I'm lucky enough that I have a job that provides me an opportunity to
travel, but as you other road warriors may know, traveling for work
means that you get to go to a slew of places, but it doesn't guarantee that you get to see any of them.
Add
that to a project schedule that is never ending sometimes, a honey that
is nose-deep in his career, and a pup with separation anxiety is it the pup, or me and that itself usually creates enough excuses to quash any notion of spontaneity when it comes "family" travel.
So I am making myself a little promise this year - which I hope I can
keep since it is only February and I'd be held more accountable if I
mention it on blogdom - I, or we, need to make more time for our lives and travel for ourselves.
There
are so many many places I'd love to go to for the first time - Hawaii,
the Pacific Northwest, Montreal, South Carolina to name a few. Plus
loads of places I so want to revisit and have the time to explore again -
Savannah, the beach, London, Paris, any beach, Hong Kong, water, water, water.
Do you ladies have the travel bug? How do you make time from your busy lives to put everything on hold and go somewhere? Big or small, what are some of the places you ladies would like to go to or revisit?

Awh, very nicely done. I even viewed your previous post (just the post before) and have decided you have impeccable taste. Yes, you do!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Renae!

ReplyDeleteI love the color of that skirt! I bought something similar in a longer skirt to wear over a leather jacket.. you look amazing!

ReplyDeleteOh, I'd love to visit Egypt. It's one of those countries that is just calling out my name !
I love the fuchsia skirt with the navy and white striped jacket! Such a great color combo!
ReplyDeleteThis outfit is perfect! I love pink with navy blue, especially with the stripes!
ReplyDeletewww.darlingprepster.blogspot.com
Love navy and pink together! I love to travel, but my husband doesn't. Boo!
ReplyDeleteSounds like an excuse to plan a fun girls' trip! ;o)
Deleteit is hard to travel and not get to go anywhere - i was traveling more for work this time last year and i was driving/flying a lot without really seeing much of anything. i got lucky in that my work did allow us to spend a lot of time on the strip in vegas and i had a wonderful time exploring with a co-worker! Anyhow, love the shoes in this outfit! They are so fun - and the bright pink skirt is great on you!
ReplyDelete<3 katherine / of corgis & cocktails
I try to squeeze at least an afternoon of goofing off in especially if it is an exciting location and at least a couple of dinners out, but it's hard to go to somewhere great for business and come and go without having the time to really get a sense for the place.
DeleteOooh that jacket is wonderful! Will have to go check out Gap now!!!
ReplyDeleteI want to go back to St. Simons Island in GA. We went in 2007 and it was so relaxing!

I need to look that place up - thanks for the rec!
DeleteI love, love traveling. I did more traveling before I had kids and after the second one came, it is way too expensive to fly. Paying for 4 flights compared to 2 flights will kill a budget! But I would love to get back to NYC for a good stay, mexico on a second honeymoon and pretty much anywhere in Europe! One day soon...one day soon...
ReplyDeleteMy sis and her hubby were the same way - they were globe trekkers when it was just the two of them. It's harder now that they have a kid, but I notice they take more car trips, maybe not go as far but still try to get out. I think they still go to more places than I do - I need to take after them more!
Deletei definitely am wanting to travel. however i haven't learned to make the time or money to do so, if you figure it out let me know!
ReplyDeleteK
This is such a cute outfit...love the bright pink, navy and white together! You look fab! I really love to travel and we have big plans this year!!! We leave for London for 10 days next month and are so excited! We'll also stop by Belgium and Paris for a bit. I also have some plans to take a few girls trips this year to Las Vegas and Utah hopefully. Plus one other spot TBD still. Now that my husband is out of residency we can actually go travel a bit!

Ooh, London is one of my fave cities, you guys are lucky!
DeleteCute outfit!! I have the travel bug, big time. We are constantly planning trips to have something to look forward to and get us through the daily grind at work/home. In fact, we are flying to Paris next week and then to Dubai! So excited.

Hawaii is totally on my bucket list - wish it weren't so far away!
DeleteI would love to travel more - but i can be a challenge when you've got a dog with separation anxiety!
ReplyDeleteLove your pink and stripes mix - definitely have to borrow this look.
Chic on the Cheap
My husband travels a LOT for work - and like you said - hardly gets to "see" any of the places he visits. We try and add on a few extra days to some of his trips so that I can fly up and meet him (then his flight is free! Yay!) so we can both explore new places. He's Tongan, so that's definitely somewhere on my BIG travel to-do list. But California to the Pacific Islands is so. expensive. :(
ReplyDeleteLove that jacket on you - perfection!

