I actually wore this outfit earlier this month on a warm weekend to a girls' brunch (sometimes there's no better excuse than "why not" to make a meal an occasion), but I thought it appropriate to post this outfit today as a "golden" send-off for the Winter Olympics.
As I've mentioned in an earlier post, I love the Olympics - I love watching the different sports and rooting for all the athletes. It's a total sports spectacle ('cause where else would curling and doubles luge get this much air time?) and that's part of the fun of it. Plus, I kind of feel like the Winter Olympics are a bit more egalitarian than their Summer counterpart since the medal count is more spread out.
So after two weeks of automatically having the television tuned to #sochi from 7-11pm, it's going to feel a little weird going back to "regular programming." The Shahs and Downton are done and the NY Housewives (my faves!) aren't starting up for another few weeks - what am going to watch now?

ReplyDeleteLove the print of that dress, you look adorable.

Blasphemy, I know, but I hadn't watched a single Olympic event this time around. I guess this is what happens when one has satellite, eh? With so many choices in programming and TiVo, not to mention my hubs monopolizing the remote and watching nothing but the Golf Channel, we were actually an Olympic-free zone over here.
ReplyDeleteDamn, girl, good thing we're not the same size! All your items are to. Die. For. I would've bought them all up had I the body. ;p Now the shoes are intriguing - interested in the spectator pumps I am. (Yes, I just turned into Yoda right then).
My parent's have "fancy TV" tee with loads of channels and I usually end up missing watch I originally intended to watch because there are so many darn channels!
DeleteI watched ice dancing. Why? Because I was in town and my father in law was fascinated by how it was considered a sport. Yep. Myself and a 65 year old man watched ice dancing and that was literally the extend of my Olympic watching. School is just too much right now so I never really got into it.
ReplyDeleteFather/daughter bonding time over ice dancing - awesome! ;o)
DeleteI love these Jackie-O inspired outfits of yours. You look radiant in yellow!
ReplyDeleteAll yellow and all lovely! Every piece in your look is in harmony.
ReplyDeleteWhat a shame my feet are smaller than yours and my body is one size up from yours : (
ReplyDeleteYou look like a ray of sunshine.
bisous
Suzanne
For a shorty, I learn towards the larger feet, hehe ...
DeleteGreat print on the dress and I love the cut of the jacket on you. I didn't really watch much of the winter olympics, I used to love watching figure and speed skating but time just slipped by.

The Tiny Heart
It was on during the day here, started around 5am and finished around 7pm with highlights of the day the rest of the evening so maybe a bit more accessible for us (I'm in bed by 10pm!). I watched all of the figure skating/ice dancing. I love it. We also recorded things like boarder cross, ski cross, slalom, skeleton (yay Lizzie Yarnold) that were on when we were at work to flick through later. I've never been skiing so I do quite like to marvel at them throwing themselves over the jumps....
ReplyDeleteYeah, it's fun to watch some of the sports and wonder, "why in the world would you do that?!" in an amazed way!
DeleteReally cute outfit! Really bold and so classy and sophisticated.
ReplyDeleteI didnt watch much of the Olympics and when it did, it was really intense.

I'm gonna be honest and say that I"m a little jealous of you right now. I thought that green outfit was my favorite, but now you've come up with an adorable little vintage suit! How cute is this outfit??? I've definitely pinned it and maybe I'll find some things to do a rendition. Keep up the great work! :)

Thanks! I guess I do well with monotone looks!
DeleteYou look just lovely in this outfit, Lisa! We are supposed to have one good day of weather before rain but alas I think I caught a cold so it's back to tights and warm outfits for me.
ReplyDeleteI've literally packed away my winter stuff already because it's been so nice in the SE for the last week. Alas, I think I was too quick, it's wet and getting colder now ...
DeleteI love this Lisa. You look so regal! Gorgeous look.

I'm not big on the Olympics, but I am big on yellow and I LOVE this outfit!!! So pretty on you Lisa!
ReplyDeletethat outfit is amazing! love it!

I'm also suffering from Olympics withdrawal. I don't care about most of these sports any other time, but I'm all in for these 17 days. (Winter Olympics only, not a huge Summer Olympics fan) And it's the only time that Canada gets to be smug (hockey and curling dominance!)
ReplyDeleteYour outfit is gorgeous, and thanks for dispelling the myth that Asians can't wear yellow. It's not my favourite colour, but maybe I'll experiment more now.
I totally stayed away from orange and yellow for YEARS because people told me that I couldn't wear the colors. I've figured now that as long as the colors were saturated, I can pretty much get away with any hue. Now, I can't really pull off pastels unfortunately ...
DeleteYou look amazing in yellow! And I love the Coldplay reference...fave band.
ReplyDeleteHow I wish your shoes were size 6.5. The ones you're selling are so pretty
I got big feet for a shorty, haha!

