048 now ...
DeleteI am so glad I don't play those games. I'd become obsessed.
ReplyDeleteLove the colour mix of the blue and orange.
bisous

Beautiful dress and I love how you styled it with that statement necklace. The orange really stands out against the blue. And hahah I was obsessed with that game a few weeks ago! It is sure addicting-the sounds the explosions sure makes a person feel good:P Don't worry-I bet you'll get over it in a bit:)
ReplyDeleteAlso, on my blog is Prom Week. If you are interested, feel free to send me pictures from your own prom or if you didn't have one, a beautiful gown you may have worn in the past. (The directions are on my bottom of my latest post.) If you do decide to send me some, then I will feature your look on my post on Friday. I would love to see you on my blog so please do consider! Thank you and I hope you have a great day.

The voice over on the Bejeweled game is so complimentary - he tells me that I'm awesome all the time, haha. And the music on the butterflies version - so soothing!
DeleteThat game is so dangerous. I spent a summer playing Bejeweled. Yup. The entire summer. I had to ban myself from it. Much better to wear Bejeweled inspired clothes! You look Bejewelistastic in your orange and blue!
ReplyDeletexo,cynthia
I think I must have freed several thousand butterflies by now in the Bejeweled butterflies version. Gotta keep them away from that nasty spider!
DeleteLovely! The coral with the light blue is just right for this time of year :)
ReplyDeleteJen @ Librarian for Life & Style
i love the pop of coral with this dress. you look fantastic! xo
ReplyDeleteI started my 'gaming career' on Bejewelled Blitz and got sucked in deep to saving up gold coins and looking for matches..... then I moved to Candy Crush for a little more puzzle factor, but when I found that when your lives expire they stand you down for half an hour, I downloaded Disco Bees. It's the same principal but a little more fun with funky music and corny bee puns.
ReplyDeleteI keep hearing how fun some of these games are, but haven't caved to downloading them yet! I have so little free time right now, I am scared of everything that wouldn't get done! ;) I really like this dress and it's so pretty with coral accessories!
