Which is silly, right? Because honestly all that most people know about me on blogdom is really what I choose to share.
You ladies all know Blogger Lisa. And granted I think Blogger Lisa and
Everyday Lisa are pretty similar, you're still stuck seeing me with a
seven second delay.
So in the interest of sharing, here's just a bit of Everyday Lisa that I don't think you ladies know about from Blogger Lisa:
I spent much of my youth drawing and painting and had aspired to be a comic book artist for some years (think X-Men or Batman type comics, not The Peanuts).
I am pretty sure I am tone deaf - I tried out for chorus in high school and it was no bueno.
I'm a leftie and use that as my excuse when I sometimes have trouble telling my lefts from my rights.
I have the mouth of a trucker. There is no lewd word or phrase I haven't been known to use, and yes, I sometimes I can't keep my trap closed enough even in front of kids.
I don't like chocolate - except hot chocolate, Mint Milanos, Junior Mints, fudge, and Milk Duds - so maybe I do like chocolate? But def not chocolate chip cookies. Well, unless they're big and soft and cake-y.
I admittedly do shop, shop, shop, but am too cheap to upgrade most of my technology.
For someone with a style blog and who posts pics of myself all over the web, I am actually a pretty reserved person and don't like any sort of fuss being made about me.
I love the look of pencil skirts with high heels, but I still feel like a
bull in a china shop when I wear them. Going up and down the stairs -
still pretty comical to watch me, especially if I am in a rush.
I am such a klutz - no, wait, that's not very surprising, is it?
I love watching shows about food, but I definitely don't cook as often as I should. And if it is a show or episode I particularly enjoy, I can watch reruns ad nauseum, no joke.
I took four years of high school Spanish and four semesters of college French. And no, I can't speak the languages.
I sometimes do the (evil) silent laugh - i.e., shoulders shaking and big mouth smiling, but no sound - and finish it off with a snort. That part's usually pretty audible.
What are some things about yourself that people who read your blog would never guess about you?
Blazer: Cartonnier by Anthropologie hello sunday (worn here - sim, sim, cas, pricey)
Top: J.Crew factory printed popover (sim, sim, w/bow, sleeveless)
Skirt: J.Crew double-serge No.2 pencil (worn here - sim, sim, sim)

Bracelets: J.Crew wildflower (worn here - sim, pricey) & Asos (sim)
Bag: Rebecca Minkoff trompe-l'oeil MAC (worn here - the original, sim, quilted)
Sunglasses: Target
And for no other reason than suddenly I am all about the dots, here I am in this spotted shirt again:
Sweater: ON boatneck (worn here - sim, reversed colors, pink cardi)
Top: J.Crew factory printed popover (sim, sim, w/bow, sleeveless)
Jeans: Levi's 545 (worn here - sim, sim, sim)
Shoes: Aerosoles (worn here - sim, luxe, steal)
Necklace: F21 twisted rhinestone (worn here - sim, metal, gold)

