Unintentionally, this has apparently become Stripes Week on respect the shoes - even though I really wore this outfit last week. I'm probably like most of you ladies, though, and have enough stripes in my closet to last several several several days weeks of non-repetitive wear.
I'm
not even sure what it is about stripes that make me adore them so much.
I guess because stripes are a pattern - but a pretty simple subtle one,
so they can kind of worn like a neutral? Did that make no sense ... Because they are kind of crisp and preppy
and pleasing to the eye? That's why to me they are superior to dots or
most other patterns ... ? Oh I don't really know, I just know that I
haven't met a striped yet that I hadn't liked.
It's still pretty warm in the SE so I haven't really had a chance yet to break out my real deal fall gear, but I couldn't wait to show you a blazer that I bought weeks ago (and has been sitting unhappily in my closet wanting out since). As soon as I saw this blazer online, I literally couldn't wait to drive to the mall to so I could satiate my grabby hands. It's a

You are so dang tiny and adorable. Every time I come to your blog you always are talking about something good and relevant and I can tell it's always how you really feel and I love that.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE that blazer. And I love stripes. I have to refrain myself from buying more. I justify it by different colors...but it is still stripes. We could probably start a stripes intervention group....
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm always like, how many different things can a retailer do with stripes? But each season, someone does something new and cool and I must have another striped thing ...
DeleteYou are so good at pattern mixing! Love these looks and the colors go together perfectly. Have a great weekend :)
ReplyDeleteI love that blazer but have to say that on the website it is CALLED "Checked Wool Blazer" but the composition shows up as having no wool at all. So, I find that annoying (as well as illegal actually) though I love the look of the blazer and know where I am going on my lunch hour..... It's funny, when I am thrifting and when I look at blogs, I adore so many Zara pieces and yet I rarely go into the store.... completely illogical. I love your outfits today (and yesterday's!!). Do you think there are stripe people and polka dot people? I like stripes a lot but can't think of anything I have with polka dots.....
ReplyDeleteYou are so right on the name, Margaret, how weird. I just assumed it must be some wool blend because it doesn't feel like all wool, but it is more substantial like an outdoors blazer and not a suite blazer, if you know what I mean. Update made on my post!
DeleteZara is hit or miss, but I really like the way their blazers fit me (plus the price point) - and they've got free ship & free returns.
As for stripes people and dots people? I totally think so - I have like one thing with dots on it myself ...
BLAZER #2!!! It's gorgeous. And I wouldn't be sad if every day was stripes day :)
ReplyDeleteAhhh that blazer is too cute with the red elbow patches! I think it's Stripes Week every week on my blog, haha, I'm obsessed! Happy Friday, Lisa!

Hooray for Stripes Week! I never get tired of stripes, and I love how mixable they are! That blazer rocks--I love the subtle plaid and awesome elbow patches. I recently found a bright orange blazer at Target, and that's been one of my favorite fall purchases.
ReplyDeleteOh, and I stole one of your looks and I'm wearing it today on my blog, so thanks for the inspiration! Have a good weekend!
Shoot, we're all here to inspire each other, aren't we? ;o)
Deleteyes, to pretty much all of the above. i have an excess of stripes, and i love that they go with almost everything and are the most superior pattern.
ReplyDeleteso adorable with the plaid blazer!
Chic on the Cheap
Love both coats! The second one is so great with the red elbows! Perfect for fall!
ReplyDeleteYour new blazer looks great Lisa!
ReplyDeleteLove red and blue together, especially the blazer in the second look! The red trims and the red elbow pads make it so striking! Great mix of patterns in the first look, Lisa!

I would be praying for cold if I had a blazer this cute! I love the unexpected print on the underside of the collar. Elbow patches are always a plus.
ReplyDeleteBoth blazers look adorable, but I have to say that the red patches in the second one captured my heart. So cute!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite fall purchase so far has to be my new black leather equestrian boots! I had been looking for the perfect pair for over a year now and finally found them! The silly things that excite me... :)
Hey, shoot, I am super-excited about this navy non-wool wool blazer!
Deleteoh yes, i feel the same way about stripes :) i've been buying cold-weather clothes for a while now. just picked up j. crew's cocoon coat. thinking about buying a vest but they remind me of back to the future...
ReplyDeleteOoh, the cocoon coat, I've been eyeballing that for a while but never bit - it is such a sleek and effortless cas look.
DeleteGreat jacket and of course I love the stripes.
ReplyDeleteRed Soles and Red Wine
I wish I lived closer to you, so I could borrow that check blazer!haha! Seriously though, I LOVE it! Have a great weekend!

