Keep your fingers crossed for a(nother) big NY Giants Superbowl win over the Pats for this Sunday, ladies! I’ll be decked out in my obligatory Giants red, white and blue in support as I power my way through BF’s(in) famous taco bean dip and about 65 Blue Moons (calories don’t count if you’re team is in the Superbowl - it’s a law in at least 46 states, I believe).

I’ve always been a big believer in “rewarding” myself for accomplishing numerous bits of otherwise daily minutae. It's a nice little self-motivator. Just got back from a long business trip? Think I deserve that new pair of Charles Davids. Finished a big project? Time for some varsity bar hopping. Vacuumed the house? Pizza for dinner. Got the empty bottle into the trash on the first try? Virtual self high-five – and a crusty fresh baguette. (Have an idea yet that I loooove rewarding myself with food? That’s why I am always trying to lose that extra 5lbs …)
What’s your favorite indulgence (food or otherwise) when you’re in a celebratory mood?

  1. oh I love this dress! How does it fit? I'm looking online and the petite size this color is sold out. I'm usually size 2 on Anthropologie dresses and I'm wondering if I would also be size 2 on J crew. I don't really trust the size charts because it's also different from reality, at least to me!!

    1. Hi Nadja - because this dress is modelled after the blythe shirt, I ordered my regular J.Crew button-down shirt size, which is a 2p, and that worked out perfectly. For regular J.Crew dresses, I've been everything from a 0-4 before - I find that the more structured brand dresses fit tighter. I am small 34" on top though and the material does not stretch, so if I were larger (I wish, haha), I'd probably need a 2 or 4p. I am typically a 2 in Anthro dresses - hope this helps!

    2. Yes it did help thank you :] I'm also a 34 on top. I will see if I can spot this dress at my local store thank you!

Yess I am also all about rewarding myself. Lost 2 lbs? Lets eat something greasy to celebrate haha I'm always celebrating and rewarding myself to get what I want :] it's fun!

    1. My fave ice cream is vanilla soft serve, partly because you HAVE to go out and make an effort to get it.

    1. The Pats are actually my second fave team in the NFL, but I do enjoy seeing Brady get trampled under a sea of blue jerseys ...

  5. That is a FANTASTIC color on you! Love it!

My fave food indulgence is buffalo wings, but now that I'm back in the swing of WW, I'm staying FAR away! :)

    1. My fitness/calorie tracker is definitely keeping me more honest about food, especially after seeing how bad just a little itty bit of some foods are - like you, carrot cake. And you, potato chips. And bagels. And ...

  6. Here I thought you were wearing that red dress for Valentine's or something! Have fun watching the game this weekend. :)

    1. This is probably a conversation for another post, but I am one of those girls who purposefully do NOT wear red on valentine's day! I know I know, where's my girlie gene ...

  7. This should make for an interesting weekend...my brother and his family are coming for the game...he's a Pats fan and hubby of course is a Giants fan. Last time we were together for the Superbowl, the Giants beat the Pats and my brother was pretty cranky. So let's see who the nasty pants is this weekend.I'll be indulging in subs and chili and beer because that's what the Superbowl is really about, right?

  10. Coral is really your color! You always look wonderful in this hue. Liking that purse, too - I've never really paid attention to purses before, but I think blogging is changing that.
I'm the same way with treating myself - recently I noticed that I've been snacking a lot more. My rationale is that I've increased my physical activity, but I think I'm seriously overestimating the calories I burned. :)

    1. I've been using an online fitness/calorie tracker recently and though I know those things should be just indicators and aren't completely accurate, it still is depressing to find out how few calories I've burned after certain workouts!

  11. I already have my Manning jersey on! Throw a jersey on over that dress and you're ready for Sunday. I usually reward myself with pizza. Although, I also eat pizza when I have a bad day. So really, I just eat a lot of pizza.

  14. I'm always rewarding myself with food...especially after a long run or a half-marathon. I love to have something either sweet like ice cream with a fudge brownie or salty like fried chicken and mac and cheese. These items alone are the reason I run :)

I'm going to try to be good during the Super Bowl and not too carried away with the snacks. I sampled a turkey burger slider earlier tonight and I plan to recreate them on Sunday. I'll have my fingers crossed for the Giants...I can't wait for the showdown (and the commercials)!

I really like this dress - I may have to consider picking one of these up soon. The poppy color really looks great on you!

    1. Even though I scarfed up two (that's right) burgers last night, I am happy to say their were turkey burgers sans buns. However, I think the pimento cheese I slathered over them probably took away any sort of goodness I was going for!

  17. A very good point Lisa! I've just started to notice that I do the same thing. I have decided to reward myself with "What Not To Wear" podcasts from Itunes. I'm thinking for each pound lost (or whatever goal accomplished) I will download a new favorite episode!

  20. I agree. I think little rewards are a great way to motivate yourself. I usually like to celebrate with a glass of wine or do a bit of shopping. Sometimes a giant cupcake will do the trick too.

Go Giants! (even though I don't really care about the Superbowl)
