Black and Blue

professor blazer + drapey pants

I'm not usually this "formal" when it comes to every day office attire, but the cold weather has made layering a requirement. I wore my big coat over this ensemble to get to the office and my ole "boots with da fur" as well - sublimely unattractive mish mash but necessary with our recent bout of bitter cold and icy slush. I am totally one of those people who has extra pairs of shoes at the office (and maybe in the car too), but a girl's gotta do what she needs to when it comes to balancing practicality and wanting to be stylish, right?

Sunny Yellow Yesterdays

lexington blazer + rocksbox lexington blazer + rocksbox

There's nothing like freezing rain in February to be deceptively dangerous, so I'm staying snuggled in and toasty at home today - hair appointments, car registration renewals and anything requiring me traveling a further distance than to the front door will just need to wait. So here's an outfit from warmer, drier days - you know, like late January - just looking my bare ankles in these pics makes me shiver a bit right now!

Spring Dreaming

Between that holiday this weekend and just plain being over the cold, I guess I have flowers and the color red in the brain. I recently ordered this dress and am wishing it was warm enough to wear already, so here I am doing some outfit dreaming planning for better weather days. Here's me in a lady-like state of style mind.

Have a lovely weekend, ladies!

I'm a fan of the idea of Valentine's Day (coming up later this week), but you likely will not see me running around spreading glittered hearted chocolate bon-bonned lovey cheer. I'm more of a home-cooked dinner kind of gal, more so than a dozen roses, champagne and a hard-to-get restaurant reservation (gifts, though, are always appreciated bwahahaha).

The only real holiday-esque thing I do for the occasion is spend a few bucks and mail some Hallmark-branded cheer to my nephew, mom and grandma.

I don't necessarily dress for the occasion so I don't really have any great Valentine's styling for you all, but I pulled a few looks from "the archives" that give off a bit of that love day vibe without being too cutesy.

Old Favorites

wheel1

This outfit is made up entirely of oldies but real goodies from my closet. The navy gingham shirt that seems to go with everything; the sweater that fits in all the right places - plus it's got ship wheels on it, people; stretchy skinny jeans with a wee bit of distressing so I don't look too prepped out and buttoned-up; the pink blazer from my fave brand's heyday; and leopard print loafers that I can walk in for daaaaaayyyys. Plus a pretty necklace that was a gift from one of my fave people in the world.

These pieces make getting dressed way too easy and work together like a dream - the hardest thing for me is not to reach for them all the time (though I feel like I wear these awesome jeans at least twice a week - which probably makes them still awesome though slightly scuzzy, jeans).
