Things I'm currently loving ...
... Call the Midwife. I'm currently watching season 2 on Netflix. I "blame" Kristin for turning me onto this series after I was on Downton Abbey withdrawal and I may have found a new fave. Team Sister Bernadette and Dr. Turner here! Plus who doesn't love 1950's London fashion?
... It's officially fall now. Which means it is officially fall festival season. Forget about those pumpkin spice lattes, give me a sausage on a stick and some funnel cake!
... Faux leather accented clothing from Ann Taylor. I actually haven't found anything I've liked from AT for a while now, but these ponte leggings, these ankle pants and this skirt (and shoot, this one too) are highly tempting me.
... F. Scott Fitzgerald. One of my all-time favorite authors, I've read every one of his major works more times than I can count, and am currently Fitzgerald re-invigorated, thanks to just watching The Great Gatsby (though I personally think the version with Redford and Farrow was better).
... This blouse I'm wearing. My first Tucker piece (that I bought on super-sale and with the help of a gift card) and hopefully not my last. It's all silky and flowy and the like.
... Pretzel croissants. Buttery layers mixed with a dense toasted crust - mm, mm. Found mine at Fresh Market. Plan to try the original at City Bakery next time I'm in NYC.
... Pompei Purple. The perfect shimmery fuchsia polish. My nails are so happy!

Things I am currently loving - your look!! That shirt, the print - is amazing. Love it so much.
ReplyDeleteI'll have to check out that show as I'm a DA lover too :)
This blouse is so gorgeous! I love the print!

You look great! Faux leather seems to be all the rage this year, so fun.

I love the aztec print on the top! I also can't get enough faux leather pieces for the fall :)

mmm... sausage on a stick. i wouldn't say no to funnel cake either!! :D
ReplyDeleteyou look adorable! the print is so fun!! xo
I heard there is such a thing as red velvet funnel cake - in the interest of state fair/fall festival "research," I may need to hunt one down.
Deletei have been loving the fall AT line - I bought one too many pieces for this collection. I started watching Call the Midwife and kind of forgot about it. I am not into the Walking Dead & Orange is the New Black.
ReplyDeleteGreat top! The colors are perfect for fall.

Oh no...another new series to watch on Netflix. Have to say I didn't like Orange is the New Black at first but then totally loved it and now am addicted.
ReplyDeleteWill watch the finale of Breaking Bad tonight...so don't tell me anything! LOL That and MadMen are my favourite of all time.
Couldn't agree more about the Robert Redford version of The Great Gatsby. I couldn't even watch that other version all the way through.
Love the orange/red skirt and cognac shoes.
bisous
Suzanne
I need to try Orange is the New Black, I heard it was pretty good. And I need to see that House of Cards series too.
DeleteYou look so damn awesome in this! Love how you're using the red pencil skirt to pull out the subtle red bits in the top. And how gorgeous is that top, in all its drapey, geometric glory?! Such a perfect fall outfit, with all those warm colours!
ReplyDeleteAlso, high five fellow Gatsby fan, I love the Great Gatsby too (book and movie)! Though I've only seen the new movie, maybe it's time to check out the Redford one... I even bought the Out of Print T-shirt to show off my fandom... along with my Xavier Institute T-shirt! Because let's be open about our fangirling, eh? ;)
The Redford version is the no-glitz version, but I liked it better ... though I prefer Carey Mulligan as Daisy. She's totally Daisy to me!
DeleteI really love the whole look dear. :)

Ann Taylor is KILLING it this season! I am entirely going to spend too much money there!
ReplyDeleteYeah, I am pretty sure I will not look good in pleather-clad leggings, but AT makes it look good!
DeleteI love Call the Midwife as well. I always imagine my mother growing up during those times.
ReplyDeleteThe pattern of that blouse is gorgeous! It wouldn't be Tucker!
Nooooo! Not another show to obsess over! Argh. Curse you, Lisa! Lol.
ReplyDeleteThe top is gorj, as usual. Never heard of Tucker before but now I must peruse.

i love the print of this top! it looks great paired with the red skirt!
ReplyDeletecute & little
Oh wow! I love how you styled your Tucker blouse! That skirt is awesome - such a beautiful color. I love Downton Abbey but for whatever reason did not get into Call The Midwife. I probably didn't give it a chance so I really, I should give it another try. I love looking at 1950's fashion.

It took me a few episodes to get into Call the Midwife, but I am a full-on fan now.
Delete..where can i get this sausage on a stick? I'm fairly sure the bay area is behind on its delicious items on a stick.
ReplyDeleteAlso, F Scott Fitzgerald is amazing. I took a class on him and Hemingway in college. A-MA-ZING.
Your shoes are gorgeous and add to the rest of your outfit!
What is it about state fairs and fall festivals and things to eat on a stick? For some reason, putting something on a stick makes it better.
DeleteUm, I'm not in Downton Abbey withdrawal, because I am SO watching Series 4 right now with the Brits! You can stream it every week on Project Free TV. :)
ReplyDeleteOoh, I did not know that! Sounds way tempting, especially since it avoids having to wait until 2014 - but then I'd have to watch it all out of order! Argh.
DeleteI love Downtown Abbey too, so will check Call the Midwife out. Thanks for the recommendation! Your printed voluminous top looks great with the fitted skirt :-D
ReplyDeleteThat is such a pretty top!! i love the print!
ReplyDeletexo,
Angela
I am loving some of AT's shoes! And the Chanel like sweater jacket . Tucker has the best prints. I love how you made that blouse professional!
ReplyDeleteTry Cronuts if you go back to NY :) I love all the pumpkin spice flavours of everything over there too :) Back to Melb its spring :) Love the colors in your OOTD
ReplyDeletekatattack2000.wordpress.com
I would love to try a cronut, but I am not sure if I want to wait in line for hours ... oh hype!
DeleteThis is a gorgeous top! You look so ready for fall.
ReplyDeleteRight now I am loving soup! Something to do with the cooler temperatures for sure.
These colors are really amazing together! Great combo!

Love this look Lisa! I too am on Downton Abbey withdrawal so I may have to take a look at Call the Midwife! I'll be sure to do it when the hubs is away and I have lots of free time!
ReplyDeleteIt took me a few episodes to really get into it - but I felt the same way initially about DA too.

ReplyDeleteAnn Taylor has been killing it with their fall collection this year! I love the print of your top!
ReplyDeleteFunny, I just re-watched Baz Luhrmann's The Great Gatsby too. It's gorgeous, but not the best adaptation ever.
ReplyDeleteYour outfit is amazing. Of course, I love the pop of turquoise in the clutch. :)
A lot of folks I mentioned said the newer version was bad but I didn't think it was THAT bad, I actually quite liked it for what it was. Plus the music was fun. But Redford is much more Jay Gatsby than Leo, to me.
DeleteI am currently loving skinnies as they look so good on me (can I be so conceited?)
ReplyDeleteLove your oufit. Great that totally different but complementing colour clutch.
Greetje
I adore your use of color! And those shoes are killer. Fantastic all around. :)

ReplyDeleteThanks for the link to Call the Midwife - I think I can get hooked on that one too! :) Agree that Ann Taylor is looking sharp lately. I really like a lot of their tops, skirts and shoes this season.
ReplyDeleteLove your outfit with the pretty colors for fall! :)
