Like Country Time Lemonade

collar  collar

Hey ladies! I hope you all had a good time this weekend - can you believe it's already September?

I had a pretty laid back time myself with the long weekend (Labor Day in the States). We went to visit friends and fam in TN and had some good time by the water, played with animals, ate more than our share, watched football, NASCAR, and even got a bit of hay baling in.

My area of expertise when it comes to farming though, has probably most to do with finding shade

Top: ModCloth lace share (worn here - solid, knit, sleeved)
Jeans: ON sweetheart distressed skinny (reg, sim, sim)
Belt: J.Crew factory wide calf (sim, sim)
Bracelets: J.Crew (sim), Target (sim), C.Wonder pave initial (enameled)
Shoes: Zara cap-toe court (worn here - sim, round, strapped, slingback)
Bag: Rebecca Minkoff trompe l'oeil MAC (worn here - the original, sim tote)

country time
Kind of pastoral, isn't it. Cutting hay to make into bales to feed the cattle in the winter.

country time
Lazy baby bull.

country time  country time
Old school tractor. Still works! / Pup and Lisa in the country - a bit of Green Acres vibe for a city-bred gal like myself, but I was all booted and suited!

country time
It's only polite to bring cupcakes wherever you go.

country time
I made a new friend ... OK, after initially freaking out. I'm not a fan of bugs!

country time  country time
Homemade bread and butter pickles, my favorite kind. / Fur baby.

country time
Pretty field before mowing.

country time
Pup wants in?

country time
Tried my hand at some healthier fried rice - sub cauliflower for the rice (for realz!) Turned out surprisingly tasty, but obviously everyone could tell they weren't eating rice. I used this recipe as a base, but added my own mixings.

  1. I'm not genned up on state abbreviations, where is TN? Tennessee?! Love the first hay picture, it looks quite British :)

    1. Haha, sorry, LS! Yes, TN is for Tennessee. My biggest surprise from that day is that I wasn't allergic to hay with all the mowing, raking and baling going on around me.

    2. He he it's ok, I don't think we learnt abbreviations at school that's all. I google mapped it so now have more of an idea as my US geography is woeful :)

    1. Yes, I live in the SE. But going "to the country" is new for a gal who grew up in NYC. There are a lot of bugs. Loads.

Love your photos too - makes me want to escape this office building... LOL

  4. Love the Modcloth lace top--how do you find Modcloth stuff to hold up? Does it fall apart the first time you wash it? The only things I've bought from them are the Eva Franco dresses they carry but I'm definitely into a lot of their lower priced offerings, just afraid to bite cause returns have to be done online...

    1. I only own two tops from ModCloth and both I dry clean. I've worn this piece a handful of times and so far it's been OK, I'm actually surprised I haven't snagged this top on more things. I'd say this piece is better than F21 or H&M quality - it's probably on par with a nicer Zara piece?

  8. Looks like you had a great time! I've been using cauliflower for rice for sometime now. I have never really been a rice fan so I don't miss it at all. I love my noodles and have been using zucchini noodles now.

  15. Yay countryside! My favourite picture is probably the one with the butterfly, that's just beautiful! And your pup, awww, did she jump in the water in the end? Our old dog did that once, and kind of freaked himself out - like he couldn't believe he'd actually jumped in the water. It was so fricking cute. :)

Anyways, your outfit is pretty darn rad! That top really stands out, but it's the little details like that leopard belt that just make me go "wow"! Such a stylish "city girl"! :)

Also, I want that cupcake with the carrot on it. It was carrot flavour, right? ARGH, I'm hungry now! ;)

    1. My pup loves the water but she's too chicken to just jump. She likes to go to the edge of the shore and just get her feet wet on the rocks. Now if there was a nice easy slope into the water, she'd be all over that!
