Uncommonly Good

The fine folks at UncommonGoods recently contacted me about checking out a few pieces from their jewelry collection and of course, I could not refuse. One of the hardest things for me during the holidays is to find unique gifts for my family and friends - well UncommonGoods specializes in that area and their holiday book now literally sits on top of my gift-browsing catalog pile.

UncommonGoods is a Brooklyn-based retailer of distinct gift and home decor items. Their mission is to support and provide a platform for artists and designers - half of their products are made by hand and most of their jewelry collection is created in the U.S. UncommonGoods is not just a cool place to go buy unique gifts though - the company is an independently-owned B Corporation that supports non-profits and small businesses. And with every purchase made, they donate $$ to a non-profit of your choice.

I selected two pieces from UncommonGoods' jewelry collection to try out - the horseshoe pendant by Dana Reed and the love birch cuff by Nancy Nelson. I picked these pieces not only because visually they drew me in, but also they are part of the handmade collection and each piece includes a bio on the artisan and the motivation behind their exceptional creations (the cuff is hand cast in brass from real birch bark, for example, and the horseshoe is a symbol of prosperity).

I know it's still early, but I already have the holidays on the brain (yes, my Christmas decorations are starting to creep their way out ...) and already have a bunch of stuff dog-eared from UncommonGoods' catalog as good gift prospects. Seriously, guys, if you're starting to think about gifts, I'd recommend checking these guys out for the ladies in your life or The special lady in your life.
