Super G-Men

Congrats to my Giants for pulling out another nail biter of a Super Bowl victory! Those guys sure know to keep the audience hanging on until the very end!

Here's the outfit I wore yesterday in my G-men inspired colors. I did take these pics early in the day.  And I did end up trading my heels in for some red flats by the time the game started though, since we were going to a friend's house and I didn't want to stomp around like Rumpelstiltskin whenever I got worked up over the game.

I did manage to have beer and pimento cheese on my shirt by half time and near the end of the fourth quarter I gave up all semblance of trying to look cute because I was alternating between hiding under a quilt on the couch or jumping up and down like a maniac due to the antics on the television. Yes, I am one of those annoying people who get worked up over the game and can't watch certain plays so I hide and yell instead.

IMG_2005  IMG_2000

As you've guessed by now, I am not one of those "cute" sporty girls with the perfect hair nursing my bottle of Michelob Ultra while I snack on grapes and whole wheat pita points - though I try! I am one of those girls who yell profanities at the television over every play with my mouth full of burger and beans. I am pretty sure by the start of the second quarter my lipstick was gone and my hair was relegated to a ponytail so as not to get in the way of my munching and trash talking.

Honestly though, I am not a huge sports fan typically and honestly I could care less about basketball, baseball (unless the Mets are in the World Series ... and I don't have to worry about that much), soccer, hockey or anything else. I'd much rather spend my Sunday afternoons watching Real Housewives reruns while I paint my nails. I watch college football occasionally if it is a group activity and only keep enough of an eye out on the rest of the NFL just to see who is leading. But my Giants ... I make exceptions for my boys in blue.

Are you a sports fan? Do you get riled up over certain games? Or if you don't like sports, what makes you jumping-on-the-couch-yelling-at-the-top-of-your-lungs fanatic?

  3. Man I am pumped that the Giants won! While I am Colts fan (sad, I know) I am an AVID patriots hater. The fact that the Giants did it AGAIN, makes it all the sweeter. I do love some football :) Don't worry...my hair made it to ponytail status by 3rd quarter and I had cupcake frosting on my pants :) Love the red heels!

    1. Strange for me that the Pats are actually my second fave team in the NFL - I didn't realize until this game though how widely disliked they are in general though! Oh well, better for my Giants!

  4. I love that your game day outfit captures the spirit of your team without being too cheesy; you could wear that any day!

I am so not into sports and love that my hubs enjoys watching the halftime show more than the game itself!

    1. Madonna was pretty impressive last night - and for her age, that woman is still a knockout!

  5. I'm not a huge sports fan either but I still placed a bet on my NY Giants, so happy I... I mean They won! lol I love your bag, the color, the shape - everything!!!

  6. Love your bag with your shoes!! I'm not a sports fan at all. When hubby watches hockey(yes, that's what we Canadians do), I'm totally tuned out while staring blank at the screen. I did watch the half time last nite. What a show Madonna put on!

    1. I was actually pretty impressed with the half-time show. Usually I roll my eyes at them but Madonna knocked it out!

  7. Adorable, as always. I didn't watch the Superbowl, but my hubby did. I don't do sports. Like at all. LOL :) Even my hubby didn't care all that much, but he was rooting for the Pats b/c he's originally from New England. All said and done, he isn't that heartbroken. LOL :)

  9. I'm a huge football fan (college and NFL). I try to go to as many local games as possible if I'm not working my second job on the weekends. I watched the superbowl and the Giants did not disappoint. That was an intense game. I'm pretty sure that I scared my neighbors downstairs with all of the yelling and jumping that was going on in my apartment. I also loved Madonna's performace...she was pretty amazing.

You're outfit is great as always...representing the Giants well. Go Giants!!!

  10. The only sport that remotely interests me is hockey. There is something about big, burly men beating the crap out of each other that I find massively appealing. That said, you can betcha that I am ALL about cooking some amazing food and feasting regardless of the occasion and the Superbowl is no exception.
    Cute outfit!