Great post, Lisa! Hmm, what would people never guess about me from reading my blog? I love having long complicated conversations with little kids!
ReplyDeleteIs it weird that you are one of the few bloggers that are a daily read that I feel like I would be fast friends with in real life?(especially now that I know you cuss like a trucker!)
ReplyDeleteI'm clumsy(and usually sporting bruises of unknown origin), I have a wildly inappropriate sense of humor, I'm addicted to crime procedural shows and I'm a political news junkie.
Well we do have event planning backgrounds, though your path is way more creative than mine!
DeleteI adore this outfit! It was fun learning more about you, I LOVE heels and i am a huge klutz myself :)
ReplyDeletecreamyclothes.blogspot.com
I adore both of these outfits! You look so cute in polka dots!
ReplyDeleteIt's so true that you can feel like you know someone by reading what they've written, but I don't think that that is just true of the blogging world. I feel the same way about some of my favorite authors, and even though we sometimes exclude information about ourselves our writing tells more than just our words. Something about me--I am an aspiring writer who has never completed a novel, and I wear makeup about 15% of the time and don't mind not having it at all, but I rarely will take pictures without makeup on.
ReplyDeleteI aspired to be a writer through high school and college - then I realized I didn't have the talent to make it and had to earn a living. Ah well, blogging is like writing in a sense, isn't it?
Deletei totally hear your "voice" in your posts. i love that your posts always make me think and want to comment. i also have....er, had....a trucker mouth. having a two year old has helped with that. i have also on more than one occasion written a rant/negative post and deleted it because it just came off as too negative. but we all have our days. i am actually considering a post re: a negative comment i received. for the most part, mean comments do not bother me...but this one got my blood boiling. so yeah...while i am very "me" on my blog...my thoughts are edited.
ReplyDeletexoxo, jenn
the stylish housewife
I always feel like most negative comments should be ignored, why pander to the hateful people - however, I think if someone made it a point to get a blogger riled up, a blogger has more than enough reason to fire back and defend themselves. I don't know why some people bother to hate-comment - having a difference in opinion is one thing, but why be mean for the sake of it?
DeleteI know what you mean about getting to know people through their blogs, and even though it's an edited version of them, you still can relate.
ReplyDeleteI would have never guessed you don't feel graceful in your heels, you don't look it at all.
Chic on the Cheap
Hehe, you'd realize if you heard me clomping down the hallway! ;o)
DeleteIsn't it crazy? I think about this too. I wonder what the person would be like in real life if we hung out--would it be like reuniting with an old friend or like meeting someone brand new? I am not fortunate to live in a style blog ridden area, so I've never been to a meet up or anything. I love all your random facts. I guess something that may or may not surprise people about me IRL is that I have two piercings other than my ears, I love baseball and I was a vegetarian for many years. I love your stripes and spots today Lisa! This was a very interesting post! I love it!
ReplyDeleteI was a vegetarian for a year during college ... then my lust for meat unfortunately(?) won out!
DeleteI have that Anthro blazer and wear it often. I love the way you've paired it with a vibrant color
ReplyDeletei'm actually kinda shy. i went to an all girls high school and attribute much of my social awkwardness to that ;)
ReplyDeletei have a potty mouth.
i don't really spend money on beauty items but i do love manis and pedis.
love both of these outfits!
I love manis and pedis myself - which reminds me, I need to go get one!
DeleteI love your pencil skirt/heels combo! I also love reading the interesting things about you! I do the same thing with blogs I read often...begin to feel like I know the author personally!
ReplyDeleteOMG this list made me love you so much more! You have quickly become one of my top favorite bloggers.
ReplyDeleteI took 3 years of Spanish and 3 years of German, and I can only speak a few words of each. I too have foul mouth syndrome. I blame it on the fact that both of my parents were sailors, which apparently are known for their foul mouths too. Try as I might...the words just fall outta my mouth.