See Mo Go.
That's a great idea - unfortunately for my honey and me, our schedules never seem to align right enough to do that yet. Hopefully this year!
DeleteI love the pink skirt on you. I love to travel but not for work as you usually end up staying in hotels and eating out all of the time. After a while,it gets a bit tiresome.
ReplyDeletewww.petitestyleonline.com
Really love this outfit Lisa. We try to go somewhere new each year as well as our usual 2-3 trips to France. This year Dubai & Abu Dhabi for a friends wedding. As Europe is so easy to get to for us we've been to Portugal, Majorca, Spain, Turkey in the last few years plus a trend recently has been stag dos abroad so my husband went to Estonia & Prague. We spent two weeks in the Maldives on honeymoon in 08. There are plenty of places id like to see in the world but as long as we get a few breaks each year just to chill out, eat, drink, read & spend time together I'm not too fussed where that takes place at the moment!
ReplyDeleteOh & I'm going to Amsterdam in October for the marathon too :-)
Europeans are so much more well-traveled - you guys have such vastly different cultures to explore so close together.
Deletesuch a lovely outfit lisa - i'm jealous of your sun!
ReplyDeleteyes.. i have the travel bug. it doesn't help that my MIL has it also... and is taking me to london and paris next month. i'm fortunate that i work for a company that has an open ended vacation policy (take what you need when but don't abuse it) and DH and I have a short and long list of places we'd like to go (tokyo and australia for him, turkey and tokyo topping mine). i've also been trying to get my family to take another vacation together before DH and I have kids but we shall see where that ends up.
Ooh, London AND Paris - lucky girl!
DeleteI love that skirt, especially paired with the stripes!!

That skirt is super cute on you! I travel a lot for my job too, but we're so busy that we never get to experience much of where we are. So I always make it a point to EAT something from the area - Texas bbq, sea food in FL, etc. It's a little something, at least!
ReplyDeleteSometimes eating out is the best part of a biz trip, hehe.
DeleteThat pop of pink is just perfect! I love how you took an otherwise neutral outfit and kicked it up a notch with a bright skirt. And I am with you on this one - since I live in FL a lot of people will travel to see me for their vacation, but I never end up going on vacation myself! I already told my boyfriend I want to make an effort to go on a trip somewhere fun this year outside of FL. I would love to go back to Savannah, it is absolutely stunning and there is so much to do.
ReplyDeleteStephanie
The color of that skirt is gorgeous on you Lisa and love how you pared it with the striped jacket!

Travel is my middle name as you would probably know from my blog. Alas this year I will travel from the couch since I am prioritizing vacation days for the wedding trips and the honeymoon. Having an overseas wedding kills like that..
ReplyDeleteBut I hope you indulge YOUR wanderlust Lisa - I want to travel vicariously through you.
ps - being grounded doesn't mean I haven't thought about where I am going NEXT year! The list keeps on growing!
www.indulgingmywanderlust.com
Yes, I've enjoyed living through your travels - I def need to do more of that myself!
Deleteyou look amazing!! will have to check out that blazer now! you always do that to me. LOL.
ReplyDeletei'm travelling a lot in the next few months doing the work road warrior. we are taking the kids south too, and i'm really looking forward to it.

Lovely outfit and I love to travel too. Like you, we are very busy but we just have to find a long weekend here and there and block it out/reserve it for a weekend away and then get booking it ASAP so we are sorted and have to go then :) love it!

I met my husband while living in France (he is from Nice)...so the travel bug has always been there.
ReplyDeleteHubby just surprised me that he is taking me away to Vegas next week for our "when we met" anniversary. Yay! We went to Antigua this year for our winter vacation but were also in Alaska in Sept.
We have travelled through Europe, North America, Central America and Australia for leisure but my husband travels all the time everywhere else in the world for his work. I am glad he hasn't ever gotten bored with travelling. I think if we could we would travel all the time.
I always say never to wait till you're older to travel or do something you want to. You need to make time to do it now. The older you get, the hard it becomes to travel.
That is funny about your blazer...I just saw it on another blogger today. It is lovely.

