Color Pigment

Taking a break from mixing print-on-print-on-print and enjoying some solids in fun saturated hues for spring. Thanks for colorful inspiration, Monling Lee. And I am looking forward to being able to wear this lightweight topper again, big ole YAY for the warmer weather.

Floral Sailor

stripes + lace

Boxy cropped tees, tanks and sweaters seem to be all the rage now, and I can't help but to like the look myself, especially those paired with a big frilly midi skirt and sky-high stiletto sandals. But ... as a stocky short person with no waist and an office job where baring midriff during staff meetings is likely frowned up, it's not a look that I can really pull-off.

So my way around it? Pair those boxy short tops with a longer underlayer which adds some interest to an outfit - and bonus points if that layer has some interesting frills or lace or crochet detailing to expose. On the lookout for more hemmed layering pieces right now!

Nothing Basic

If you've been following my blog or IG account for any period of time, you are well aware that I adore a good accessory. I'm likely one of those people who adds more things onto their outfit right before they leave the house. It takes a lot for me under-accessorize. But sometimes an outfit doesn't need a million patterns or a plethora of layers - or earrings and a necklace and an armful of bangles. Sometimes one sparkly piece and some basic closet staples are all that are needed to make a good outfit. And this takes a helluva lot less time to put together in the morning.

Preppy Winter Adieu

excursion vest + spots excursion vest + spots

The weather's been steadily getting warmer here in the Southeast, so I am thinking our colder days are behind us. So this is likely one of the last cold weather outfits I'll be wearing in early 2015. The J.Crew excursion vest (and its Factory store iterations) have served me well for over two winters now - I have four of these vests but I seriously wore them all the time during the cold months. Time to put them in the back of my closet and wait to break them out again in the fall (and wait to see what other fun new versions J.Crew comes out with).

Stripes on Stripes

I've seen a lot of lovely ladies on Instagram get some fab new spring hairdos lately, and as I am overdue for a cut and highlights, I am kind of itching for a change. I'm not quite sure what I want to do though - I veer towards wanting another angled bob, but it was such a pain for me to get my hair to behave when it was short. And of course, every time I go shorter, I get a major case of regrets whenever I see a gal with long loose curls or long braids. Because I do that kind of stuff to my hair all the time ... not. Sigh. The grass is always greener on the other side, right?

Pink and Grey

I thought it'd be fun to try these big cluster earrings as lapel pins this go-around and they worked like a charm (and added some extra sparkle to my outfit ... because me + shiny things = good). Now I'm on the hunt for other big ole statement studs that can work double duty - I think an emerald green pair would be a lovely addition. Time to go looking on Etsy and Ebay ...
