Between the Pages
I think most of us are already familiar with the blog Already Pretty. Writer Sally McGraw has been a mainstay in the style blog community since 2007 and her mantra is for us to dress for the figures we have, not the ones we wish we did. Sally is now adding "published author" onto her list of credentials because girlfriend just released a for-real-in-print style guide called, aptly enough, Already Pretty.
Why am I mentioning all of this? Well the lovely Sally flattered me to no end by including me (me!) in her guide. My face is in print, ladies! If you want to learn a bit more about the book, find where you can buy it or see the list of stylish bloggers included, you can go to Sally's post here.
So in the spirit of Sally's blog (and now book), what do you think is your most flattering silhouette?
Which of your features do you love to emphasize and dress up?

Congrats on being included :-) I love wearing scoop and V necks to show off my long neck!
ReplyDeleteAw - sigh - I'd love to have a long neck.
DeleteCute, cute, cute, both the outfit today and the pics of you in the book. Congrats! How cool for everyone involved!
ReplyDeleteMy best silhouette is a cap-sleeved, tight bodiced, modest a-lined skirted, to the knee dress. It also helps if the dress has a scoop neck. This shape allows for my narrower upper body to be the highlight. Then the skirt skims over my more ample bottom half, while still allowing my longer calves to be on display.
This may sound weird, but you have a beautiful neck and collar bone area - scoop necks really flatter you well!
DeleteSuper awesome sauce. I need to scope out the book and congrats!
ReplyDeleteCongrats! How honored to be involved!
ReplyDeleteLove your stripe tee. I am still obsessed with stripes this summer and J. Crew doesn't make it easy for me to get away!
JC needs to stop making striped tees, seriously. This is my third boatneck 3/4 sleeve striped tee from them ...
DeleteCongrats Lisa, that's amazing! I adore the outfit you are sporting!
ReplyDeleteI'd have to say something that sinches in the waist a bit... a shirtdress that I can pair with a belt, or pencil skirts. it doesn't make my hips look that wide. ;)
Wow, that is awesome, congratulations!! I love Sally and her blog, and I'll have to pick up her book too. I'm not sure what my most flattering silhouette is--maybe a belted pencil skirt with a tucked-in blouse? And heels, definitely heels.

ReplyDeleteI love that skirt! It is so different and original!
I like to wear tops that have a v-neck and I love a dress that cinches at the waist and can be worn with a belt. Like one of the readers above I love stripes too!
congrats, how awesome!! And love the ampay with that top. Now I'm headed over to ebay to see if I can find that bracelet, it looks great with the ampay necklace. :)
ReplyDeleteI adore that outfit you put together based on the ampay's color - so summery and fun!
DeleteWhat a fun treat to be featured in Sally's book! And the colors in that J.Crew shirt are wonderful in real life--so cute!!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! Great news!

Congrats Lisa!
ReplyDeleteI guess my best feature are my toned arms and i love to show the off in anything sleeveless.
Any advice on targeting your upper arms, especially tricep area? I am striving for toned shoulders and arms this summer - I want to look like you!
DeleteI have started TRX and that made a world of difference and i am also doing Tae-bo twice a week.
DeleteThanks again for helping to make this book a reality, Lisa!
ReplyDeleteCongrats, girl - getting published is a big deal!
DeleteCongratulations, Lisa! What a wonderful honor to be in print!
ReplyDeleteAnd are more congrats in order? I don't remember seeing that rock on your ring finger before!

Aw, thanks, Sharon!
DeleteNah, I've been "spoken for" for a while now - but I don't wear my ring when I am getting ready in the morning and sometimes take my pics before I'm totally "put together" yet - ring on, laptop bag, keys, phone, etc.
That is so, so awesome Lisa! Super excited for you! I really love that top on you!
ReplyDeleteCongrats to you on being featured in Sally's book. That's a wonderful treat and compliment to you and your amazing blog. I love to emphasize my arms and shoulders the most when I get dressed. So, wearing a shirt or dress that is sleeveless or strapless would be my most flattering silhouette.
ReplyDeleteOh...and I'm really loving your shirt today. I'm going to have to check it out at J.Crew.
I admire women with strong shoulders and upper arms. That is am area I def need to work on - I'm just meaty up there, I want to be toned and buff!
DeleteCongrats on being in print! That's sooo exciting!!
ReplyDeleteAlso exciting? That you knew the EXACT reference of my photo from yesterday! I was DYING when I read your comment because that clip from AFV is one of my all-time faves! I laughed so hard the first time I saw it. Now whenever I see a truck being towed backwards I always think of that video & when I saw that truck that morning it was my inspiration for the shot! I'm glad I'm not the only one who loves AFV :o)
Virtual high five - of the same mind!
DeleteCongrats girl!
ReplyDeletecongrats!!! i love your skirt and that bag is too cute!

ReplyDeleteCONGRATULATIONS!!! That is amazing! I love your outfit--the stripes are perfect and love the skirt too! Great shoes! Best feature? Is that before or after the wine? Lol, it's probably my smile!
ReplyDeleteWhoohooo! Congrats Lisa!!! :)
ReplyDeleteSilhouette-friendly items? I always feel pretty when I wear bright colors or a skirt that shows off my legs. :)

I love your boatneck blouse they are a weakness of mine. And congrats for being included in Sal's book; you deserve it for your consistent great style and great writing.
ReplyDeleteI'm a shrimp with hips like a boy's, so I usually try to play up my legs, or my broad shoulders, which actually look pretty good in classic clothes.
Love this look! It's work appropriate and summery all at the same time. Love that hemline too. So unique. And congrats on your feature!! How exciting!

Fabulous!!!
ReplyDeleteThe bag is darling, how is the quality of it?
ReplyDeleteI think retail is $59 or something and when I got it, there was an addtl % off - so I think for the price, it is a good value. A few markings on the faux leather from standard wear and handling but I think it'll do pretty well for a bag I'll probably carry for a season or two. I can fit my wallet, phone, compact and a tube of gloss in it and that's about it, though!
