A Little Luck and Pinch of Calm

Hey ladies - this is what I wore recently during some unusually warm late December days in the SE. I definitely am not complaining! Unless these are just the last few beautiful days before The (supposed) End, tick tick tick ...

Provided we make it past Friday, I'm planning to head up to the NE to be with my fam for the holidays. As I've mentioned before, my fam is pretty low-key when it comes to holidays, but we never miss an excuse to gather and eat eat eat. And exchange gifts. And do what has become a tradition for us "kids" - after Christmas dinner, my dad gives us each an envelope with assorted lottery scratchers. We spend the hour digesting and (hopefully - but so far not yet) scratching away those little tickets to the promise of endless thousands. My BIL has been the luckiest these past few years and I, unfortunately, have been pretty consistent with getting the short end of the scratcher stick.

And since I typically have no luck with increasing my fortune financially in a sudden state-sponsored windfall, I spend a bit of time during that wonderful limbo week between Christmas and New Year's contemplating how I am going to better myself come January. Eating better and starting a new exercise routine typically rank high for me, though I suck at follow-through. Being a calmer person will also rank high on my list for 2013 - I've had some new situations crop up this year that tested my patience and have surprised myself with my (bad) reactions to them. If others are causing chaos around me, it is up to me not to play into that - so, I guess, Om's the word.

Are you ladies have any holiday traditions you always look forward to? Have you already worked out you resolutions for 2013 - and are you a resolutions keeper or breaker?

  1. I am loving that top and you have to give me those shoes. The color is just perfection.

We don't have any major traditions other than to eat eat eat as well. I definitely love that part. :) Oh, and gifts are always nice. I love the that your father gives you all scratch tickets. Hopefully, this will be your year.

I tend to make a few resolutions, but they don't generally stick. One year I made a resolution to cook a new dish/try a new recipe each month and that lasted around March. My new resolution is to make better resolutions, lol.

  2. Love everything about this outfit! We always open one gift on Christmas Eve, eat monkey bread or challah French toast for breakfast, and have tons of little traditions we build upon every year.

  7. I loooooooove those shoes!! Love the pretty sequins too.

One tradition we had growing up was my brother & I would open our gifts to each other on Christmas Eve. We'd also drive around as a family & look at Christmas lights the night before too. I try to carry on the driving around tradition with my hubby but it's usually too damn cold to think about going outside. I got really spoiled by growing up in San Diego... :)

  18. the stripy top with sequins is fantastic, right up my street as the saying goes. No resolutions here, I don't set them typically but seeing as I've signed up to another marathon I'll just be hoping to train well and stay injury free.

  20. Love the shoes! And I'm like you, I'm going to kick my ass in gear and get into shape again. I've been so lazy the last few months. I won't put any pressure on myself to keep this resolution, I'll just think about how I want to look in a bathing suit come summertime :)

  37. Love that top! I'm not big on resolutions. I do like that this is a time of 'new beginnings' but I don't like to put a lot of pressure on myself. So, I will try to work towards my goals, without making myself feel like a failure if they don't happen right away.

I hope you are enjoying this holiday weekend. Happy Holidays!!!