One thing you would never know unless I specifically tell you though...I only have one kidney. Well, only one of them works. Since birth.
So if someone dropped you and I off in the middle of nowhere Spain, we may be able to scrounge together enough of a sentence to finding an English-speaking person! ;o)
DeleteHaha..these are great! I had actually pegged you as a lefty - not sure how, I just felt like I already knew that when I read it. I am also very pleasantly surprised to read your mouth rivals a sailor's...girl after my own heart :o)
ReplyDeleteI've often wondered what impressions people have of me from reading my blog & the comments I leave on theirs. Then again, I also wonder what people who interact with me everyday think of me too. I guess I'm always somewhat aware of how others might be viewing me.
Some things maybe not known about me...I'm obsessed with reality tv (especially the Real Housewives franchises), I'm kinda obsessed with celebrity gossip too (I start every single day reading People.com then tmz - & check both regularly throughout the day), I'm pretty organized but very messy, and I love to sing especially along with the radio in the car. In fact, when I hear a new song that I like I will listen to it over & over again so I can learn all the words because while I love singing, I HATE not knowing the words to the song!
That is just another reason why I don't sing, other than I can't. I can't ever remember the words to songs - in fact, a lot of the songs I like, I'm not even listening to what the song is about, I just like the tune.
DeleteLove reading this! And we must be on some sort of weird wavelength because I am wearing the exact same polka dot popover with a pink skirt today... and a blazer. I kid you not.
ReplyDelete-Lauren
Fizz and Frosting
Style blogger wavelength - yes!
DeleteAh, another stylish leftie! ;) And artistic, too - what an awesome talent to have! :)
ReplyDeleteSomething that people might not guess about me is that I'm very quiet and reserved in real life ... I think my classmates, who don't know much about me, would be astounded to learn that I post photos of myself on the Internet and chatter on about all kinds of things. :)
By the way, the dots look great both doubled up and with the pencil skirt. I need some dots and colored skirts in my closet ... you show how versatile and fun they can be. :)
I'm the same way - I'm pretty reserved until you get to know me. Then you're stick listening to my blather!
DeleteIt's okay if you clomp up stairs in your pencil skirt and heels if you look as good in them as you do.
ReplyDeleteI'm finding that the most ladylike-looking bloggers admit to potty mouths...lol.
I definitely do not let it all hang out on my blog, although it pro'bly seems like I sometimes share things that do not place me in the most flattering light :P I draw and paint fairly well, and miss it. I'm a voracious reader. I hate cooking, and could skip dinner. I never miss breakfast :P
Holy moly, lady, I could never skip dinner. Dinner is like THE big event of most of my days - I love food so much! ;o)
DeleteI loved this post. I have a potty-mouth too and I think it surprises a lot of people because I look so sweet and smile-y in my posts. I am sweet and smile-y, I just also like to curse and am pretty great at it.
ReplyDeleteYou look gorgeous in both looks.
Have a wonderful weekend, Lisa! Oh, and I don't think I ever thanked you for the GCOGH giftcard. I chose Nordstrom and promptly bought some new shoes. So, thank you!
Awesome - so glad you got something great with your gift card!
DeleteI always think it is funny when I'm with male co-workers who may not know me that well yet and they're all like, "oh, excuse me, I'm so sorry" every time they utter even a semi cuss word in front of me. I just sit there and smile sweetly like, just wait for me to get clack-alacking!
One of my favorite things about reading the same blogs on a daily basis is that you get a sense of who the person behind the blog is. Even though you've never had the opportunity to meet them in person, you still feel like you know them well. Cute post!
ReplyDeletexo jen
I definitely enjoyed reading this post. Especially the evil laugh part! Heaven only knows I have enough polka dots in my closet but that JC factory blouse is heaven on a shirt... don't let me do it... ;)
ReplyDeleteSequins&Stilettos
I stayed away from polka dots for the longest time and now, I can't stop wearing this blouse or that sweater!
DeleteI love the colors and I love the patterns!! Ha, and I definitely feel like I really know all the bloggers I follow. Now I feel like I know you even better! :)

