Berry Cool

berry  berry

This is what I wore last week when it was actually warm in the SE. This week? Well, I probably shouldn't complain considering most of the rest of the country is bundled up under several inches of snow or freezing rain, but having lived in the southern half of the States for the last few years has made me a little soft to cool weather.

So temps in the 40s this week which I know is not even that cold - except it is has me layering like crazy, turning the inside heat up, clasping mugs of hot tea, breaking out the fuzzy Uggs, sleeping in leggings, even trying wooly sweaters on my 50lb dog - hey, I'm not the only one that gets cold around here. What's got my vote right now for possible best invention ever? Electric blankets.

 Stay warm, ladies!

    1. Did you like it? I didn't think much of it online, but saw it in-store then couldn't stop thinking about it. I think this will be my go-to necklace for the holidays!

  2. Aaaahhh! I love this outfit so much!! I gotta dig out my own berry wool skirt and then wear my purple cardigan backwards to copy you haha! Seriously super cute. And hey, I get you about the cold. I'm from Norway, and I still can't handle it when the temperature dips even a little bit. We are flying off to Berlin for the weekend and although it's only minus 2 Celsius I am bringing the warmest sweater I own, a massive UniQlo coat and snowboots! ;)

  3. Hmm 40F is 4 degrees so to me that's kind of cold yes! It was 11 degrees today when I got in the car and the whole way to work I was marvelling at how mild it is.... I like double figures (unless they are minus double figures in which case mother nature can suck it)

  4. Love the pop of the leopard print shoes.

I'm an absolute baby about the cold too. It's barely in the 50's here and I'm already bringing out all my thermal shirts and fleece-lined leggings (though in my defense, 50's in Hanoi is pretty damn cold. Elementary schools are closed if it gets below 50.)

  8. I am entirely in love with your outfit. Those colours are fabulous together, and the leopard print pumps and glitzy necklace make it perfect.

What is the JCF merino sweater like? I have been thinking of ordering one (JC has just opened in London, but obviously doesn't carry those sweaters!). I love the shape but am cautious of ordering something trans-Atlantically when I can't handle it myself.

    1. Hi Phillippa - I would equate the factory charley sweaters to the retail tippi ones, though I find the merino tippis that come out in the cooler months to be a wee bit thicker than the merino charley sweaters. The lighter hues can be a bit sheer and because it is a lighter weight sweater, lumpy underlayers will show, but it comes in a bunch of colors and I light it as an easy piece to wear while traveling because I can throw a blazer or big cardigan over it and be fine. I hope this helps!

  9. I'd kill for 40 degrees right about now! Yesterday was only 28 degrees and tomorrow we're getting another round of snow/sleet/rain.

I love the jewel tone colors you're wearing, so pretty!

  10. Absolutely LOVE this outfit! The colors together are perfect & I love the pop of leopard.

40 is definitely still cold (although I would love to hit 40 right about now). The worst part for us though is this disgusting inversion that traps all the smog in the valley & it just sits there & doesn't go anywhere. It's absolutely awful & definitely the worst part of winter in the Salt Lake valley.

Have a great weekend! Stay warm!

  26. Yes! Electric blankies are way better 'n sliced bread! Legging under jeans, faux Uggs from Payless, and even wearing a hat to bed have all happened to, er, a friend.

These colors are so restful. I never get tired of looking at your J. Crew necklaces - such perfect bling!