Oh lady, if our little blog group all lived closer together, we could do a lot of damage, haha. The closet sharing would be awesome and the local J.Crew would be picked clean!
DeleteLove your outfit(s),esp. the second one. I envy your weather in the SE,it is getting chilly here.
ReplyDeleteI have stacks of striped shirts and i have to force myself not to order another one:).
Have a great weekend!!!!
You think retailers can find only so many variations on "the striped shirt" but sure enough, every season, some one comes out with some else brand spanking new striped that I HAVE to have!
DeleteBoth of those blazers are fabulous. But, the second one is so great for fall! I've purchased a lot of sweaters and my favorite is a vintage "thunderbird" sweater with leather-covered buttons. Of course, it's still 80 here so I have no idea when I'll be able to wear it.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful weekend!
Gracey
I know what you mean. On one hand I want to break out my cool weather clothes (because it's almost October, eep), but then I don't want to let go of this 80-something degree weather!
DeleteYou are so right about stripes being almost a neutral! I'm starting to feel the same way about leopard :)
ReplyDeleteI love the non-wool wool blazer too with the cute elbow patches!
I bought that blazer, but had to return it because the size I got didn't fit...and then it was gone from the website. You look fabulous in it!!
ReplyDeleteI have so many things on my wishlist for Fall, but my fave purchase so far has been a bracelet. It's so cute, I can't stand it. I'm dying to buy some new blazers in fun colors and maybe some boots.
When I first saw it online, it was sold out, so of course I panicked and hauled butt to the mall and hunted it down. Of course now it looks like they have loads - and the grey version looks really quite nice IRL.
DeleteThat striped dress looks great with both those blazers! Love it!

Ooh, equestrian. All I need is a pair of brown boots and to find a noble steed ... ;o)
Deletei actually haven't done any fall shopping, but i really want to buy smoking slippers! ;)

Wow Lisa! I love the first floral jacket!! Only you could pull off such a sassy look!!
ReplyDeleteI really love both looks, but that floral jacket has me drooling! I just love it! Oh, and your nail polish is precious too!
ReplyDeleteNice outfits ! :)
ReplyDeleteOh. those bright red elbow patches really make the blazer! And stripes outta be eternal (so far so good)- I think dots and florals are great, but they do age a bit more!
ReplyDeleteLove your looks and I agree the bright red elbow patches make me want that jacket!
ReplyDeleteLove love love the second blazer on you. What size did you get?
ReplyDeleteBoth blazers are amazing but I love love love the elbow patch on the second one!
ReplyDeleteI love stripes too! I can't get enough! I love yours and love both blazers! The 2nd one is cool with the patches and I like the mix of prints---so subtle!
ReplyDeleteLove both these looks! I really love the "fake" wool blazer. haha... I love the neck detail and the elbow pads. And stripes go with everything...totally a neutral.

I absolutely love stripes and am a bit obsessed with them. They are the perfect print! I really love that denim jacket of yours - the red elbow patches are the perfect touch :)
ReplyDeleteYou had me at stripes:p Love that Zara jacket, esp the tiny stand-out details. And actually looking forward to using my chunky infinity scarf although may have to wait for winter, bah! hehe
ReplyDeleteI hace a red cardigan with white stripes but I think yours looks a lot better since you don't look like a Where's Waldo character... hahah.
ReplyDeleteAnd that checked Zara blazer is sooo cool! I love the patch on the elbow!!
I wanted to do the Respect the Reader feature but the weather hasn't been fall-y enough to wear anything that resembles fall at all. Oh well, maybe for winter!
I love both blazers! I'm definitely a stripes girl too, although I'm developing a love for polka dots this year. I haven't done much fall shopping yet since it's still summer in FL, but leather, oxblood and cap toe shoes are all on my fall wishlist.
