Pajamas through the Daytime

You gals have patiently listened to me blather on about my move for the past few weeks now and I'm happy to say that I'm settling in nicely. However, new town, new house, means having to find a whole new routine for myself. Like finding the local branch of my bank, figuring out the easiest way to get to the supermarket or locating a neighborhood bakery I like.

And dealing with a whole new work routine too. My company doesn't have a facility where I am now, just a satellite office that I only need to go part-time. So I spend a few days working from home and a few with new co-workers. Which means I technically really only need to get dressed a few days out of each week.

Nice in theory, right? Well, part of the reason I even started my blog way back when was at the time I was working full-time from home. Which meant I spent too many days in sweats or my robe, sometimes walking to the mailbox in the afternoons with my hair still uncombed and wearing the same clothes I slept in. I was sloppy. And style blogging was a way to make sure I got dressed for real each day.

So I find myself kind of afraid of sliding back into that same ole not getting dressed hole. Granted I care a whole lot more about fashion in general now (and have a whooooole loooooott more stuff in my closet), but don't see the purpose of sporting a jumbo rhinestone necklace or point-toed heels just to stay in the house all day. I guess we all better get ready to see a more casual Lisa (at least part-time).

But if you start seeing me sporting PJs through the daytime, tell me to cut it out! Yes, the irony of my typing that line with this particular outfit on is not lost on me.

  1. If I worked at home full-time, there would be no hope, I would be wearing pyjamas all day, every day. There would be no point to my closet, I wouldn't need to shop except for leggings and oversized T-shirts (all knits, all the time), I wouldn't need to buy makeup... Sometimes I think it would be nice to work at home, but maybe not for that. I guess the key is to be casual but not sloppy? I don't know if I'd be able to do that.

Love the shorts (I got the factory pencil skirt in that print), and it may be a pyjama stripe but it doesn't look like it.

    1. Back when I worked from home, I felt like I got more work done because I didn't have office distractions. I've got a whole office set aside away from the rest of the house, so hopefully I won't get too distracted with home stuff.

  4. I think you look cute and the prints are so pretty. It doesn't LOOK like pajamas, so it still counts as regular clothes.

  5. I'm working part time now too and have a newborn . . . I don't find near the need (or desire to be honest . . .) for the high spiked heels I donned before. But it is refreshing to get dressed in general! You look great in this pattern mixed look Lisa! Glad you're settling in!

  6. I say embrace your inner SoCal girl and create outfits around Chucks and skater skirts. Oh, wait! That's me! Lol. But really, Chucks are the bomb and I'd love to see what you do with more casual ensembles. Looking forward to the next Lisa phase!

  7. This is an adorable outfit Lisa! Casual or otherwise you know how to style any look! During the summer I don't work, so I understand how easy it is to get lulled into just sitting around in pajamas all day or dressing really casual.

  8. Great outfit. You look so comfy yet chic. I'm not sure I would ever get dressed if I worked at home either. I'm excited to see what you come up with. Have a great weekend!

    1. When outfit posts start degrading down to jean shorts, sloppy tees and flip flops, please say something, haha!

  9. I know exactly how you feel--I don't get an office until the fall as a graduate student, so I've been doing all my work at home. Sometimes it's tempting to just stay in lounge pants all day!

  10. I love pajamas! And I hope to spend all day in mine tomorrow. I think it will be awesome for you part time. You have the best of both worlds, plus your new coworkers have not seen any of your clothes! Score! It will be so much more exciting to dress knowing no one has seen it. And I love your outfit and it was awesomely ironic in the best most chicest way.

  11. Oh my gosh those shorts are adorable! They remind me of Florida - which I love! I work from home and find myself in the same comfy-type clothes day in and day out. The good thing is that my dressier clothes last a long time and I buy less. Glad to hear that you are all settled in you new place!

  12. I love this look! I work a lot from home and have gotten in the bad habit of wearing sweats...

  13. oh I feel your struggle! Life with baby means I'm tempted to wear PJs all day every day! I'm trying to get out the house even if it's just to walk the dog, so that I get dressed! Of course, some days just call for staying inside in PJs and never leaving the house - but I'm hoping I have less of those days as baby grows!

    1. I left the dog out in the mornings in my PJs though I really shouldn't. I haven't met all my neighbors yet, I shouldn't have my potential first meeting be with me in jammie pants and crazy morning hair!

  14. I'm with you on getting more work done at home without the distractions. I say wear the sweats on the days that you are at home and treat the days you go into the office as your "blog outfit" days. I'm glad you are all settled in. Love that top.

  15. Well if you wear pajamas like that I think you're safe from frump-ville for sure! I love this cute, funky mix. And I'm now completely convinced I need a pair of pull-on shorts!

    2. oh gosh... what a lot of stress! Working in advertising has forced me to manage some small events too. And I hate it. It is of course a great profession, but when you hate deadlines and stress, events are not your thing. There is sooo much to do at the last minute. So many things don't go the way you want them to go... Cannot handle it. Sad thing (for me) is that advertising holds quite a few deadlines too. But usually I can controll those better.
Lovely job though (if you are stress resistant LOL).
