Happy 2012, ladies! I hope you've all had a terrific holidays with too much of almost everything.

Mine was fantastic, if not exhausting. I know that I'm blessed to have been able to visit my fam in NYC, then have BF fly up to join me for a few days while we stayed at the Tribeca Grand, before flitting down to visit BF's mom and big sis in Knoxville, then a drive to see his dad. We had not attempted to visit all our family for the holidays before so it was am exhilirating mix of excitement, exhaustion, and tons of dirty laundry into two crammed carry-ons.

BF has only been to NYC briefly before and I have not lived there in years, so it was nice to play tour guide / tourist and fall back in crush with my hometown. Despite the c-c-chilly weather, we did a ton of walking and stopped by most of the major Manhattan sites - ate, ate, ate - and let ourselves go with the flow despite the holiday crowds. We hope to be able to go back when it gets warmer and spend more time revisiting some neighborhoods that we only had time to glance at.

Below is a medley of pics from last week - it was fuh-reezing in NYC when I was there, so I bundled as best as I could:

And in less than 24 hours, I went from "bright lights, big city" to visiting BF's dad, chopping trees, feeding cows and driving a track loader (for realz):

Back to our regularly-scheduled blogging this week and I'll be catching up on your blogs shortly!

  1. That outfit is so chic! Love the jacket!

I love getting jewelry on Etsy, such unique finds! Plus having an Etsy shop myself, I like supporting other shops. :)

  2. Looove your outfit! Going to New York for New Year's is on my bucket list, looks like so much fun!

  3. what awesome trips! but i hear ya on being tired.

  4. Had I thought of it, we should have met up for lunch while you were up here! Duh!
Oh well, next time for sure!

P.S. Totally impressed with your mad tractor skills...

  5. LOVE this outfit! I especially love that you support Etsy shops (since I have one myself). :) Handmade is great! And you look great, as always. :)

  6. I'm glad to see that someone else's dog insists on being in photos. I love the fringed jacket, but the dog might be the cutest thing in the photos...haha.

  7. I am so happy for you, but insanely jealous at the same time. We didn't get to go to NYC this Christmas for the first time in years, and I missed it so much. Thanks for all the pictures. You got some really great ones!

  8. I adore that last country chic outfit picture! you always look so put together and fabulous, it's adorable to see you look slightly more rugged and put together and fabulous :)

  9. Love the pics! Happy 2012 Lisa!

  10. That jacket is great, and love those fun tights as well!

  11. Love the jacket! and that sweet little puppy too! Give him a smooch for me! :o)

  12. I love all your pictures of NYC and the farm!! (your looking super stylish even on the farm!!) And the GAP ponte dress is really cute!!

  13. Happy New Year! Glad you and the BF got to enjoy NYC. I'm loving that jacket you're wearing in the first NYC pic!!!

  14. Glad you had a good time! Love all your city photos, of course. And your syechelles shoes are adorable!

  15. LOL Lisa! Welcome back girl!!! I am loving the From NYC to The Country pics! HAHAHAHA You look great in both. Let's talk about that amazing outfit you're wearing up top! How gorgeous is your jacket and I love your shoes. You may not be able to afford LV, but let me tell you...YOU ALWAYS LOOK like you can. I know I've said it before, but your style is impeccable and exquisite. I always look forward to seeing what outfit you're wearing. Again, welcome back.

  16. I LOVE your tweed jacket, it looks so pretty on you!

Hope you had a great New Year my dear.

Please check out my blog for a review of V Nunes Jewelry, thanks ;)

  17. Good thing you got out of NYC because today was ridiculously cold (19 degrees!), like wind blowing in your face and cutting into your skin cold! But I love your LBD and your coat!

  18. Love your tweed jacket in the first couple of pictures. So cute! Not to mention your dog wanted to be included in the pic too. Mine always sneak in the pic when I have my camera on timer.

  19. Wow, you guys had a crazy holiday schedule! But it sounds like it was lots of fun. Hope you get some nice down time now :)

  20. Love your outfit, great start to 2012! And is that a Nick Cave Sound Suit I see?! Wasn't that a fantastic exhibit, Chris and saw it at the Seattle Art Museum :)

  21. Cute! I love your tweed jacket and your expression with your dog in the picture! so cute!

    <3 zoe

  22. Love your shoes in the first pic...so cute!

    The Other Side of Gray

  23. makeupandpearls - love the fam but going to see them really isn't a "vacation" in that relaxing, unwinding, peaceful sense, haha!

Eleanor - ooh, I've never met a fellow blogger before, that would've be awesome! I'll let you know next time I'm up there!

TheTinyHeart / Robyn - I am so addicted to Etsy - I could be on there for hours ...

Tara- totally agree, especially since I was apparently having a baaaaaaaaaad hair day, yikes! (Though, I can't beat out the pup for cuteness even on my best hair day, so who am I kidding, haha).

modernmom - I don't know I always insist on seeing the tree at Rockefeller each year - it looked like it was on its last legs when I saw it and the crowds were as usual, ridiculous! But I guess you gotta go with that state of mind!

Alex - haha, I think you meant "dirty." ;o) Good thing the country part was at the end of our trip - despite doing laundry, we were pretty much out of clean clothes by that time. But I think cows prefer us smelly.

Kim - aw, thanks! I've got more country pics but no one needs to see my awkwardly romping around in my $20 Walmart rubber boots (which were oh so comfy, btw ...)

Jenn - I have become such a cold chicken since living in the SE! I barely ever need a winter here, but up in NE, BF and I were freezing and sniffling through 30-degree weather while the locals are out bombing around with their necks bare, hair in the wind ...

skippysays - as much as I enjoy family and seeing everyone, going home is not really a relaxing time! ;o)

Liz - I must confess my ignorance on the origins on the artwork - it was part of the contemporary art exhibition at the Brooklyn Museum next to a giant metallic nude of a lady with a 'fro!

small town gal / Zoe_Flood - pup is a photo bomber and sometimes she can't be stopped!

  24. That outfit with the Boden jacket is pure perfection. Bravo!

  25. That outfit with the Boden jacket is pure perfection. Bravo!

  26. Looks like you had a great vacation!

Love the different textures of your outfit : )