Love your stripes with the dots - you've done it perfectly, and with the coral, so chic!
ReplyDeleteso loved your dots on dots! I would have never guessed you had a trucker mouth!!
ReplyDeleteMy potty mouth is like my secret super hero power - except I'd honestly rather be able to fly or be super-fast!
DeleteNice blog dear.
ReplyDeletexo.

BIG hair LOUD mouth
I love both looks! You've covered all of my favorites: sparkles, stripes, and dots! Thanks for that! It was good getting to "know" you better too:)xoxo
ReplyDeleteaw, lucky you- people just laugh at me when I swear...I think these 2 combinations are going to kill me..I can't decide which I love more! dots and stripes! no, dots and bigger dots!
ReplyDeleteI love both looks on you! I just love your more classic style. It was SO fun learning more about you!! I would have never guessed that you've got a truckers mouth. lol! You really shocked me there! I'm tone deaf too (I think)...maybe we could sing together sometime with no judgements:)

We'd need to have adjoining bathrooms with matching ear muffs so we can drown each other out, hehe! ;o)
DeleteI love the intimacy that blogging offers. I think it's great that selective things are shared and we can get to know bloggers and understand their perspective.
ReplyDeleteno chocolate??? I wouldn't survive! LOVE this outfit! Great pattern mixing and I love the bracelets.
ReplyDeletePosts like these are a big part of why I love your blog (and any lifestyle blog)! I love getting to "know" bloggers past just their clothes or tips! And girl, I am right there with ya on the not being able to keep my sailor-mouth shut.
ReplyDeleteThis is a great post...I think that we all do the same thing when reading someone's blog. Some things that people don't know about me is that I'm pretty shy, I have some serious road rage where my potty mouth really shines thru, I sang in my high school and college choir as well as my church choir, and I hate wearing heels (they kill my feet). I also love both of your looks - the polka dots are my favorite. I'm definitely going to check out the J. Crew Factory Printed Popover this weekend.
ReplyDeleteMoody Girl In Style
Oh I used to have way bad potty mouth road rage - my commute is a whole lot less early and stressful now, thank goodness (for everyone else)!
Deletehaha...I totally feel like I'm friends with some of the bloggers I follow! I catch myself telling my husband a story about something I read on a blog and I start out by saying, "My friend just did this..." and then I realize I don't actually KNOW the person. haha...
ReplyDeleteLove all the polka dots!!
http://jeansandateacup.blogspot.com/
Love the dots on dots Lisa! Hahaha, I totally know what you mean about bloggers....sometimes I feel like I know someone so well from following them for a while, and when they write something unexpected I feel hurt! So strange to how emoitional blogging can get :P
ReplyDeleteTasia
I really like your bag! It's like a joke, but the designer's in on it... I like this post, too. Such interesting tidbits!
ReplyDeleteI agree. The whole blogger to real life blogger translation is always a bit weird. Though I've met tons of bloggers who are EXACTLY like their blog. The personality is still there in a sense.
ReplyDeleteI really liked this post. I love getting to know random facts and these were awesome!
Also the colors and prints in this look are to die for. Seriously a perfect outfit.
I'm personally not too fond of chocolate either -- I guess I have to be in the mood for it to like it haha.
ReplyDeleteDid you end up shortening this pencil skirt? Or returning for a petite? I finally tried a Tall in the No. 2 wool double serge pencil and it looked so frumpy on me. Glad I stuck to the regular size. What would people be surprised to learn about me? Hmmm....as much money as I shell out on clothes and fashion, I am an absolute cheapskate when it comes to beauty. I HATE paying for manis/pedis, it kills me to get my hair done because it costs so much, and I never get facials/massages/etc. due to the cost. I'd rather spend the $75 at J.Crew than at the spa. However, I will spend the money for makeup...I have my department store faves that no drug store options can match!
ReplyDeleteI originally purchased this skirt in the regular length, wore it once, felt like it kind of looked borderline frumpy on me, so I sold it to a taller friend and got myself another in the petite length.
DeleteI have enjoyed your spotted outfits as of late, this one especially. You have such an eye when it comes to pattern/color pairings and of course your accessories are on point! One thing I don't think many of my readers would guess about me is my love for history and the outdoors. I spend a lot of time outdoors but feel like that part of my life is represented on my blog as much.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun way to spice up corporate wear!

gorgeous blazer, loving that

Aren't you the little sister I never had? I am not surprised at any of your fun facts except maybe the potty mouth. Well, maybe not even that. People expect me to be more prime and proper because of the way I look too.
ReplyDeleteAdorable as always in both outfits!
We're seriously obsessed with that skirt, it fits and feels so good. Love the mix of stripes and dots, and the color combo is awesome. Thanks for sharing those random facts about you, we enjoyed reading. Ok, some people would have noticed, but we're seriously not into the social media thing, don't know how people keep up (we hope to catch up someday :))
ReplyDeleteHave a great week!
xx

Great looks - especially love the dot on dots ensemble and love this post. Learning these little tidbits are great. People don't realize how much I love food - I stalk new restaurants for reservations but also love fast food :)
ReplyDeleteRed Soles and Red Wine
I agree with someone up thread - I feel like we'd get on like a house on fire in real life. I feel the same about Dina at mysuperfluities as well, you just get a sense that you'd be really compatible with that person... if you lived on the same continent!
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure there is anything people wouldn't guess about me other than I don't really enjoy shopping. Online shopping yes but the thought of going to town, parking up, wandering around the shops, stopping for coffee (which I don't drink)... The only person I am happy to do that with is my sister and seeing as she isn't around much at the moment I never ever go to town. However, Elodie is pretty good so I can get a few hours out of her if I have to as long as we stop for cake half way through :-)
I'm with you - unless it is a good excuse to catch up with friends, I'd rather shop online that go to the mall!
Deletethis was great lisa! hahaha i took Spanish and Latin! yep, can't speak worth a lick! all the heels you wear? i would think you were light as a feather on your feet with them. hmmm, i'm a history, biography and travel buff. i write a lot about international countries, but have never been OUT of the country. hahaha i'm a minimalist and orderly person.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.averysweetblog.com/
I took Latin in junior high - and yep, a whole lotta nada for me, though I still remember the "ten little Romani" song, hehe.
