Big Lacy Collar & Next Reader Feature

lacy

It's that time of the year. Where the mornings and evenings are pleasantly shiver-inducing but around noon the sun is beating down relentlessly and everyone is in shirt sleeves. Where it is almost-not quite time to turn off the air conditioner. Where you are starting to have to choose between a soft serve cone or a pumpkin spice latte.

For me living in the south, it is not yet time to don the boots and jackets, but I am kind of loving the ability to break out some full-length clothes. Plus I've recently skinned my knee (I know, I'm like a 4th grader, seriously) so it's nice to be able to hide my legs for a while while still being able to bare arms - though obviously it's like the first time these jeans have seen the light of day in months, ah, wrinkles!

  1. Cuteness Lisa!! Love the big collar you're sportin' and a big grin to you for skinning your knee. I had a bad fall a couple of years ago that involved attempting to run with an overly-hyper dog.....let's just say I crawled my way home!

    1. I went running with the pup last weekend and she nearly pulled me over, she was going so fast. But alas, it was flat ground on my own that sunk me!

  2. My jeans were a little wrinkly too when I recently took them out of hibernation. The temperatures have been all over the place here--one day it will be jeans and sweater weather, the next I'm taking my shorts back out!
I love your pretty lacy top!

    1. It was really hot this afternoon, I was sweating - and I forgot I left a few bags of chocolate in my trunk that became chocolate blobs. Isn't it almost October?

  3. Those top is SO cute with that layered collar! I'm so bummed that summer is over, but happy it's still warm by the afternoon :) I'm trying my hardest not to wear fall clothes for as long as possible! Have a great weekend!

  4. I love your top! And the outside pictures :) I live in the south too so I'm still waiting to bust out the boots, but I've been loving wearing long pants and even sweaters somedays. Great outfit!

  5. Oh what a fun feature!!! I will have to participate for sure! I am in love with your look today Lisa! That top is so pretty and delicate. Annnnnd, we are, of course, experiencing the same bipolar weather here in CO too. It's such a pain!

  6. L-O-V-I-N-G your bracelets!

I've really been struggling with transitioning this year. Who am I kidding? I've actually never really dressed for seasons before so this whole transitioning thing is kinda new to me. Can't wait to see what everyone comes up with.

  7. You look so cute in jeans! Layers are my best way to transition into fall...scarves and a light sweater or jacket in the morning / then I can shed a layer or two for the afternoon if I get too overheated.

  8. I love that lace top paired with jeans.

I think I'm having trouble transitioning this year (sounds like I'm dying, but no, just first world problems...lol), partly because the weather won't cooperate. I'm in the South, too, and we got one 70 degree day, followed by an 85 degree day. I stand in front of my closet and waffle between "too summer-ry", "too winter-y", or "crap, I have to move boxes to a new office at work today," and then just completely melt down. But I think my normal transition outfit would be a pencil skirt and a cardi.

    1. I know, I'm here all like, "oh boo hoo, it's 5 degrees too warm or cold and I don't know what to pair down from my wardrobe to wear." It is good to live in a first world country sometimes.

  9. Oh, the collar on that top is just wonderful and so pretty on you.

Over the past couple of days, my transition looks have been jeans and silk blouses. But, usually it's dresses and riding boots.

    1. I look forward to booth weather, but unfortunately knee high boots never looks very good on me (short and stocky - boo).

  10. I love that top! How cute is the lace with that collar :)

I know what you mean about this transition period. I don't know what to wear! Even in shorts and a sweater today I was sweltering, but two days ago in a different shorts/sweater combo I froze. Maybe by next week I'll have it figured out.

I hope you have a fantastic weekend :)

  11. Pumpkin spice latte for sureeee!

Favorite transitional pieces would be the cardigan, Uniqlo HeatTech bra top (a spaghetti strap that warms your body), and black tights. It's usually a lot cooler here in Japan around late September, but I think that's why they call it global warming and not just Japan/America warming right?

I love the Modcloth top btw! The collar is adorableeee! Your accessories are bomb too!

  25. That top is just SO cute, Lisa! It has such a feminine and romantic feel. I envy you for still being able to wear sleeveless tops! Although a scraped knee is a sad excuse to wear jeans, I think you look great wearing them and should do it more often! My transition outfits are based on the layering of summer pieces while I still can wear them!

  28. As I recently learned, white lace can be so bridal but the collar details on your top stop it from being so. It is cute, cute.

I can't fathom transitioning to fall yet, it is still sizzling hot and will be for a few more weeks.

  29. Gorgeousness! I agree - living in the South affords us a slow transition to cooler temps, and I like it! I love the special little details of your outfit... especially those fabulous bracelets!

  35. Lisa, I love this top on you - just too cute for words! It's just way too hot here to even pretend we're transitioning into the fall, unless you happen to be sitting in an air conditioned environment, and then, it's usually uncomfortably cold, haha. I can't wait for the temperatures to cool down.
