One Cool Cat

Hey ladies, please check me out today on Franziska's blog! She has featured me in her Behind the Blog series - thanks again, girl, I'm so flattered!

♠    ♠    ♠    ♠

I know I spent yesterday's post talking about the need to do something with my wardrobe so I can give all my clothes a fair shake at being worn - and thanks for all your organization tips, ladies, btw - so in my attempt at being a sartorial egalitarian, I probably shouldn't talk about favorites from my closet.

Meaning my entire outfit today.

mint & camel  mint & camel

Like this jacket, which is perfect for the mild SE winters and has shiny gold buttons to boot (plus it makes me feel kind of tough - OK, tough in that I-have-a-white-collar-job-and-like-to-eat-lunch-at-Panera-Bread-while-sipping-ice-green-tea-through-a-straw kind of way). Or these pumps, which are new, but are officially unofficially my favorite pair of animal print shoes because of the pointed toe, bow detail and loads of insole padding. This sweater, which is my favorite winter-appropriate pastel shade - and has sparkles. The necklace, which goes with pretty much everything. The skirt, which is nubbly wool warm, in a classic shape and neutral colors - but it's colorblocked, so bam, it's contemporary.

I can't help but loving all these pieces, so I had to gather them together into an outfit. So be prepared to see these guys under different guises again and again pretty soon. And to all the other clothes in my closet waiting to be worn - I still love you guys, I'll be back soon. At least it's warm in there!

What are some of the favorite pieces from your closet that you find yourself reaching to wear again and again?

  1. I find myself wearing my red pants a lot, there are days when I have to make myself wear something else.

I love your sweater and it looks amazing with that necklace. Wish it was mild enough here for a mild jacket, I'm freezing my butt off!

  2. I love your leopard shoes today...they are super cute. I've been wearing both my red jeans and royal blue jeans like they are going out of style. I reach for them more than my regular blue jeans. It's still pretty warm down here in Florida, so I'm not wearing too many jackets these days.

    1. I need to get some bright blue jeans - I got a pair from Loft way back when but they stretched out so badly after one wear, they were ridiculous!

  3. Great interview! She asked some great questions & I loved your answers. Today's look is fabulous. I tend to reach for my skinny jeans way too much. Sometimes I have to force myself into pants or a skirt.

  6. Lisa, we both seem to have a thing for shoes with bows. :)
I love everything about this outfit so I totally understand why you love it so much too. My most recent post featured all my favorites, the black and white sweater I got from Madewell is something I'm constantly tempted to wear.

  14. Again, another fab outfit! I love the leopard heels (still regretting of not buying a pair that I saw from a shoe store *sad face*) haha- recently, I've been reaching out my F21 skirts. They are so comfy and it goes with everything.Unfortunately, I have only 2 pieces, black and blue so I just alternately use them :)

  15. Oh those shoes! Swoon! They are definitely fabulous. This whole look is perfect on you, though! :)

I would say my favorite go-to pieces are my denim blazer (bought at a boutique in Madrid), my wedge, cognac, knee-high boots and my Marc by Marc Jacobs watch(es).

  16. Ok I love your new animal print shoes! But I also forgot to mention in your last post--have you ever heard of the app called Stylebook? I got it for my iPad and I LOVE it. It's like the software on Clueless, but much more sophisticated. It takes a while to get all your clothes loaded on there but after that it is very easy to navigate and see what you have and create outfits. You can even add in an inspiration folder where I keep magazine cutouts and some Pins.

  23. I have this skirt and I love it. It's perfect.

  24. I also reach for my field-type jacket time and time again (even when it's not weather appropriate), and I'm thinking of investing in the J Crew one this year - did you find it true to size?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I think the field jacket runs a smidge large, but it's got waist tabs on the sides to make the waist appear more fitted, plus it's great for layering. I am typically a 2/2P and got this in a XS. I probably could have fit the XXS, but then I couldn't have layered. I think order your reg size if you plan on any layering - plus it doesn't look bad even if you just have one thing on underneath. If you can try the jacket on, I'd say reach for your size and one below just to compare. Hope this helps!

  26. I love Panera's Green Tea. I'ma join a motorcycle gang next...lol.

Lisa, you're sort of magic when combining separates. I don't know why I love these pieces together so much, except that the combination has a super clean aesthetic and also seems soothing, like fish. Well, okay, maybe it's weird to find fish soothing, but I do.

I've gotten so many awesome pieces from GW Boutique lately, it's hard to pick a fave, but I keep reaching for dresses. I like to get dressed all in one go :P

  27. I think the best part about wearing favorites is seeing how many ways you can wear them! While I understand wanting to get more use out of other pieces, there's nothing wrong with going to your favorites :)

  48. That color sweater is beautiful and looks absolutely gorgeous on you. And sparkles! I definitely have closet favorites too, but mine are more about weather-appropriateness. Like I love my boring black tights that are 100 dernier because even in Scotland on the wintery days, I don't feel the wind through those things. Not something necessary when I lived in the SE though ;) Very jealous of your bare legs... in JANUARY!

Your attempts to be a closet egalitarian are really admirable - I should really try the same, but I definitely have pieces that are my favourites and then, well, the rest of my closet that I mix in occasionally :) And who could blame a girl? After all, your favourits are all gorgeous, and they go perfectly together besides! I love the combination of turquoise and camel, it's just too pretty!