I'm obsessed with the print on that dress. You had this in a picture on a collage-type post a few weeks ago, right? The whole look is so Charlotte from Sex and the City. I wasn't into the Olympics this winter. I like the summer ones much better. I am so glad that the network shows are back and that The Americans and Hannibal are starting again.
ReplyDeleteI def need to watch the Americans, but I'm behind and need to start with season 1!
DeleteLove the mustard yellow outfit on you, Lisa. :) And you should watch House of Cards! I only started the first season after the second season was released but we caught up in no time. Sad to have to wait for the third and final season now.
ReplyDeleteThere are so many good shows I need to catch up on via Netflix. My problem is that once I start a series, I pretty much binge-watch until it's over. I literally woke up in the middle of the night to watch season 1 of Downton Abbey way back when.
DeleteBeautiful dress. I totally thought it was Kate Spade till I read it was Forever 21. You always seem to find the very best stuff there! Looks great. I love the Olympics and watched it every night It is always such a let down when it is over. Ahh well, at least Hart of Dixie will be back in a few weeks!
ReplyDeleteHart of Dixie, yes! I'm so bummed about AB and Lavon!
DeleteMy goodness, what a pretty outfit. This dress is gorgeous! I'm kind of bummed that the Olympics are over too!
ReplyDeleteI'm so jealous that you can wear this color! I can't. :/ Anyway, I love the high-low mix going on, and the tiny, itsy bit of leopard!

I stayed away from yellow for the longest time but I've learned now that as long as it's a saturated color, I can usually pull it off. Now me in pastels though and I totally pale away!
DeleteLove you in yellow! So pretty and springtime-y!
ReplyDeletexo,cynthia
love this yellow combo! so bright and cheery!
ReplyDeleteThis outfit is so darling. The first thought that came in my head was the Palm Springs episode of Mad Men. I could not believe it when I read that the dress is Forever 21. But then again, you can find some fun treasures in that store.
ReplyDeleteHave a great evening,
Stacey
Ooh, I was not channeling Mad Men, but I totally wish I did it on purpose now! Ooh, that sounds awesome!
DeleteI've been wondering the same thing--what am I going to watch now?! I am behind on Downton, so I have a few episodes of that to watch. I will miss having the Olympics as a go-to though.
ReplyDeleteThis dress is so pretty and ladylike!
Can't believe your dress is from F21! It looks more high-end :) and it does feel weird that there are no more Olympics to watch today...but I love music talent shows, so luckily "The Voice" is filling that void, haha
ReplyDeleteMy fave purchase from F21!
DeleteThis is a gorgeous outfit on you Lisa! Even though I love everything you wear, I must say this is one of my faves! The way you styled the dress makes it look like a million bucks!
ReplyDeleteThis outfit is basically everything. Fantastic use of yellow! I would like to borrow the whole thing from your closet... I promise to give it back...
ReplyDeleteHehe, I have a hard time wearing the sweater and dress separately now - they just seem made for each other!
DeleteThis is my favorite outfit you have ever worn! That yellow is fabulous! I am yellow with envy! : )
ReplyDeleteJenni
Lisa that sunny yummy yellow is such a gorgeous print I love that dress. You look so beautiful in that outfit ! gorgeous jacket also. Have a wonderful week Lisa xxxx. Elle http://mydailycostume.com
ReplyDeleteOh I love this so! Maybe the only way to get past the mournful lack of winter olympic events in our day is to leap into some marathon colour wearing? I`m game. bring it, girl. (I was watching events live between 1 and 3 am, then popping in for updates through the morning at work, and then lying on the couch in the evening for the highlights! Too much?)
ReplyDeleteYou were doing way more Olympics-ing that I was, girl! But my evenings have suddenly opened up, hehe!
DeleteThat yellow dress is beautiful! I like it with the gold belt :)
ReplyDeletebeen seeing so much yellow around lately on blogs, makes me feel I should own more! :)
Away From Blue
I feel like I need more yellow in my life too - currently on the search for a full yellow skirt!
Deleteyou look stunning in yellow. and i adore this dress...what a fun print!
ReplyDeleteThis is my favorite outfit of yours. Ever. And I am so jealous that you look so fabulous in yellow. And that dress! It has such a sweet Scandinavian print. I can't believe it's from Forever21! What a find!

Probably my fave thing purchased ever from F21!
DeleteLove the Coldplay reference, and your outfit. So sunny and pretty. I don't wear yellow very much, but now I want to because I have bright blue and poppy-colored shoes to go with it! I watched the Olympic Figure Skating Exhibition because they finally had the Johnny and Tara commentary team on primetime! I DVR'd the pre-Olympic closing ceremony because it included the "new" documentary on the 20-year "old" Nancy Kerrigan and Tonya Harding skating scandal. Apparently Nancy Kerrigan would not give an interview about it until now. I am now turning to "The Americans" on FX which starts the second season this week - Matthew Rhys and Keri Russell as Russian KGB posing as American citizens in the early 1980's. I'm originally from Washington, DC so I recognize a lot of locations and references. Plus KR's wardrobe is pretty awesome.
ReplyDeleteI need to check out The Americans. I wonder if it's on Netflix so I can catch up and watch season 1. I've adored Keri Russell since "Felicity" days!
DeleteI can't speak to Netflix, but Season 1 is on DVD, so you can binge-watch this weekend :-)
DeleteI would love to see what your closet looks like :) The yellow print is pretty :)
ReplyDeletekatattack2000.wordpress.com
I did a closet tour a long time ago (http://respecttheshoes.blogspot.com/2011/03/full-disclosure-closet-underbelly.html) - my closet still looks about the same, just fuller! ;o)
DeleteI seriously did a double take when I saw where that dress is from. Seriously?! You have an eye for greatness! This is such a chic, sophisticated outfit! I think I need to check F21 a little more often!
ReplyDeleteSo cute!! Love that dress. And that jacket is so chic!
