Buffalo Herringbone Moment

buffalo plaid + herringbone

Granted I've never actually seen another living soul wearing this vest, but the prevalence of the herringbone-printed vest online (I mean you, Instagram) sometimes makes me fear that I'll run into droves of herringbone puffer-vested gals as soon as I dare to take a step outside the house.

And of course, if we're heading out on that path of schizophrenic thinking, every single one of the hordes of women wearing my vest will all be taller, skinnier and look way more stylish in their versions than I ever could.

So it would make perfect (i,e., not perfect) sense that since buffalo plaid is having its "herringbone vest moment," I should feel the uncontrollable urge to wear both pieces together - thus increasing my chances infinity-fold of looking like every other fashionista on IG (but hey, great minds, you know) and still not running into another soul in either piece - though fearing it!

  1. This a great outfit, I love the striped turtleneck - ties everything together!

I divide my time between the upper east side of Manhattan and the East End of Long Island, and I haven't seen anyone wearing the herringbone vest either. Of course this may change now that you've shown how it should be worn. I'll watch for it.

  2. Hee, hee, hee Lisa. I have that same thought. OMG(!) J.Crew's (insert item here) sold out in a hot minute! And it's on all the fashion bloggers! Why isn't EVERYONE wearing this? Have a great Monday - Jennifer

  3. Ha! It may be ubiquitous online, but only you, my dear, have the style panache to make it work in RL! Pattern mixing at its finest!

  4. IG does make you feel like everyone is wearing the same thing....maybe we just all follow the same people. I've worn this combo too and adore it!

  5. LOL Right? Isn't it strange when you think about "everyone has ____!" and in reality . . . no one you know even knows that _____ is a thing?? I love this pairing though and I hope you continue to rock it--Instagram be dammed!

    1. When those bubble necklaces were really hot last year, they were ALL OVER the Internet but I only ever saw one other person (than myself, hehe) IRL wearing one. And of course we both wore ours at the same time to the same event ...

  6. Oh man, I have that same thought, but it's always about my red peacoat! You look so snug and warm though, I can't imagine a more comfy way to wear that vest!

  7. That's a good point--the herringbone vest is everywhere in blogland/Instagram, but I've only seen one person wear it in "real" life. Weird. The buffalo plaid/herringbone combo is pretty cute--you're making me want a buffalo plaid shirt now!
