And it was All Yellow

yellow yellow

I actually wore this outfit earlier this month on a warm weekend to a girls' brunch (sometimes there's no better excuse than "why not" to make a meal an occasion), but I thought it appropriate to post this outfit today as a "golden" send-off for the Winter Olympics.

As I've mentioned in an earlier post, I love the Olympics - I love watching the different sports and rooting for all the athletes. It's a total sports spectacle ('cause where else would curling and doubles luge get this much air time?) and that's part of the fun of it. Plus, I kind of feel like the Winter Olympics are a bit more egalitarian than their Summer counterpart since the medal count is more spread out.

So after two weeks of automatically having the television tuned to #sochi from 7-11pm, it's going to feel a little weird going back to "regular programming." The Shahs and Downton are done and the NY Housewives (my faves!) aren't starting up for another few weeks - what am going to watch now?

  1. The print of that dress is so pretty! I too enjoyed watching the Olympics...kind of sad that they are over!

  2. Blasphemy, I know, but I hadn't watched a single Olympic event this time around. I guess this is what happens when one has satellite, eh? With so many choices in programming and TiVo, not to mention my hubs monopolizing the remote and watching nothing but the Golf Channel, we were actually an Olympic-free zone over here.

Damn, girl, good thing we're not the same size! All your items are to. Die. For. I would've bought them all up had I the body. ;p Now the shoes are intriguing - interested in the spectator pumps I am. (Yes, I just turned into Yoda right then).

    1. My parent's have "fancy TV" tee with loads of channels and I usually end up missing watch I originally intended to watch because there are so many darn channels!

  3. I watched ice dancing. Why? Because I was in town and my father in law was fascinated by how it was considered a sport. Yep. Myself and a 65 year old man watched ice dancing and that was literally the extend of my Olympic watching. School is just too much right now so I never really got into it.

  7. Great print on the dress and I love the cut of the jacket on you. I didn't really watch much of the winter olympics, I used to love watching figure and speed skating but time just slipped by.

  11. It was on during the day here, started around 5am and finished around 7pm with highlights of the day the rest of the evening so maybe a bit more accessible for us (I'm in bed by 10pm!). I watched all of the figure skating/ice dancing. I love it. We also recorded things like boarder cross, ski cross, slalom, skeleton (yay Lizzie Yarnold) that were on when we were at work to flick through later. I've never been skiing so I do quite like to marvel at them throwing themselves over the jumps....

    1. Yeah, it's fun to watch some of the sports and wonder, "why in the world would you do that?!" in an amazed way!

  13. I'm gonna be honest and say that I"m a little jealous of you right now. I thought that green outfit was my favorite, but now you've come up with an adorable little vintage suit! How cute is this outfit??? I've definitely pinned it and maybe I'll find some things to do a rendition. Keep up the great work! :)

  18. I'm also suffering from Olympics withdrawal. I don't care about most of these sports any other time, but I'm all in for these 17 days. (Winter Olympics only, not a huge Summer Olympics fan) And it's the only time that Canada gets to be smug (hockey and curling dominance!)

Your outfit is gorgeous, and thanks for dispelling the myth that Asians can't wear yellow. It's not my favourite colour, but maybe I'll experiment more now.

    1. I totally stayed away from orange and yellow for YEARS because people told me that I couldn't wear the colors. I've figured now that as long as the colors were saturated, I can pretty much get away with any hue. Now, I can't really pull off pastels unfortunately ...

  21. I'm obsessed with the print on that dress. You had this in a picture on a collage-type post a few weeks ago, right? The whole look is so Charlotte from Sex and the City. I wasn't into the Olympics this winter. I like the summer ones much better. I am so glad that the network shows are back and that The Americans and Hannibal are starting again.

  22. Love the mustard yellow outfit on you, Lisa. :) And you should watch House of Cards! I only started the first season after the second season was released but we caught up in no time. Sad to have to wait for the third and final season now.

    1. There are so many good shows I need to catch up on via Netflix. My problem is that once I start a series, I pretty much binge-watch until it's over. I literally woke up in the middle of the night to watch season 1 of Downton Abbey way back when.

  23. Beautiful dress. I totally thought it was Kate Spade till I read it was Forever 21. You always seem to find the very best stuff there! Looks great. I love the Olympics and watched it every night It is always such a let down when it is over. Ahh well, at least Hart of Dixie will be back in a few weeks!

  30. Can't believe your dress is from F21! It looks more high-end :) and it does feel weird that there are no more Olympics to watch today...but I love music talent shows, so luckily "The Voice" is filling that void, haha

  35. Oh I love this so! Maybe the only way to get past the mournful lack of winter olympic events in our day is to leap into some marathon colour wearing? I`m game. bring it, girl. (I was watching events live between 1 and 3 am, then popping in for updates through the morning at work, and then lying on the couch in the evening for the highlights! Too much?)

  39. Love the Coldplay reference, and your outfit. So sunny and pretty. I don't wear yellow very much, but now I want to because I have bright blue and poppy-colored shoes to go with it! I watched the Olympic Figure Skating Exhibition because they finally had the Johnny and Tara commentary team on primetime! I DVR'd the pre-Olympic closing ceremony because it included the "new" documentary on the 20-year "old" Nancy Kerrigan and Tonya Harding skating scandal. Apparently Nancy Kerrigan would not give an interview about it until now. I am now turning to "The Americans" on FX which starts the second season this week - Matthew Rhys and Keri Russell as Russian KGB posing as American citizens in the early 1980's. I'm originally from Washington, DC so I recognize a lot of locations and references. Plus KR's wardrobe is pretty awesome.