    1. I used to be a huge Rangers fan waaaaaaaaay back in the day when Messier, Robataille, Richter, briefly Gretsky all suited up. Hockey is probably the manliest of team sports - rugby players may be a smidge more manly, but they lose points for their short shorts. ;o)

  11. I'm not a football fan, and I didn't actually watch the superbowl, but I live in NYC so I knew immediately who had won from the shouting, and whooping outside my window! As for what gets me yelling and jumping around... it's House Hunters. I always start yelling "GET THE CUTE COTTAGE! IT'S ADORABLE! LOOK HOW CHARMING IT IS!"

My cat reeeeeally appreciates it. Heehee.

    Love the outfit, too!

    1. Bwahaha, I love House Hunters too! I know part of seeing potential new homes is voicing to your realtor your likes and dislikes from previous potential homes, but I get worked up when people are walking through a house and all they can say are things like "this bedroom isn't big enough," or "I hate that wall color" or "the kitchen looks old." Especially during the International episodes - sorry, Americans, most of the other countries don't have it as good as we do with our giant closets and yards and brand new everythings! (Oh see, there I go getting worked up again!)

  12. Love the accessories you are sporting :) I love tennis and basketball and occassionally rugby if we are against NZ ! So that's when the yelling at tv begins! Saw the superbowl highlights down here in Aus :)

  13. I watched the game with my man who is a HUGE Giants fan. While I wish it were a team with a big star on the chest, I was happy it was my husbands team who won, and not the Patriots. And I am also in it for the food. And the football. The food and the football, yeah.

    1. Virtual high five to your hubby for being a Giants fan! And virtual high five to you for the food - the game would not be half as fun without the "big game day food!"

  15. We are no longer welcome at Super Bowl-watching parties. Himself gets too wound up, yells when people walk on front of the tv (who invites these guys anyway?), tells people to stop talking, curses while children are in the room and in general is so wound up in the game that he doesn't notice that he's eaten everything on the table... I of course am the perfect guest. Yeah right.

    1. One thing I definitely need to do is stay away from the snack table or I am shoving food in my mouth all night! However, I did plenty of yelling at the TV and completely Bogart'd the couch a few times with my watch/oh no can't watch antics!

I couldn't care less about the superbowl, but the NBA? It's on. My swearing is total stress relief!

    1. You need to hang with my dad - he's usually such a well-mannered man, except when he sits down to watch the Knicks play. When he's home watching, my mom usually retreats to another floor!

  17. Basketball. Golf. Occasionally I don't mind watching hockey. You're going to kill me though. I really don't give a hoot about football >_< If I did though, I would probably cheer for the Giants :)

  19. You look super cute! And I love that you're a loud, foul-mouthed Giants fan, haha! I admittedly know absolutely NOTHING about sports, so I definitely don't understand the craziness that sports fans get into. That being said, though, I also don't belittle it because come on, I also get frothing-at-the-mouth insane for some things too. Like whenever I go to a music festival and the band I've waited in the mud and heat for 5 hours to see finally comes on stage. You're welcome, Pearl Jam.

    1. That's a perfect analogy, because for me, I'm not big on concerts. I love me some Dave Matthews and Pink and Lenny, but I've seen them in concert and I was kind of like "meh." But to sit in front of the TV for 3hrs drinking beers and yelling at stupid calls like I make a difference - now that's a good time, haha!

  20. Congratulations to the Giants!! It sounds like you had a fun evening at your friends house!! I love the jewelry paired with the casual chic look. And the red heels are cute but I agree flats are more comfy when you need jump up and down :)

  25. Hey Lisa! Excellent outfit to watch the game in! I love stripey shirts with sequins on them. I think they are so fabulous! Happy the Giants won! It was a really good game. I love football! I didn't always, but the past couple of years I've been following it. You look great! Glad you had a wonderful time.
