It's August Already

olmeda skirt

And just like that it's August. And in the SE, the kiddies will all be going back to school soon which is always a bit weird for me, because who goes back to school in the middle of summer? I know, I know, everyone's school year is different. But sorry, guys, I grew up in the NE and we didn't start school until after Labor Day and the year didn't end until late June, so that's just the "right" way to do things in my mind.

  1. I can not believe it's august! it goes far too fast, and I agree, should should be an after labor day start.
Love your printed pencil skirt, it's got such a stunning pattern!

  2. That is still one of my very favorite skirts. I am sad I missed out on it.
I get so angry when I see " Back to School" stuff out the end of July, but than I remember that some kids DO go back so early in August. It just isn't right...

  4. Skirt--AMAZING. :)

So my sister-in-law is in GA and she and her kiddoes go back in early August. I agree, it is criminal and so so hot.

VA is a solid start after Labor Day state, *but* a lot of people don't like it and want to start earlier. Weird.

My kids go back the last week of August, though, because Catholic Schools can have their own schedule. We also get out earlier (early/mid-June) and we have a few more days off during the year. I think they are able to do that because they count instructional "minutes" rather than days. Whatever. I like getting my kids home more. ;)

  5. I think it's really early or really late that most people are going back to school. Not the day after Labor Day when I was in school!

Love the printed pockets on your shirt!

  6. In my day too, but I know around these parts, they moved up the start dates to accommodate testing. And quite frankly, I voted for it too. Rather be in an a/c-ed classroom than sweltering in my own house any day!

That combo you're wearing is perfection, btw! :D

  7. That skirt is gorgeous! Love the print!

Here in Australia school only gets a 2 week break in June - as our summer break is over December! :)

  8. I remember when I was a kid in Florida starting school in the middle of August. It didn't seem right when I was doing it way back then. And speaking of Florida - I am loving the orange and blue! I went to the University of Florida and am always drawn to that color combo.Such a pretty skirt and clutch!

  9. I just heard about kids in some places going back to school already! It's very strange to me too as we have the same school year that you are used to! Love the pattern on the skirt and the blouse is the perfect anchor to the look! As usual you look amazing!

  12. Lisa, once again I am an enthusiast of your artful combinations. The skirt is gorgeous, in that lovely pattern and I just love the blouse. It is a shame your children have to go back to school so early in the season!I hope you will enjoy august just the same!

  13. How fun! I love how there are fake pockets on your shirt! I think it totally adds an artistic look to your overall outfit:) Anyway, for all of my life with the exception of living in IN for 2 years, I had the same system. Out in late June, back after Labor Day. But now, I'm off to college so my usual summer is cut very short!
