Blue Lighthouses

blue lighthouse  blue lighthouse

I can’t believe we’re more than halfway through April already, time just seems to be flying by. I feel like this year I am ill-prepared for the arrival of warmer weather – most of my tees and lighter clothes are wrinkled masses on the bottoms of my drawers, I am still afraid to show my toes because I haven’t had a pedi in forever, and I’ve just started to break out the self-tanner so I can get some color on my legs. Can’t you tell how bronze and sleek my legs look already, ha.

I kind of miss the days of being a kid when April meant spring break from school and being taken out to get fresh clothes for the warmer weather. Back then I would have much rather been outside running the block with my friends on sunny days than play dress-up, but it felt special to be able to get new things just for me to wear and to get all this attention lavished on me by my mom and big sis.

What do you typically do to prep yourself for warmer weather? What do you enjoy about spring?

  1. Ha ha prep myself for warmer weather?! That's funny. The night before we went to Dubai I painted my toenails and shaved my legs. Sadly I don't have time anymore to begin the prepping-body-for-warmer-weather process in February, scrubbing and buffing, tanning and moisturising. I read about it in magazines in between bathing the baby and making the dinner thinking "I really ought to do that". Lol! :-)

  4. hmm... we get our best weather in sept/october so we still have a ways to go. i do put away the majority of my heavy coats though! and often purchase new t shirts/basics that have worn out.

  5. Lisa I'm loving this outfit! Simple but beautiful. Maybe it's the bright blue that's drawing me in and reminding me that yes, Spring is finally here!!

  6. The fabric pattern on that skirt looks adorable.

Spring preparations are normally dropping a minimum of 5 lbs, using copious amounts of self tanner, getting a pedi/foot makeover and actually wearing some of my great summer dresses outside of the house in the real world. That is all a mute point though if Spring and Summer decide not to show up this year. Since we are expecting SNOW again this weekend I'm not in a rush to get any of this started yet. Instead I will pile on my sweats and sweaters and add a few extra carbs to my diet. I think this is called "lack of Spring" induced depression.

    1. Ah yes, losing a few pounds for warmer weather. That's been on my to-do list for oh, several months now ...

  7. Love the color of the tee! I'm obsessed with their tissue tees right now. Got a few 'Vintage' tees from ON that are very similar too. Also, I love that you paired this with leopard heels. So much more fun than a solid!

Speaking of Spring....I'm just praying it'll actually get here. We're still in the 20s in the a.m.!

  9. I am passing by the CUUUUUTEST sweaters in Gap, J.Crew, ON, etc., because spring here only means the temps aren't in the 90's yet :/ Still too hot and humid. And THAT is my first indicator that I am fully spring-ified.

    I love that skirt--so cute!!!

  10. Ok, first of all, that skirt is adoooorable! Love love the print. Second, this shade of blue looks so good on you! Third, well where I live its pretty much hot all year long, but now we are entering the rainy season! I like the rain, so I am happy to have cooler weather (aka= a little less hot, but still hot... haha).

  11. That skirt is gorgeous as is the whole outfit. I don't know that I really prep for warmer weather since I live in South Alabama where we have barely had a winter for the past two years. Do you take styling requests? I have an Anthropologie skirt that I would love to get your opinion on how to style.

    1. Absolutely, I'd be thrilled to help and offer some advice, Rachel. I'm no expert for sure, but I adore playing dress-up, my clothes or someone else's!

  17. Hi Lisa :o),

I wish you a nice spring :)!I don't really enjoy spring or summer.I'm more of an autumn and winter lady :)... But,liking it or not,the warm weather brings with it the light clothes and so some more attention to taking care of our body is a must.I like to take long walks during this period. It does wonders for a glowing skin.
Anyway, today I came to your blog, because I wanted to tell you that in the past two weeks I've been going quite a bit through the shops in the search of some new shoes.I had in my mind the ones your wearing with this outfit.Again,an anusual combination, but so super cool! And all through my escapades to the shops I had in my mind: If Lisa can,I can :))... You see, you're an inspiration to me.
    I still haven't found such shoes,but I will.I must ;)!

    Have a great weekend...

  20. Cute skirt! I don't really prep for warmer weather other than switching out the sweaters for my regular shirts and tees. I'm not one to care too much about my nails so no mani/pedi for me. ;)

  29. Longer days and bright cheerful colors are what I look forward to in spring. You are looking the vision of springtime in this outfit.

My legs are always pasty, which is probably why I hardly ever wear a skirt except when cool enough for tights. ;)

  30. Loving your skirt, Lisa! It's so unique and whimsical. Mother Nature can't seem to make up her mind. The weather was in the high 80s last week and it was in the 30s when I walked out this morning. Brrr! Hope you enjoy your week.
