Dalmation Spotted

boulevard tunic

I love the ease of a shift dress, it's a one-piece insta-outfit and skims the body without being too form-fitting. However, as my booty grows (thanks, squats), they're starting not to fit me so well in the bottom area. So ... maybe I'll need to stick to fit-and-flare silhouettes from now on so I can keep it all contained.

Purple and Floral Favorites

hamatreya skirt

Except for the top which is fairly new, everything else are things from my closet that I adore and don't wear often enough for one reason or another (except the ring, you guys are probably tired of seeing the ring, which I luuuurrve and have no excuses to not wear). The print and flow of this skirt is amazing to me, but I strangely find it difficult to pair pieces with it. The bag fits everything I need and is just structured enough to hold its shape while being more casual - but it's purple. The shoes are comfortable and unique but the back zipper on one of them gets stuck sometimes, making them difficult to get off.

You ladies have any favorites in your closet that you adore but don't really wear that often for some odd reason or another?

Vertical and Horizontal

pink + blue stripes

Easy, preppy and comfortable - that's what I'm about for warmer weather dressing. And I adore Jack Rogers sandals, they're cute, they're look good on my feet, and they're fairly comfy right out of the box - except the smooth leather sole is like wearing slip'n slides on my feet when they're new because there is zero grip. And the light leather insoles mean toe imprints after wearing them a few times, which aesthetically really bugs me.

But they're also about half the price of those other symbols of preppy summer sandal-dom, the Tory Burch millers, and they come in like a million different colors. So I'll wear these on those days my desire to look cute outweigh my fear of sliding off to impending doom (seriously - walking on wet grass in Jacks are not recommended, people ...)

Textured Ivory

station sweater

I know it's the middle of summer, but sometimes you need to cover it up a little for those aggressively air-conditioned workplaces. I have a jacket and a few sweaters stowed away at my office just for that occasion, but don't need any additional layers with this chunky cotton knit on. No, I won't be spending an extensive amount of time outdoors with a big sweater on, but I try to limit my time outdoors during the southeast US summer anyways - lots of humidity = crazy asian hair so big there's no enough hairspray in the region to keep it down.

Green with Dots

green polka dots

I've never been much of a hat person before - because it's a difficult thing to find one that fits my apparently abnormally large noggin, for one - but it all kind of changed when I stumbled upon this hat at my local Target. It's big enough. In fact, it's a tad too large for my big head, which means it's perfect for me on extra hot frizz-haired days. If you've got a big head or just big hair, this hat is for you, ladies.

Now all that's left is a search for a pair of sunglasses wide enough ... #bigheadproblems.

Neutral Striped

striped neutrals

Furry Miss Pacey is making a rare guest appearance in this post, though most times she will just not have it when the paparazzi uh ... me are around. My cutie furball does not like to have her pic taken and will go from sweet and cheerful to grumpy pants the instant that she spots the gleam of a lens. But she was especially generous this time around - I was blocking the stairs - so Pacey decided to pause a moment during her very busy home goings-on to briefly greet me.

Have a lovely weekend, ladies - and for most of you, stay cool!

Tulips All Over

red, white, blue floral red, white, blue floral

Actual tulip season is long past over, but that was probably when I first bought this dress and I'm only now getting to wearing it. So yes, it means that 1) I have way too many things in my closet wardrobe black hole and 2) it's kind of closer fitting that I'm used to wearing, so I've got to catch myself on a fairly body confident day to want to try it on.

The print is just too pretty to keep in my closet though, plus it's busy enough to hide a number of carb-licious sins, so I sucked in my belly and tromped out of the house wearing the dress - along with some super-high heels. Let's face it, anything figure lengthening can never be a bad thing.