I agree with you - I shouldn't be putting thing off. Have a fantastic time in Vegas, it's one of those great cities where you don't have to really do anything to feel like you're doing something!
Deletei have that exact fuchsia pink skirt from j.crew too! i'm sorta feeling like we've had this convo before tho ahahahahaha! you look so pretty! love these bright colors on you hon :)!
ReplyDeleteCan we talk about that jacket for a moment cuz it is FABULOUS! And I love that skirt and that you paired the two together!
ReplyDeleteLet me know if you need any Savannah/St. Simon's/Amelia Island recommendations! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Caroline, I'll keep that in mind! I've only been to Savannah once for a long weekend - would love to go back and do more exploring!
DeleteGreat skirt! I'm find that I'm very drawn to bright colors in the winter when everything else is so drab. And the texture of the jacket is very cool =)
ReplyDeleteI gasped when I saw this outfit on my dashboard - I'm crazy about the color of your skirt and I love the striped jacket! I've been hunting for a skirt this color for awhile now and haven't found one I loved yet.
ReplyDeleteNicole @ Sequined Patterns
I like the skirt! I travel for work too sometimes, but unfortunately I don't usually have time for sight seeing.
ReplyDeleteYour skirt is so bright and cheerful!
ReplyDeleteLove the jacket with the skirt..
ReplyDeletethe color of this pink is truly amazing!
Looks great!

in LOVE with that skirt!!! we are going to miami for our first time ever next week! i'm actually going for a blog thing so it will be work but with a lot of play time too! =) i would love to go back to NYC...and my dream vacay is Bora Bora. =)

I love that pop of color in your outfit! I don't travel a lot and I haven't been to places that I've planned to visit. But I would really love to go to the beach on summer vacation :)
ReplyDeleteTravel has always been a huge part of my life. I grew up traveling with my family, since my parents loved to travel. I get restless so I've even quit jobs to go travel for 6 months. I've traveled through nearly every country in Europe, been to about 7 countries in South America during a 2 month trip there, been to Egypt, drove for months and months through Canada and all through the U.S., traveled for several months through New Zealand and Australia, and have been to a few countries in Asia. Fortunately my boyfriend loves to travel too. Bhutan is next on our list. We're on the hunt for places which aren't spoiled by so many tourist as we were a bit disappointed by Vietnam and Cambodia because they were overrun with tourists. I never get sick of going to Europe. We go about every year since my BF is German. I actually never get sick of traveling through the U.S. And one of my favorite places is probably Hawaii. I've probably been to Hawaii about a dozen times, and I'm still not sick of it. Anyhow, it's just so important to me to expose myself to different cultures and see different landscapes, cities, architecture that I just make time for it! I have friends that have never traveled anywhere, and I'm shocked they don't want to see the world!
ReplyDeleteWow, you are a true blue globe trekker - not only get to visit a bunch of places, but to really experience them and get a sense for the culture and people. I'm envious!
DeleteI LOVE this jacket (said in my singing voice). I'm going to have to check out the Gap asap. God only know that I don't need another jacket in my closet, but this might be the last one. I travel a lot for work, but only in the state of Florida. Unfortunately, I don't travel anywhere too exotic or glamourous. On my personal time, I try to take some time for myself to getaway. When I don't have too much time, I zip down to Miami or the Keys for a long weekend with family. Later this year, I'm headed to Vancouver, BC for the first time and I going back to Jamaica for a wedding. My dream vacation is taking a trip to Greece for about 2 weeks.
ReplyDeleteMoody Girl In Style
I def don't need another jacket - but this one squeezed its way into my closet ...
DeleteInteresting combination with that scarf.I like it - the unusual patern mixed with the vivid pink and stripes.
ReplyDeleteIn regards to having the travelling bug,I've got to say that this is not my thing.I don't really enjoy travelling just for the sake of it,though I like to discover about our beautiful world on the TV and internet.
However, what really excites me is going to a place for a purpose. This is the kind of travelling I truly enjoy. For example going to a different country to study its language, for a wedding of a friend,to see a concert,to do some special shopping...
During the summer I like to go to the local beaches.I live between Croatia and Italy,so it's quite easy for us here to have that -sometimes much needed - change of scenary and culture fix :).
Mwah sweety :)!
You must have some beautiful beaches where you are - and I think living in Europe lends itself to experiencing more vastly different cultures and people.
DeleteAnd of course,I wish you nice travelling :)!
ReplyDeleteLove that jacket and scarf Lisa! I don't travel enough, but I'd sure love to visit a different place every year! You need to visit Hawaii! You will love it:)! I've only been to Maui...I definitely want to see the other islands too!
ReplyDeleteLove your outfit, esp the hot pink skirt! Lovely style blog you got! And yes, i've got the travel bug too, especially with CNY coming up. I just went to Paris last year and Vancouver for Christmas and i so wanna revisit these two places! Tokyo is also on top of my must go places!!!

