The Cold Shoulder

cold shoulders cold shoulders

You ladies know that I am normally not shy about loading my arms up with bracelets, but there's something really easy about wearing one statement piece that does away with having to coordinate a half dozen jingling jangling bits on my wrist.

I first got the pink version of this bracelet and adored it so much that I had to order the more neutral color-way as well. I personally have no problems with buying multiples of the same item in different hues - if something just works, then why not?

This dress, however, I got a loooooong time ago and this is the first time I've worn it. I saw it online, loved it on the product model, ordered it, then pondered if the whole skater-silhouette-with-shoulder-cut-outs deal would be too young. This dress is def too casual to be work-appropriate, but I guess a little peek at the shoulders is a non-prob for a fun evening out.

  3. Cute dress! :) Really like your scarf with it, the print and pom poms is so nice with the LBD :) And that's a very pretty bracelet, I can see why you bought it in another colour!

  6. Lisa! That dress is stunning on you. The shoulder cut-outs are so sexy, but in a subtle, ladylike way... I don't think it looks too young at all, I think it looks like something Audrey Tautou would wear. Tres chic!

Also, serious scarf envy is happening here. I keep seeing you with items from this "Joe Fresh", and I just have to ask, where is he on the fashion food chain? Is he on par with Old Navy, or with J.Crew, or perhaps somewhere in the middle, like UniQlo (which I refer to as the "poor man's J.Crew")? ;)

    1. I think Joe Fresh is probably on par with Gap, though the Canadians tell me that they sell Joe Fresh in supermarkets, so maybe it's more Old Navy/Target - but in the few shops JF has in the states, the pricing is def a bit pricier than ON/Target ... so this is a whole lot of babble to say I really have no idea ...

  9. You could always layer a blazer or soft jacket over the dress for another work-appropriate look :)

  10. Oh Lisa, this dress is not too young. It is very sophisticated on you. I like it better without the scarf covering up your shoulders. Show 'em off! It's an elegant look!

    1. It felt weird at first because I've never been one to try the whole cutouts trend - but it's like being covered up without being covered up if that makes any sense!

  17. OK, I ordered basically the twin version of this dress in Gray but I hated the fit on me. It is quite the cute dress - just it didn't work out for me. I am loving your scarf though.