I think that is a great goal for this year! Traveling is sooo much fun and creates such unforgetable memories. I'm hoping to travel more locally this year. There are so many parts of Panama (my country) that I haven't seen, so hopefully this year I'll travel around a little more. You look very cute in this outfit btw, love all the mix of prints!

Hey, You looks pretty goods on this shoes. Your get up is so fine.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous combination! Love it! I have two of those JCrew skirts in blue hues; bummed I missed out on the bright pink!
ReplyDeleteI'm such a beach lover, so that's where I always want to go. My husband and I just booked a trip to Hawaii; I've never been before, so I'm really looking forward to it!
xoxo
Lucky gal - Hawaii is on my bucket list!
DeleteThe hubby and I make it a point to go on one big trip a year. We figured we gotta get the travel bug out (as much as we can anyway) before we start a family. It's so hard because there's still so many places i want to visit and re-visit ;)
ReplyDeleteMaggie
lovestylehappiness.blogspot.com
The color of your skirt is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI want to visit the Pacific Northwest, too. We also want to visit Vancouver! We don't take "big" trips very often. Last summer we went to DC and it was our first out-of-state trip in years. But we pop over to Austin often and to the Texas coast in the summer. It's always fun to get away (even if it's just an hour away).
I agree - we need to take more time to even do little getaways. But we always end up hemming and hawing about that kind of stuff and suddenly a long weekend comes or something and we hadn't planned a thing!
Deletetraveling for yourself is important. i'm a big supporter of that! i live in the northeast and last year made a trip west to Yosemite and San Fran... trip of a life time and memories i will treasure forever. there is something to be said about the feelings and experiences you get from exploring new places! :)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous shoes as always. You look so girly and pretty. Love the style, fit ^ color of that feminine skirt. Also I really like the scarf, clutch & pearl bracelet.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the well wishes on my Baby Girl.
P.S. I would love to have you Guest Post on my blog. Would you be interested? I'd love having you. =)
Aw, thanks, EP. We'll chat offline!
DeleteI am sometimes overwhelmed with the travel bug. In my younger years I trekked overseas multiple times to far off and obscure places. I took my son to London when he was only 4 years old.
ReplyDeleteOnce bitten by the travel bug, I don't think it ever goes away. It's all about planning and narrowing down which adventures are most important to have.
You just inspired a future blog post!
I definitely need to make more of a priority in planning trips - no more excuses!
DeleteSounds like a really good idea, planning some family trips, it's so important to make time for stuff like that! I really want to Hong Kong again too, to see my baby nephew for the first time! I also really want to take a trip to mexico with my husband, though I've heard so much about all the crime there that I'm a little scared to go now!
ReplyDeleteHong Kong is such a fantastic city - and shoot, if you've got family there, best excuse there is to visit a great city!
DeleteBeautiful outfit! The pink is such a vibrant color! As for travel, I am waiting for the day when I get to visit Europe. I went to the Czech Republic once and had a quick sightseeing layover in Paris and Milan but I'd love to have some time to really see those countries.
ReplyDeleteFashionEdible Blog
That bright pink skirt makes me happy...it makes me think of spring!
ReplyDeleteI like to travel a little. I'm definitely a homebody, but every now and then I think I'd like to go see somewhere different. Not too far though, and not for too long. I love long weekend trips, a week to ten days is about as long as I'd like to be away. Makes trips further afield more difficult, but there's plenty of Europe I'd like to go see.
i definitely have been wanting to travel!! i have the entire month of april off and have no idea where to go. i swear, march 31 is going to be here before i know it and i'll have to just buy a ticket to wherever is cheapest and get out of here!
ReplyDeleteThat skirts amazing xx

Fantastic outfit! Love the skirt, jacket and bracelet! You're so lucky that you get to travel with your job, but I understand that it's not so easy, and you don't get to see much of the places you visit.
ReplyDeleteI love to travel, but I don't get to do it very often. Not because of work, but because it usually costs a lot. Wish I could travel more.
